~~WASA is fighting with Rusty for the wishbone~~

Rules read... check.... tips read... check.... did I get DB Sweeney??? No check on that yet... Is he mine or did Rusty run away with the wishbone?

Been pretty darn strict to protocol except for a half a deviled egg on VLCD6 & 14 otherwise not even as much as licking a finger when making my sons Mac & Cheese which was the hardest thing EVER! Did I say EVER? I meant E-V-E-R!!!! Ughhhhh! Rare occasions I have to eat after 7:00 (son and baseball) only because I feel dizzy and lightheaded... if I'm feeling okay I won't eat at all even if I haven't had 500 calories that day. TOM came on VLCD11-15 which was early and thought maybe that was the reason why I was stalling out a bit but doesn't seem to be the case. I'm a part-time fitness instructor after I leave my full-time job and teach two pretty intense classes a few days a week... One is weight training for an hour and the other is a cardio class for 45 minutes so if that's what's causing my stalls I'm T-R-O-U-B-L-E AND in trouble! Can't get out of those... I'm not complaining because so far I've lost 16.4 lbs in 18 days so I'm THRILLED with that however I'd like to make the most out of this round and the next 8 days if at all possible and I've seen the Wasa magic in these posts so.... can I be next?!?

Here's a run down of the past seven days: This might be long... I couldn't get it to line up side by side... 1/2 servings are 1/2 of the 3.5 oz or 100 gram allotment allowed... only seasonings listed as accepted. I weigh each morning around 6:30 and my hubby gives me my injections each morning around 7:00. I'm 41, 5'1.5" and bit on the muscular side AND as the song goes... "when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist. And a round thing in your face...." that's me! Girl got her some junk in the trunk!!! I'm PHAT fo sho!

There it is.... I think I covered most everything... let me know if I missed something and I'll come back and add it... I just can't find a pattern of why the stalls or gains but knew if I posted here the awesomesauce Wasa would get me on the right track!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and helping out! I know you have all kinds of other things you could be doing! It's much appreciated!

YES! What is this potassium thing?

(Not officially a turkey because I thought I had to be in R2 to be one...) BUT, I've read Wasa's Wonderworking Tweaks through the thread and, based on what she has suggested to others, I tweaked my protocol. (Don't kill me...)

I had been operating right at or below protocol almost faithfully for 21 days. Never anything off protocol (I did taste a spaghetti sauce because I scorched it and wanted to see if I had to throw it out for the family. It was less than 1/2 tsp.) I then went off protocol on Easter weekend and gained 3 lbs. I got up and got on with life.

    Background:

I used to weigh almost 500 lbs. (489 to be precise). I had gastric bypass almost 11 years ago. I lost 350 lbs. total and gained about 50 of them back in about 4-5 years. I've had some reconstruction surgery done and I'm getting ready to have another one on June 8 and that's what prompted me to look into losing some more weight. (I saw HCG on Dr. Oz and researched it.)

I'm getting a side flank and a brachioplasty (my arms). Three months after that, I'm having my boobs done- no implants, just all the excess removed. I'm currently a DD and he said I should be a B once he's finished-- YAHOO! This next surgery he estimates will take about 12 lbs. of skin off. So, target weight, I've set at 159lbs simply because that's the number that puts me in the BMI category of "normal" (HA, not that the BMI calculations are a true measure of anything really...) I'm just not sure what weight I would look best at, given that the 12 lbs being removed is from a concentrated area. I digress..... my lowest weight after gastric bypass was 138 lbs. I really did not look well then (but I wasn't...another story entirely)

I am currently on R1P2 VLCD 32, injection day 34. I stalled and gained for about 2 weeks right around my TOM- got discouraged, but stayed the course. I figured since I have just a few days remaining, I am going to hit it hard and tweak as much as possible. Based on Wasa's comments to previous posters, I have tweaked the past two days:

Tuesday- modified steak day; nothing all day, tons of water and a nice smoked (in my smoker), 8 ounce ribeye with steak seasoning (I made the seasoning to make certain I knew what was in it!), The ribeye had a tad bit of marbling, but visible fat removed. Yesterday, I woke up to a 2.8 lbs. weight loss. WOOHOO! (Ate at 5 pm)

Wednesday- fish day; 17.5 ounces of baked/broiled tilapia with seasonings and lemon juice, eaten throughout the day, with the last portion being finished by 5:30 pm. This morning, I woke up to a 2 lbs. loss. I'm in the 160's (169.6, but still...

Today- I'm doing another steak day, exactly the same as above. We'll see what happens. Not expecting as much.

    Tomorrow.. I'm open for suggestions.

Total loss thus far: 22.4 lbs, 18.25 inches

BTW, I've never eaten the melba. I knew that was not a good thing for me. Some days I ate two apples and, until right at my TOM stall, I had eaten the same thing every day- 3.5 ounces of tilapia for lunch with 2-4 cups of spinach and lemon juice, baked, sliced apple with cinnamon (no sweeteners), dinner: 3.5 ounces (pre-cooked) chicken, 2-4 cups of spinach with lemon. Most of the times I ate my apples as snacks and generally only ate one. I got into eating tomatoes too.. broiled with seasonings, yummy.

