Weight loss from loading weight or before loading?

When you’re counting your weight loss in the first week, do you count the loss since how much you were after loading or from before it? If I count from after, I’ve lost about 7lbs, but if I count from before loading, I’ve only lost 4.5 lbs and that seems REALLY little for the first week!

You count your loading gain loss as part of your total loss. The reason is that is how the daily average loss is computed to predict about a .5 pound per day loss during the round.

A 7 pound loss (including loading weight loss) is a good first week loss, just not a stellar one. Those that really have a good first week might lose 11-12 pounds. But if you are a woman, you can't count on that. Men usually lose on the higher end and will generally average a pound a day loss during their round.

I really appreciate the response! I’ll try to look at it as a win. Loss has been MUCH slower than past rounds but I only had 15 lbs to lose at the start of this one, in order to get to final goal. But I have a feeling my body has been hovering around the weight I am now for longer than I’d expect because it was a weight I’ve been at before for a long time (set point). Does that make sense or am I just wishfully thinking?

No, you are not off base. The stalling at an old established set point is a well known phemomena of the diet. The protocol talks about it and says it can take as long as two weeks to get passed it. (The longest stall I have had at an old set point is 11 days, so it can be less.) Hang in there, you will eventually break through.

Wow I so needed to hear that! Hopefully my set point stall won’t be that long b/c I’m only doing a short round (but will move it up to 30 days instead of 23). Thanks for all your help!
