A quote from P&I, "Very occasionally we allow egg - boiled, poached or raw - to patients who develop an aversion to meat, but in this case they must add the white of three eggs to the one they eat whole."

So in place of a meat serving, you can have 1 whole egg + 3 egg whites, very occasionally.

The whites have the most protein, the yolk has the fat. That's why one whole egg, plus egg whites.

So do you guys consider eggs a "cheat"? How often is occasionally? I would really like to have them at least once a week. Meat-averse would definitely describe me, and I think that a poached egg meal would be awesome to mix things up.

Don't read this if you are strictly protocol -

I will eat one whole boiled egg every day or every other day, without the extra egg whites, and have good losses. No issues. But I realize others might be sensitive to eggs and this might not be a good idea.

    Eggs in p2

No more eggs for me in p2! I gained .4. Im doing an apple day today to balance it out. Gonna save the eggs for p3.

I ate poached eggs for a while in P2. I thought I needed the extra protein because I'm physically extremely active. At first glance it didn't seem to effect losses, but looking at my spreadsheet later I could see a correlation between eggs and a major stall. For me it takes a couple of days for the weight to catch up to the transgression. Once I looked at weekly losses I could see that the eggs were making me gain even though I was still within the 500 calorie limit. I quit the eggs, then I quit the fruit and dropped weight like crazy the last week of P2. Now in P3 I eat omelets all the time and I'm maintaining nicely...had one this morning with spinach and parmesan reggiano. Yum.

Maybe ill try dropping fruit too and see how it works. Ur omelet sounds awesome. My favorite omelet is mushroom n spinach sautéed with garlic n evoo, and either cheddar or mozzarella. Oh man…I'm gettin hungry lol.

Dropping fruit was the absolute best thing I did. My weight loss was not so great after the first week of P2--I mean we're talking 3 or 4 days in a row of no change, then a sudden increase followed by a few ounces down. Losing the poached eggs helped some, but it wasn't until I gave up fruit that I really got back on track and finished strong. It seems that sugar is not my friend and even the fruits we're allowed just have too much sugar in them. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Oh yeah, your mushroom omelet sounds terrific. I'll be doing that one soon.