I have problems with constipation and have used mag citrate. Not a fan. I have major problems with actual bowel blockages (hospitalizations, etc.) Based on what I read on this thread, I contacted Scott @ PoopDoc and he recommended a bowel protocol for me. Bought it and it was shipped this morning. I hope this is my lifelong solution with no more bowel blockages!

I think that's about it. Did I leave anything out? Feel free to input, chastise, tell me to go away, etc. Would love suggestions on tweaking for tomorrow.

    Warmly,

    Brandi

    I may

Theresa - a loss is a loss.. I'd take one any day of the week

Karli - I'm so **** that I have a printout in my bathroom. I write it down the moment I weigh. Often before I get to my Excel spreadsheet I've forgotten and had to go back and check.

    Nicole - woot ..P2 round 2!

brender - nice drops the last couple of weeks

Trouble - wow.... just wow.. LoL More turkey then I've every gobbled up

Julie - nice job on the 1.6!

PSB - it will settle in. Just have to get in the flow. All things in moderation (says the wild turkey). BUT I for the most part with the exception of a couple of gremlin moments.. I don't let the scale rule my day. One thing I learned from my previous rounds is I can correct gains and I can enjoy food, etc.

Randi - whoohoo for another 1 lb!

Janet - good luck on your all beef day

Wasa - See!! Yummilishious goodness ..now add some of the KAL stevia too it.. and some smuckers simply fruit or apple butter or berries.

Brandi - welcome fellow WLSer. I'm a lapbander. Sounds like I'm from a foreign country. Highest weight was 350 lbs. Band in 2005 at 320 lbs. Lost 150 lbs in 17 months. Had a lower body lift (15 lbs of excess skin), then arms and boobs, then a medial thigh lift. Gained back about 50 over the course of 3 years and found HCG last summer.

Not good. At least eat the protein. You'll stall your losses.

TOM came on VLCD11-15 which was early and thought maybe that was the reason why I was stalling out a bit but doesn't seem to be the case.

    There it is....

I don't see any gains... an the loses are really very good. The fact that you're muscular and have a regular fitness pattern wil help the burn.. The only thing that i se is that you eat carbs (tomato) late. It will burn first. Keep the carbs low or nil at night. The one slow day.... the .2 loss, you ate late the day before. You made up for it the following day, but you can see that the late eating hit the scale in the am.

I wouldn't change anything but that. And still , we're human. It's hard to control every circumstance of every day....I think you're doing a great job.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and helping out! I know you have all kinds of other things you could be doing! It's much appreciated!

Geez Brandi you have gone through a lot with more to come! I was hoping to see some before and after pictures on your profile. I saw the before pictures on your blog. To lose 350 pounds, even with the gain of 50 back is incredible. Wtg!

T-R-O-U-B-L-E love your energy. It was fun reading your posts

LMAO! Amen to that. Those sneaky old ladies.

Roxie- totally feeling you. I am scared to DEATH that I will return to my old ways. I know it's in my hands, but I can't tell you how many times in the past that I knew I was out of control and didn't do anything about it. In fact last night while I was showering it hit me for the first time that I will never again be able to sit in bed watching TV downing an entire bag of tortilla chips and fresca from Cafe Rio. It took me 5 weeks of p2 to realize that. Crazy! I stood there thinking about how I was going to stop myself, how much is too much, etc... It's easy in p2 where there are rules, p3 a little harder, p4 watch out. What everyone else has said inspired me and hope it helped ease your fears like it did mine. Fears are still there, but now I know I am always going to have to be on this gobble thread That's not too bad.

AFM- I am sooooooo happy my fish days are OVER! If I have to look at another fish in the next couple weeks i will throw up on the freaking spot, I swear it! I am down .3 and coming closer and closer to the scary p3. This morning I made my husband his first p3 breakfast and lunch. It was so hard. That man needs to cook for himself!

WASA if you see this... Im eating the steak with a tomatoe tonight... do I HAVE to have the tomatoe? I hate them with a passion. If I have to I'll do it tho. Heck I did two fish days whats a tomatoe after that.

NO! YOU HAVE TO DO AN APPLE! I never suggest the tomato...

Sherri - woohooo no more fish days!

    Okay.. the potassium thing.

Restaurant meals tend to be high in sodium. A lot of the gain (at least for me) after eating out I feel is from salt. Potassium taken in about the same level as sodium should keep some of the water retention at bay.

"kidneys respond to excess sodium by flushing it out in the urine. Unfortunately, this also removes potassium. If potassium levels are low, the body tries to hoard it, which also means hanging onto sodium. Water follows sodium, leading to an increase in the amount of water in the body and the volume of blood in circulation. Blood pressure climbs, and the heart must work harder. Excess sodium blunts the ability of blood vessels to relax and contract with ease, and may also overstimulate the growth of heart tissue. All of these responses are made worse by low potassium intake."

Hence the reason I blow up after high sodium meals and it takes days to come back down.

So.. the plan.. make the rest of the day a potassium filled day and perhaps the next one also. You want foods that are high in potassium but low in sodium.

Bananas, avocado, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, salmon, black bean, oranges, potato.. There's a list that goes on and on at http://nutritiondata.self.com/foods-...3000000-w.html and you can narrow it by category.

For me.. Sunday will be a banana in the morning. A salad at lunch loaded with spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers and avocado. I'll also have a potato at dinner that night at the restaurant and tell me no salt on the skin (if they do that).
    We shall see.
