Thread: Peanut Butter Day

  1. #1

    Question Peanut Butter Day

    VCLD26 - homeopathic HCG - 10.8 lbs released, 9.2 lbs to go.

Alright. This sounds crazy. And maybe a tiny bit of a fluke, but I'd like your thoughts. Two days ago, I woke up at 6:00 am and was sitting on a 1 lb gain that I assumed was water weight. I was really hungry so I ate my lunch for breakfast (3 oz chicken breast, + baked veggie) and was going to eat my dinner for lunch and then just lay low the rest of the day because I wouldn't have had any food left to eat. But then at about 8:00 am something came over me and I ravenously started searching for anything to eat right before I left the house -- it wasn't really hunger it was more anxiety because I started a new job that day.

Anyways, I ended up eating 5 HEAPING spoonfulls of peanut butter at 8:30 am. I'm talking hugeeeee. And I left the house. I decided to just drink a ton of water and take the loss. I fasted the rest of the day, which turned into 24 hours, eating my breakfast at 8:30 the next morning. I also took 2 water release pills to combat any crazy water weight I may hold onto because of the cheat.

Well..I woke up and lost 3 pounds. LOST 3 POUNDS!!! I must have weighed myself 10 times. My batteries in my scale are new. The scale itself is brand new. I thought "there's no way. My weight will bounce back up tomorrow." I ate my standard VLCD meals and snacks yesterday and was completely expecting a gain of that three pounds and then some. But no. I LOST 0.6 MORE POUNDS!

My question is...did I just find a crazy trick to kick my body back into fat burning mode? I'd been stuck between 137.8 and 138.2 for nearly a week and then I eat a crap ton of peanut butter and ... BOOM. 135 lbs. ????

Does anyone know what happened here? Should I try it again in about a week and see if it has another positive effect?

There have been other accounts of people believing that they break through a stall by having some kind of fat bomb. Eating a handful of macadamia nuts was one "remedy". Or eating coconut oil. So a bunch of people would try it and then gain or stall.

What happened was you had a "whoosh".

Its explained in the protocol this way: as the fat is used from your fat cells, they temporarily fill with water. That water is eventually released. My thought is that it is a coincidence that your whoosh happened after a big cheat, and you were going to get it anyway. You probably lost even more water from the 24 hour fast.

It turns out my body is a huge fan of peanut butter. I had another three days of unimpressive losses and I decided to risk it and try the peanut butter day again -- this time making it intentional. I woke up at 8:30, ate 4 heaping spoonfuls of peanut butter and drank my coffee. Then fasted until 8:30 the next morning, and I dropped 2 more lbs. I thought "okay, this still might be a fluke, I'll see if I gain it all back tomorrow." Sure enough, another 1.4 lbs dropped this morning after eating a normal VLCD diet yesterday.

I'm actually shocked, but I wanted to share my experience.

    Very interesting.

No one knows for sure how this kind of thing impacts the overall effects of the diet, or the stabilization period (which is even more important, in my opinion.)

It might be helpful to keep track of that data as well once you get into P3.

Hey y'all! Just wanted to update you on my progress:

I'm P3D12 and currently 0.4 lbs UNDER my LDW. I've had to do one steak day, but that was due to not enough fat and too many carby veggies that day, and just a general lack of calories as a whole. I am practicing intermittent fasting as I feel the best eating the majority of my calories in the morning and afternoon - that keeps me right at my LDW! I'm feeling great, having regular BM's, drinking lots of water, and eating A LOT of fat. Macadamia nuts, almond butters, peanut butters (I know it's not protocol but my body loves loves loves peanut butter so I'm going with it. I always release lb's the days I have peanut butter) whole 30 approved bacon, eggs, chicken thighs, it's all happening here. I do best when I stick to minimal veggies - just a couple serves of broccoli and cauliflower through the day. Too many carbs and my weight spikes, but the fibre I am consuming mixed with the fat is keeping my digestion regular. I'll gradually increase my veggie intake as I stabilise, slowly but surely. I'm starting to see some reshaping happening which isn't always my favourite thing, but it's okay. You can't keep a P2 tummy forever unfortunately. I'll keep updating!
