Thread: Who's Doing Final Round Starting Late Sept or Early Oct 2011?

  1. #193
Ok, so I had the hamburger patties, a little mustard and dill relish. So do you guys think I am really not eating enough maybe and that is why I am gaining, surely not. What about eggs? Do or don't for breakfast? Night!

So I was down a little this morning.. nothing great, but guess down is still a good direction. Right!? LOL!

So I had 2 eggs and 1 large pork chop. I know I was considering no pork, but I had already bought it and DH and I have to eat it. Thought if I only have for BAB it might fly. We will see. Going home for lunch now and going to have a large chicken salad dry I guess. I have nothing but lettuce and chicken to really make it. But have the chicken cooked already and have a ton of salad that needs to be eaten. Had DH put a roast with onions and celery in the crockpot and hope to have that for dinner with more salad I guess. And we will see how tomorrow looks. He is sitting right at LDW and I am still 6.6 up... but such is life.

Lastly, can't decide if it is smart to have any cocoa crack today or not. Suspect I will want some though. May try to avoid. Not sure what else I will be able to do with CO besides that, since I only am cooking eggs really.

Just really frustrated, wanted to go into Thanksgiving confident and not feeling it yet. Granted I still have another week. I just need to relax I guess! Later ladies! Thanks as always for listening.

Down is good! My scale didn't move today, but I'll take it. I had my usual breakfast of sausage and eggs, a 7oz tub of 2% Fage and some cashews for lunch, and devoured an entire 14 ounce rib-eye for dinner last night, then some pork rinds (me and the pork again, geeze) for a snack. I was HUNGRY lol. Same brekky today, an avocado at work, and hubby had Delmonico steak and broccoli made for lunch when I got home. Just eyeballing it I'd have to say it was about eight ounces. I did work out this morning, but after those huge meals I should probably go easy on dinner. I'm up five, Tangle, you're not alone there. I'm angry at myself for not being able to keep my weight steady but I'm at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong. While I'm trying to wriggle out of five pounds and trying desperately not to gain more, hubby is trying to gain weight, so I'm shoving 4000 cals a day, protein shakes, and supplements down his throat and he still can't mange to hold on to a pound or two for more than a day. He's already a big, muscley guy and can eat any damn thing he wants. I cut starchy carbs out of his diet and made my house a completely wheat-free zone last week and he has lost two inches off his waist. Stupid men.

I have been putting the CO in my coffee and only making the crack on days I'm craving sweets. I use the regular extra virgin that tastes like coconut and I just love what it does for my coffee! Why are you avoiding the coconut oil? I haven't seen anybody anywhere that had gaining issues with it. Am I missing something? Maybe I should lay off for a few days and see what happens. I don't think I have gone a day without CO since I started P3.

I like oil & vinegar on my salads. I have a chicken out to roast for dinner, but I forgot that wrestling practice is tonight so I don't know if it will be done in time.

I wanted the same for Thanksgiving, but I don't think it's going to happen. I feel silly being so upset over five pounds, but damnit I worked to get them off, they should have stayed off! I was excited yesterday when I bought the coconut flour but now I'm afraid to use it because I never have before and I don't know how I'll react to it.

Random irrelevancy, I watched Tangled with my daughters last night. My youngest wants her hair to grow as long as Rapunzel's

I am not really avoiding the coconut oil, just wondering if I should be avoiding the chocolate aspect of it. So I go home around 1 for lunch and DH hadn't started roast, so told him not to bother.. I didn't think it would have time to be done by 6 tonight. Guess we can polish off the hamburger patties or I will hit the store on the way home. Or I might send him shortly. But I hate sending him to buy meat anymore. I am so picky when comparing price and size and cuts. He ends up calling me and telling me everything that is there and I get annoyed and would just rather go myself.

I like coconut flour, but can't find enough recipes for it that don't call for sweeteners that I am not sure how to replace properly. I have made good pancakes with it. I have tried minute muffin recipes with it too. But I haven't done much else and I haven't tried it again this round other than a botched minute muffin. But that was cooking issue really, not the flour. I think you would be safe to try it, but I would say only in the morning, not at later meals... but maybe that is just my take on things. I wouldn't do it and flax meal items on the same day at least. Let us know how it goes!!!

And yes, my youngest wants her's that long too. She sings the "Mother Knows Best" song to me all the time... not realizing exactly the meaning of the song. That is what the MKB part stands for...btw!

Based on all I've read, I think the CO is absolutely on our side and we don't have to worry about it. I think it's more insulin response or food sensitivities to watch out for.

I didn't weigh in this morning and that felt great. Candace, you said your scale didn't move, but your previous post said you needed to move it out of sight! ;-) I saw your before and after pictures. Wow. You have come so far and you look fabulous! I can understand why 5 lbs gained is frustrating you. That said, you're in the 120s, a very healthful weight for your height, right? So maybe your body is seeking its optimal size/shape. If your clothes still fit, no one's gonna know what your scale says from day to day. PUT IT AWAY NOW, LOL!!!

