    Book recomendations

I'm reading Robin's book Weightloss Apocolypse currently but any other books on inuitive eating that you like or rec.? Would love some more good winter reads on anything realted to the subject of healthy weight emotionally connected also. I had a history of emotional eating from high school got over it to some degree but it sometimes pops up.

Go to VirtaHealth.com and read the results of their 2 year clinical study:

    https://www.virtahealth.com/blog/2yr...tional-ketosis

There were 4 kids in my family, and we competed for food. On my own, I did better: but with menopause my weight started creeping up, my knees went bad, and my eating became worse.

The hcg diet showed me that that cutting out starches and sweets was possible and effective for me. I banished grains, starches, sugars, flours, and high-sugar fruits.

I have kept 50 lbs off for over 5 years. My A1c is back to normal and I love my way of eating.

    What changed my attitude was
    (1) an uncaring doctor who thought I needed thyroid meds instead of diagnosing the onset of type 2 diabetes
    (2) VirtaHealth's groundbreaking clinical study that showed T2D can be reversed with a ketogenic diet. I had tried to get into Dr Hallberg's study (may she RIP) when I lived in Lafayette, IN but it was full - plenty of obese subjects! But reading the published study results encouraged me to stay the course.

I consider keto to be a diet of eating "the good stuff" and avoiding the rest.

That is amazing!! I am so glad you've been able to make these changes! I agree with you! No sugar diet is the way to go an I don't do grains or much starch either. I've had to be that way for a while. I feel much better that way!

Two books that helped me sort out the thinking part of how I viewed food and weight loss.

    Natually Thin, Jean Antonello
Intuitive Eating, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch

I followed the plan in the first one for a couple of years. It works for many, but didn't work for me for weight loss, I think because I had unaddressed thyroid issues. It did work in the sense that the initial weight you gain did start to come off on its own after a time. Though I did lose most of that initial gain, I never got in to negative territory. But the psychology is sound and it really helped me lose my fear of food and change my thinking about what healthy eating looks like.

Caveat.....Antonello doesn't agree that the cause of overweight is emotional eating. She believes it is hunger (from dieting all the time). It will stretch your thoughts and beliefs about food and you may find you have bought into some lies from the so-called experts along the way.
