Thread: P2 grapefruit?

    P2 grapefruit?

    Hi, I'm on p2 day 5, and wanted to know if I can eat the the whole grapefruit or need to 1/2 it to equal my 2 fruit portion for the day? I ask this bc after I pero the grapefruit, it isn't as big as it looks and could equal the size of a med-large apple. Advise?

    Sounds like you can eat the whole grapefruit as one fruit portion. I look for the small ones when I'm shopping for P2, so that I can do that as well. (Around softball sized is about right). Technically, you could eat a giant one, but since you have to figure that into your 500 calories, it would crowd out some of your other foods.

    Hi Leez,
    I'm up 0.2 today, in phase 2 day 8. This is my first increase since starting on 1/5. I've had small losses have had smaller losses this rd. My last FDA was last yr in October. I started out losing 1.8 and and have decreased as time goes but today was an increase of 0.2. Here is my food in a nutshell


    Coffee with 1tsp heavy cream
    Lunch- 3.5 oz chicken breast with 1 cup lettuce
    Runner-up same as lunch, with hot sauce.
    Fruit- I was doing 1 apple a day that I would split, 1/2 midday, 1/2 before dinner. I tried grapefruit instead of apple one day and I only lost 0.2 the ne t morning so I stopped it & back to apple.
    Drinking-water, with lemon, green tea

    Can you help me figure this out, I've never gained in p3 before, & I'm feeling discouraged.

    Heavy cream is not on protocol. You can have 1 T. whole milk, however.

    Try making that change. Its 2 grams fat in tsp cream vs half a gram in 1 T. milk.

    Also you can eat more than 1 C. lettuce. If you are only eating lettuce and chicken, try changing up with some of the other allowed foods. Sometimes that can jog losses.

    Ok I'll cut out the cream. Does it matter that it didnt seen to affect me the last 7 days? Also Van I do light exercise to get a restart the wt loss?

    The protocol is very fat sensitive, in fact very sensitive to any changes. It could be that you are fine now, but have issues stabilizing in P3 from variations of the allowed foods. You might be able to get away with the cream if you choose seafood as your protein, as it is lower in fat than other options and would make up the difference in fat. But again, its an experiment because you can't know how it will affect things down the road.

    You can do walking as exercise without affecting your progress. Starting anything new can interfere. Some light stretching could work, but even that can cause a bit of muscle inflammation, which could show up as a stall or even a temporary gain.
