Tiffy, so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandfather. It really is never easy. Wishing for comfort for you and your family.

I woke up today and was .2 up, but think it's almost TOM for me. Ugh. Have been craving sweet things today. I always do when it's about time and definitely feeling bloated. Yuck. Should probably stay away from the scale for a few days, but don't think I'll be able to do that. Just have to remind myself that it WILL go back down.

Tiffy-so sorry about your loss. You can never be prepared for the loss of a loved one. Good job staying strong, especially in memory of your grandfather. Use him for strength. You are doing so well!

yfragile-I was up a little with TOM on the horizon and then had a standstill for a couple of days, you're right, it will drop back in a few days.

I was feeling hungry about an 90 mins after lunch so made a protein shake with Jay Robb vanilla whey, water and frozen strawberries. Did the trick! I think since the HCG is leaving my body, I am getting hungrier. I will add a little bit extra protein to my vlcd tonight and tomorrow.

    Hi, All!
I have two questions for the veterans ...

    1. I've read a few of you mention Jay Robb whey when discussing your protein shakes. Why choose that brand over others? Is it HCG-friendly?

    2. Does anyone know why we must have different proteins for lunch and dinner? Is this a big rule, or does anyone deviant from it without issue?

    Thanks!

tiffy--My heart goes out to you! It is a wonderful thing that you are able to find strength in his passing and feel that encouragement. I'm sure it is one of many ways that his love for you will continue to be present in your life.

ailuj--there's a couple of other brands of protein powder that are HCG friendly but not many, I think some prefer the taste of Jay Robb. Also Jay Robb has an egg white protein and whey protein, whereas some other brands only have the whey protein option.
and on mixing proteins, I found this quote from grammy/Colleen:
"We don't have to have different anything. That's a Trudeau addition. I often ate the exact same meal for lunch and dinner. It's WISE to change it up so you don't develop an allergy but it doesn't affect the weight loss at all. :-) "

Welp my stall is clearly underway and I can only assume it is TOM a few days early. Right on time with the full moon though. Oh, and eclipse tonight, ladies! Starts at 11pm Pacific, 2am Eastern! I'm so excited haha

VLCD21, my halfway mark...11 lb loss so halfway to my goal as well...gotta keep the determination strong!!!

Thanks, tumbleweed, for the valuable info. I thought the "no repeating proteins" rule was a bit extreme, even for the hcg diet. I was asking mainly due to my upcoming business trip. I plan on taking pouches of tuna, in case the food brought into meetings isn't hcg-friendly. Worst case: I eat tuna for lunch and dinner, hence, my question about proteins. Fortunately, it's a quick trip (two days), so I'll manage.

VLCD19 for me ... 23 more VLCDs to go. But since we have to eat a VLCD diet for three days after we stop hcg drops/injections, it's really 26 more VLCDs to go, so I'm a few days shy of the half-way mark. I think 11 lbs gone in 20 days is amazing, tumbleweed, so keep it up! (And enjoy the eclipse! That's 1am here in Chicago, so I don't know if I'll be able to stay awake and catch it or not.)

    Best wishes, All!

I'm also curious about protein smoothies! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Smoothie King, but I was looking at their nutrition page and found this: http://www.smoothieking.com/smoothie...tail.php?id=74

0g fat, 0g sugar, 180 calories, 45g protein. Do you guys think this would be an acceptable meal replacement?

jd the 20oz looks like it'd be almost 2 meals. Also no way to know if they are putting in more than a fruit serving, it would probably be your 2 servings of fruit for the day AND almost your 2 proteins. Also you'd have to contact the company and get the exact ingredients in what they're using to know what all is in there. I would strongly advise against it

Just to join in on the Jay Robb discussion, I use it every day. Really do think it's one of the best out there. I have a protein shake in the a.m. with Jay Robb protein powder, strawberries and almond milk. This is definitely rogue! So, beware! I lose just fine on this and have had no issues stabilizing in later rounds.

As far as the Smoothie King thing goes, I've thought about it myself, but haven't tried it. Tumbleweed is right in saying that you don't know exactly what they're putting in it. I may go give it a try and will report back!

This morning was at the same weight again. Definitely a stall for TOM!

Thanks for everyone's nice thoughts and prayers. I really do appreciate it!

I use the Designer Whey protein powder for protein shakes. I get it from Trader Joe's. My doctor recommended them because they use Stevia in it and it's 100 calories a scoop. Sometimes I add my fruit to them too. I have also tried the Jay Robb ones too. Both are pretty good and never have been an issue for me. I like them because it's a super quick fix for busy days or days I just don't feel like any more meat! I have heard some people do have issues with whey though so just be careful.

I love Designer a Whey- I use the coconut almond milk unsweetened - only 35 cals per cup so you can have yummy shake for under 135 cals. And unlike some stuff this protein powder really fills you up!

Just want to add that a lot of people say they lose fine with whey protein and can stabilize in P3 with no issues BUT some lose fine using it and then *can't stabilize* in P3, which really sucks. So losses are not the only thing to consider. Everyone's bodies are really so different! And whey is not in the original protocol. That's just my note for those in R1

Ok so long miserable weekend- just got power back after 2 days without power- very little sleep and sore throat continues. Throw in very little sleep and my entire system is off- I went down 2 pounds and now back up 2 pounds which I really think is all water retention ect....I should really just chuck the scale. :-)

I'm just glad I can try to get back to normal this week....on the bright side- in the last 21 days I've lost about 13 pounds, 1.5 inches off my hips, 1.5 inches off my belly and about 3/4 inch off my thigh-

So I am getting there slowly but surely.
