Doctor instructed me phase 3 no fats!!

Hi there, my first post and doing my first round (hopefully last!) round of HCG diet to loose baby #2 weight.
Some confusion reigns for me though about phase 3. I've followed this forum and lots of the posts during my phase 2 (lost nearly 20lbs), and am now in the first week of phase 3. My functional medicine doc who is pretty solid in his guidance on this diet and other health aspects is very very clear that ALL fats should still be avoided in phase 3! He says it's because he's following the original protocol. I'm finding this really hard physically and mentally, and all the info, including the very informative posts from the admin on here make sense to me - the body should be use to fats from the body's breakdown of them in phase 2 and I don't see why the calories we strive so hard to make up to (he's recommended 2200) shouldn't be made up of healthy fats! I've even been told to avoid egg yolks and to continue to not spray pan with olive oil when cooking or grilling.
Hmm all seems counterintuitive to me, but this guy seems to know his stuff and is adamant.
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this and - what could his reasoning be?

You can read Pounds and Inches for yourself, on this site. I'm going by memory since I read it several years ago: I don't believe the original protocol prohibits fats during P3, but it does recommend avoiding sugars and starches.

After my first round, I transitioned to a ketogenic diet and continued losing.

I wouldn't listen to the dr. Have you read any of HCG Chica's articles and youtube videos on p3? They are great. I've stabilized really well on several past rounds on keto type fats and proteins with veggies! Full eggs, beef, coconut oil all the good stuff! Enjoy! Just give yourself a day and see how you do with fat and protien! I wouldn't go wild on calories but just eat to fullness!

Your doctor is misinformed. He is not following the original protocol by advising to avoid fats in P3. Fats are the most important thing you can eat in P3 to stabilize and maintain your losses.

This is the only food instruction given in the original protocol:

On these forums, we have found that in order to be successful in P3, you must include healthy fats and must not restrict them. I don't know what original protocol your doctor is reading, but its not Dr. Simeon's. Also the prohibition against sugar does not include fruits. You can eat any any fruit. Its wise to keep portions small on fruit like bananas which have higher glycemic indexes than other fruits, but you can still eat them in P3. Because of the starch guidance, you would also limit any use of starchy (root) vegetables and grains, but all other whole foods are fair game.

Just echoing Leez. I'm finding as I add in coconut oil like cocoa crack I maintain better in p3 and satisfies my hunger and makes me feel better too.
