Thread: Slowly gaining back the pounds!

Unhappy Slowly gaining back the pounds!

Hi All, I am in day 3 of phase 4 round 1 and have been steadily gaining back the weight...I lost 15 lbs on the 23 day round, and have regained 6 lbs. I thought the hypothalamous was being reset and life wouldn't be a constant diet? I've been very careful with the carbs, but we do have wine with dinner every night. Are those days over?

BeccaSue, I have heard over and over again that when you do a short round, you don't stabilize very well. Best stability is found with rounds 30 days or longer.
Started my HCG journey on March 16, 2011

Just for the record, no part of this journey is for the weak.

I don't think that is necessarily true. I've only done short rounds and I've stabilized well in all three rounds. I know many others who have as well. Maybe your body is intolerant to something you are eating? *shrug*

Round 1 Total (short round) -13 lbs (LDW 130.4)
Round 2 Total (short round) -13.2 lbs (LDW 122.6)
5'4" Goal Weight was 125... Now my goal is to maintain at LDW!
Round 3 Total (short round) -13.6 lbs (LDW 116.6)
    Current Weight - 116.2

Stabilized at or under LDW all three rounds.

Oh wow...that's discouraging. I barely held on for 23 days! Sigh. OK, next time it's 30 days. Thanks for the info. What do you think about the wine?

I'm sorry but I don't think anything resets. If it did maintaining would not be so difficult for so many. It's like any other diet, it's a life style change or you'll gain the weight back. You will have to avoid foods that you know cause gains. That's not to say you can't ever have them but you'll have to have them in moderation and eat clean to get the weight back off. I know many claim this is a miracle drug and maybe on the weightloss side of it, it's close. But it's not a magic obesity cure that will let you go back to a life with no gains. Just doesn't happen unless you change your eating life style.

I don't think it has anything to do with the length of the round. I've seen people on short rounds stabilize great and people on long rounds not stabilize at all and vice versa. Each body is different and there's no way to know how you will or won't stabilize ahead of time. If you think it might be the wine cut it out for a few days and see if your weight drops back down. If it does you know wine is not something you can have daily while maintaining your weight. If it doesn't it's probably something else or a combination of other things.

My first round last summer I lost the most & stabilized the best; it was a short round. Since then, I've done long rounds, cycling, short rounds, interruptions, and not a single time have I felt like anything got "reset". I think for me anyway, the longer I am on it the worse I stabilize. Maybe if you have only one round to do; no troubles. Every body is different and with everyone here being different ages, health concerns, etc., there is no cookie cutter method. Some people loose with a steak day I never have. The FF fage days work better for me even though they are "rogue". The only thing I totally agree with is that when the weight creeps you must do "something" to correct right away or else it snowballs, big time! And I believe that "something" should be something that works for your individual body no matter what anybody else says!

I second that this is not true for ALL people.

Even though I've only done one round, soon to start 2nd round in 2 weeks, I have stabilized wonderfully and I've eaten whatever I wanted to within reason during my P4.

I ate like a little piggy in P3, I was a veteran low carber so I knew what I could and couldn't tolerate. I ate upwards of 2800 calories most days and had to or I'd LOSE weight.

if i could change anything about P and I it would be this idea of a reset. I do think he is right about the concept of signalling but he didnt have all the information, and niether do we. Additionally Dr S didnt have HFCS to contend with and we do. HFCS kills our signalling probably from the first ingestion. I dont think anyone who allows themselves to move bak to SAD ( Standard American Diet) will ever truly be able to hold off the weight losses they obtain from HCG.

If you want to keep it off you will need to invest in some additional education vis-a-vis why we get fat in the first place.
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

I basically live on protein, fats, and leafy greens to maintain my weight. No sugary or starchy carbs at all, or I gain and have to immediatley follow up with high protein days.

For me, it has absolutely reset my metabolism but I am hypothyroid and wonder if this may have been the patients he was referring to. Anyone else hypothyroid have this experience? Granted I have to be careful with gluten but other carbs don't bother me.