Tangle, you keep asking about chocolate and eggs. I don't know. Everyone is different. Some people have problems with them. I don't. But I have problems with cabbage and most people don't. So listen to your internal compass and the feedback you see on the scale and experiment until you figure out what really works and doesn't for you. I'm still learning, too. I also learned that, while certain foods are OK for me later on in maintenance, if I try them too soon in P3, I gain.

Candace you asked what a day's menu is like for me. Usually I'll have one large cup of coffee (about 50% decaf) with hwc and some xylitol or Truvia. Sometimes a piece of fruit for breakfast (yesterday was a mango...yum). Then, later in the morning, when I'm hungry, a brunch of 2 or 3 eggs and 3-5 slices of Beeler's bacon (BEST bacon!). I'll have one or two additional larger meals each day, depending on my hunger. One favorite is a taco salad: seasoned ground beef with chopped tomatoes, cheddar, avocado, salsa and sour cream on a bed of arugula. Another favorite meal is caprese salad: tomato slices with buffalo mozzarella, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. You already know about my NY strip, seared in CO with butter-drenched crimini mushrooms over the top. Heaven. If I drink, it's usually red wine. A snack might be some FFF with a tablespoon of sour cherry preserves...better than cheesecake if you ask me! Or another fruit. Or just a big ol' tomato with salt. Or cheese and olives. I eat dark chocolate whenever I feel the urge, which is most days. Sometimes I'll eat raw, soaked almonds with my dark chocolate, sprinkled with a bit of sea salt. Boy, reading this makes me realize that I know how to LIVE! :-) Grateful for having learned this way of eating for life. Now, if I could afford it more easily, that would really be great!!!

Haha, busted! Thank you, and you're right. Yes I am at a healthy weight for my height, I just have a good bit of jiggle left on my thighs that really bothers me. Maybe I'll just have to learn to accept it. I am going upstairs right now to put the scale away somewhere not easily accessible!

Well, I am in a better place this morning. Down 1.6 lbs this morning. Funny to be happy to see 156 range...but such is life. So going to try similar tactics today. I am still 5 lbs over LDW... but if I can get back under 155, that won't be so bad.

So guess I am sensitive to a lot of stuff I like. Not fun. So the process of deciding exactly what I can have and can't isn't going to be fun. I will just try to stay off anything questionable till Thanksgiving, enjoy what I want on T-day and then recover from that and start looking for my sensitivities carefully. So no dairy or nuts till Thanksgiving which for me is really Saturday after Thanksgiving. It will be a challenge for sure being home much of next week, but if I really challenge myself, then I can do it I guess. I got a lot of bacon and eggs and rib eye steaks. Should be able to make it. For me the scale will be motivation enough, if it stays in a good range and I make progress that will help keep me motivated to stay on the straight and narrow.

So this morning was pork chops and eggs, lunch will be hamburger and salad and dinner will be the pot roast and veggies that I started in the crockpot this morning... LOL!

This is the list of everything I am going to avoid... fingers crossed for me: (cause in all honesty, it is a little boring without some of these things, but then again, boring for 8-9 days never killed anyone, and it will save me on the grocery bill some too probably!)
    Flax Meal
    Almond Flour
    HWC
    Yogurt
    Cheese
    Milk

Did have a large serving of Coconut Oil and chocolate last night for dessert after steak and salad, so guess that isn't a problem (guess I am still not over the mental issue with Chocolate being forbidden that I still tend to blame it first) and eggs must not be a major issue for me. Though I am still a little nervous about having them at times outside of BAB and/or having more than 2/3 per day really. I would rather have more meat anyway, so that isn't the worst deal. Just that I liked making egg salad at times for lunch, so I may try that till the hard boiled eggs I already have run out and I will share with my youngest... she likes them too.

Ok, so that is the game plan... I will try to check in as much as I can to let you all know how I do. Harder for me when I am at home, cause I don't have much computer time at all with kiddos and long to-do lists! Taking 1/2 day off today and can't fathom how I will get everything in that is on my list as is. Also, had a bit more energy last night than lately and was in a better mood after work... how weird is that!

As always, thanks for listening to me ramble and talk to myself! Have a great day ladies!

Woo hoo on your 1.6! I avoid milk too, but I have a little cheese sometimes and use a ton of hwc in my coffee. Probably a tablespoon per cup and I have at least four cups a day. I thought cream was okay. Hmm. Not sure what I weigh today (ahem, Laura :P) , but the last few I days haven't had any flax and I haven't gained. Maybe I should put that on my no-no list for awhile along with the almond flour. I did make coconut flour pancakes (and sausage, of course) for breakfast this morning and I seriously could have eaten them until I puked. They were a little dry so I'll add a bit of coconut oil to it next time, but oh my they were delicious. Hubby said he prefers the ones that I usually make (half flax, half almond flour), these ones tasted too much like pancakes. Lol that's kind of the point, silly. I'm going to weigh tomorrow and see how I react to the coconut flour, then the scale is going away again for a few days while I cut out the flax and almond flour.
Tomorrow night some girlfriends and I are going to the theater to see Breaking Dawn, so today's goal is to make my own snacks to take along. No idea what yet, but it sure isn't going to be popcorn!

