Thread: HCG Veterans Back in the Game

  1. #85
For those interested in trying to drop wheat-I bought a spiralizer (I think this one; http://www.amazon.com/Paderno-World-...ini+spiralizer) and I use it mainly for zucchini spirals to substitute for spaghetti. I just add tomato sauce and meatballs and it's super good!!! I don't normally bother to sub out a food, I typically try to give it up b/c the tricked out version is never as good as the real thing, but thin this case, I actually really enjoy it. I also use it to make spiral sweet potato fries and my whole family likes that.

love to read all this - exactly what I need right now - I am on conference call 2 of 3 today and they have been really intense - working from home I found myself wandering into the kitchen to see what was there .... didn't touch anything but it is so scary that I can be doing so well on HCG but a tiny bit of stress reminds me how binging can numb me ... doesn't take the stress away long term but such a crutch for me ....

I feel that I am over it but it was really scary to see myself smell the nacho chips in the "carb cupboard" ....

Just popping in to say hello and congrats to all on the losses!

I'm in week 3 now. Scale was down 0.4 so I'm back to where I was the day I fell off the wagon. Hope this week produces some good losses for all of us.

Wondering about getting some injections in case I need another round.
Just read Weight Loss Apocalypse which gave me new resolve.
Currently getting back to the ticker weight.

Wow, so many interesting stories and insights, and so many people facing some of the same challenges. I can totally relate to many of them. I won't be able to hit everyone, but here's my attempt to catch up:

Mandy and others who chimed in, hCG is a mental struggle for me too. While I don't feel hungry, I do feel deprived. I like to eat! And I certainly don't fully have my food demons under control. I do really well in P3 but P4 just kills me (LOVED Leann's comment that "in past rounds all those foods were "waiting for me""...perfect summary of my prior P4s!!). Moderation isn't in my vocab, apparently! Then one day off the wagon without weighing turns into 2, then a week, then a month. All of that time in denial that the weight was creeping back up. And then one day I was just too scared to get back on the scale because I knew it was going to be bad . Like Shirli said, it's also hard admitting you need to come back to hCG and the forums.

I too worry all of the time about the example I'm setting for my boys and the foods we keep on hand to feed them. My twins have a genetic condition and one of the symptoms is low appetite, often confused with failure to thrive. So we actually have to give them appetite stimulants and supplement all of their food with a carb-based calorie powder (crazy, huh?). We've pretty much always struggled to get as much food in them as possible. As a result when my youngest was born (he's 3 1/2) we continued with that mentality. I've only in the last year started taking a totally different approach - I let him decide if he needs to eat. If he's just not hungry, we don't force it. No more clean plate club. I have to remind myself and my husband that if he misses a meal, it's not a big deal (unlike with my twins where every missed meal opportunity is a cause for concern). It's tough to balance. We still let our youngest choose some unhealthy options now and then, but they have to be balanced with a good option. He's got an average weight/height ratio now, but I want to make sure I'm giving him all the tools he needs to make healthy choices that he can also love. It's been really difficult on hCG because there's no way he's eating the same food I'm eating (super spicy everything), and prepping whole other meals for him and then the twins means I'm making 3 meals for every meal (thankfully my husband is self-sufficient most of the time!). Must keep reminding myself, it's only for 30-40 days.

Kim, absolutely loving the spiralizer! We love pasta and I would love to try this out on my little one.

Leann, I work from home too. It's good (I can fix hCG meals that I like rather than deal with dry chicken and salad), but bad (can be tempting to surf the cupboards out of boredom, stress, whatever).

Good for you runners! I've never had the stamina (or knees!) to do it so I applaud anyone who can.

Lydia, best of luck on your new job prospects! You got a little shortchanged on your lobster though! I usually get a 1 pounder and get about 4 ounces of meat. Do you pull out the leg meat too? It's not a ton but I get every little bit when I shuck lobsters . When we did king crab the other night I was in the lobster mindset for ratio of shells to meat. D'oh! I bought 1.5 lbs for me and hubby and you get so much more meat from the crab. I had a serving left over after eating my portion. It was delicious!

PB, I'm sorry you are struggling so much. This round has definitely been challenging for you. I wish I had some useful advise for you but I'm just not sure what would be better, taking a few weeks off and doing another round or sticking it out for a long one. Have you done enough days to call it a short round? I'll catch you over in the Rogue thread too.

AFM, -1.0 of my 2lb gain, giving me a less than stellar total weeks loss of -4 (-3 if you remove the 1lb gain from my PI). My joints feel less puffy today but the bloat isn't entirely gone. It can't be anything I ate yesterday so I blame it solely on TOM. 7 more days of VLCD and then I need to make some decisions. My averages are still good. Not my best round, not my worst round, somewhere just in the middle. I'll take it!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful hCG Tuesday. Think positive, losing thoughts!

Cindy, if you haven't already, do read Wheat Belly. He talks about "failure to thrive" in the book and the impact that undiagnosed celiac disease has on small children. Might be worth a read even if you've already explored all the possibilities.
    VLCD1: 8/12
    Round: Too many to count
    Phase: 2
Method: Switched to injections from drops on 9/7

    Goal for this round:

    Overall goal somewhere under 135...

Cindy I hear ya on the TOM bloat. I got up this morning and I swear I looked pg. Geez didn't think I was taking that much hcg LOL TOM is not playing nice, I really wish he'd go away for good. He spends way too much time at my house.

Yes I have enough shots in to call it a short round. Took my 23rd today. I posted over on the cycling thread. Thinking maybe I'll do a 2 week cycle off and then go back for another short round. I don't want to make the round length any shorter than my vial and waste a lot of HCG. I don't mind staying on the full round, it's easy to do since I'm not hungry. Just think this round was such a mess a reset might be in order. Not sure there is any way to save it this far in.

poobear - I think you made the right choice; enjoy P3 and good luck on the cycling

cindy - don't beat yourself up - you have a lot on your plate and when we don't have time to take care of ourselves, the food has always been a comfort - we just need to find better comforts ... I love food too ... it doesn't love me ... I try to think of it this way -- if I had a daughter and she really loved a boy, but he didn't love her back and didn't treat her well and made her feel like crap about herself - would I want her to love him? so - food is an ill mannered boyfriend - really not worth it ....

Well - 3rd conference call of 3 done -- with all the follow up in between I didn't eat any of the food I was looking at, but I didn't eat lunch either ... yikes - just chowing down my spinnach and shrimp now ...

here is my dieting dilemna - I need to stay up late to get work done - I need to go to bed early to avoid eating .... hmmmmmmmm - the diet has won but the work needs to be addressed ......

    Kim and Smoochy,

I have the same gizmo and I use it all the time, especially in P2. I use it to slice cucumbers nice and thin. I sprinkle them with salt and put a weight on them to drain, then add ACV, minced onion, dill and pepper flakes. Goes great with fish.

    Have fun with it!

    Hello all!
I'm in week 3 of VLCD - I am a veteran, lost 25 lbs last year before getting pregnant! I held it off and stabilized for 4 months and then I got pregnant and forgot everything I learned about dieting and enjoyed food for a 68lb gain! Hahaha impressive huh!
So now I'm down 40lbs, lost 14 on HCG so far nd need to get 25lbs more off! I have had a tons of success so far but the food is getting bland and I need some partners in crime!!!

Lets do this!!! I am doing a 6 week round and working hard to reach my goal!
