36 days on P3 and scared to move onto P4

This is my second P3 round and my LIW was 120.4. I am currently on day 36 and have been scared to move onto P4.

I feel like I have had a difficult time stabilizing closer to my LIW, as my weight has gone up to 123.8 a few times. I have done two steak days during this time and lose about 1.5 pounds each time.

I am eating the same as my first P3 round, where I stabilized below or at LIW. With that comparison in mind, I feel like since I can't easily stay within two pounds of my LIW, I am rather nervous to move onto P4.

    1. Should I adjust my goal weight to have a little more flexibility?
    2. What P4 foods should I try first? And should I try one food, wait two days before I try another one?
    3. I do find that the handful of times I exercised, it seems to help my weight, unlike when I tried to exercise in P2. And also, avoiding eating or drinking after7 PM. Would this be helpful as I transition to P4?

    Thank you for your feedback.

It sounds like you have stabilized well, just that this time it may be a bit above your LIW. That is not unusual to have to raise your LIW a couple of pounds. Especially if you are at goal, it will make it a lot easier to stay there.

P4 is about discovering how much starch and sugar you can add back in and still maintain. So you are testing not only individual foods, but amounts. I think winter squashes and sweet potatos are good starting tests. The safest way is to start with a very small amount, and increase for two more days until you get to your normal portion, and see how you do before moving on to the next test. So for a sweet potato, for instance, you might start with a quarter cup, then to half cup, and then to half a sweet potato.

If you find you are particularly starch sensitive, that can be fixed by following the Fast Metabolism plan. It really works to eliminate that problem.

There is no reason to avoid exercise in P4.

Whether eating or drinking after 7 affects maintenance is highly individual. You'll have to see if it affects you or not.

i agree with Leez that u r stabilizing well. i tend to stick to my modified P3 adding moderate starches and sugars only for special occasions. i dont do much dairy and not cheese every day as when u r adding starches u shoukd decrease some of the fats u added in. i usually start with small portion of sweet potato. if i eat bread i eat it in the morning and skip the fats or only eat half slice toast with. utter. try it a few times. you can always scale back.