My legs and butt are killing me today, perhaps I overdid the workout yesterday. Oh well, it felt good. We went in this morning and I did upper body and ran a few miles on the treadmill--I'm up to 7mph on a 3 incline, which is awesome for me. I usually run outside at home with my dog, it feels so different on the treadmill. Then DH pulled me out of my happy place (I love running) and peer pressured me into some TRX training. It was different, not sure if I like it yet.

Chocolate is not forbidden unless it's pre-made with a tone of sugar! Cocoa is full of flavonoids and phenyl ethylamine (a mood elevator) and I'm sure there are other benefits that I'm not thinking of right now. I have never heard anything negative about natural, unsweetened chocolate. Enjoy your cocoa crack!

I'm off to Pinterest to look for safe Thanksgiving dinner dishes and theater snacks! Have a great day, girls!

Good plan, Tangle! Candace, sounds like you're doing well, too.

Newsflash: Last night I had the most awesome food at a restaurant! Roasted brussel sprouts. Used to hate brussel sprouts (too cabbagy). But when they are roasted the outsides are crisp and brown, the insides creamy and some natural sugar must be created in the process because they are mildly sweet. OMG! I am sooooo making these! Have you had them before? The restaurant served them with a mayo-based dipping sauce. AWESOME! Here's a recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/i...pe2/index.html

TOM finally started today. Only 45 days since last one...sheesh! I'm not gonna weigh in until TOM's on its way out. Feeling a bit bloated.

CMWarnick, Hi, I read a few days ago you love FFF days for correction. I know, super awesome. Who knew you could lose weight eating that stuff?! Anyway, if your market doesn't have full fat greek yogurt you can always use HWC to make whatever they've got full fat. I don't remember the exact measurements, but for 0% it's like 12 TBS HWC for a large tub (but don't quote me on that ). However, I do know where you can ask. The P3 for Big Eaters thread (under phase 3) ladies do that a lot and know it by heart. They'd be happy to tell you how to convert 0% or 2%.

  11. #203
Thank you, Kessa! I was looking around for the measurements and actually found the recipe to make your own, which looks surprisingly simple. I do believe I will try that sometime this week.

I love Brussels sprouts in butter, but have never had them roasted. I love roasted veggies, though (radishes and peppers are my favorite, mmm), so this is on my to-do food list!

Still waiting on TOM, lost track of how late it is. Very. Well cutting out the almond flour/flax seems to be working. I got on the scale this morning and am still 125, which is where I have been for a week now. The ounces have bounced around a little, but nothing significant. I should have known I would settle about five pounds over LDW, seems I always do. Gah. I'm hoping it will go down a bit if I keep things clean. I stopped at the market on my way home from work yesterday and they *finally* had my yogurt in, so I grabbed two tubs. Having a yogurt day today, which makes me happy

Went to the movies with some friends last night and the smell of movie theater popcorn wasn't even tempting. One of the girls had a humongous bucket (I swear it was like gallon sized) right beside me and she ate the entire thing. Still wasn't tempted. The snacks I attempted to make to take along were failures so I didn't have anything with me, but I did have my water bottle stashed in my purse, so I was good. I was too engrossed in the movie to care much about food, anyway.

Tons of chores to catch up on today and my daughter's cheer banquet is tonight-busy busy! Hope everyone has a great day!

Well, another rocky weekend. I was so happy on Saturday morning. I was at 155, down 1.4 lbs almost from Friday. I had a lovely day, bacon, hamburger and steak dinner. Then I get up on Sunday late and I am back up the full amount. So I suspected the bacon. So yesterday I opted for my traditional FFF day. I had 21 oz of FFF and some strawberries and toasted coconut alternated. Result today is down only .4, but highly annoyed still. I had a lovely steak and egg breakfast and went back to bed! I will have some egg salad with only mustard and dill for lunch I guess and another steak dinner. Sounds like a rough life I am sure, but it isn't exactly exciting. If I was doing real P3, I would have finished today. But as I am not stable, I don't dare till Thanksgiving as planned and I am already dreading the impact that cheat is going to have.

I was looking for a egg and spinach recipe and they all call for cheese. I have finally gotten the full menu lined for the our Thanksgiving, and just need to wrap up the shopping. Don't plan to do any other shopping all week.

Course I am sick I think and nothing even tastes decent today. Tons of drainage. Gross. Oh-well, off to keep cleaning. Hardly can get in the mood though.
