Thanks for all of the posts above, Leez and sdwis--I continue to learn from you ladies. Leez, I saw a woman at work (few years ago) who really lost inches over the course of months, drinking lemon water all day. She acted like that was all she changed, which I don't know if true, but the lemon water seemed to do something. I wish I liked flavoring my water, but I prefer it plain. And I've used tumeric before for knee pain and it truly is effective for inflammation. Good luck rk!

A note for clarity: the lemon has to be fresh. Fresh lemon is alkaline, but cooked or processed lemon juice is acid, and won't give the benefits you are looking for.

And it really doesn't take much, just a squeeze. Also, its a good idea to always squeeze some lemon into restaurant tap water or iced tea. It neutralizes the chlorine/chloramine.

According to my functional doctor, the meriva preparation of turmeric/curcumen is the most bio-available.

Thanks for clarification, Leez. I used the liquid tumeric purchased at Costco. And Leez, someone mentioned that P3 is always 3 weeks, is that right? I have basically just stayed in p3 through my off times this year from P2, had 2 full rounds. So if I wanted to transition at some time to P4, is it after 3 weeks, or longer since I've had the full 2 rounds? Thanks.

P3 is always 3 weeks, no matter what round you are on.

If you choose to continue with P3 eating after 3 weeks, you are technically in P4, just eating like P3. But the hormonal work is apparently done after 21 days, as there is no instruction on extending it.

Its a good question, because there is a lot of advice out there to stay in P3 until you think you have stabilized, but that is someone's opinion on it, and is not found in the protocol. I think some people do extend it out of fear, or an abundance of caution, but an extended P3 is not part of the protocol.

So good to know, Leez--somehow I have missed that all these years. P3 is healthy way to live, but I would like to test the waters on occassionally adding carbs. We'll see when that time comes! Thanks again.

P3 is mostly a good, healthy way to live unless you continue to eliminate starchy vegetables. You really need those for thyroid and adrenal health, so its not good to eliminate them long-term, particularly for women. The orange vegetables like winter squash and sweet potatoes are especially important.

Adding carbs in P4 is about finding the serving size you can tolerate. You want to know how much you can have without pushing your weight up. I think sometimes people get confused and think they are testing carb sensitivity instead. There is always the possibility that you can react to the item, but that is not the focus of P4 testing.

Rooting for you to have a smooth experience finding your way when you get to P4.

Thank you for all this interesting information Leez and Sdwis. The scale has not budged, I am still up 2.3 pounds, so .3 over my window, so it is a correction day for me...

Sdwis, not sure if I can fast all day. I do use Epsom salt baths. If you see this when you say liquids I assume you are talking tea and coffee and herbal tea, no broth right? It's 8 am here and I am debating between a chicken thigh day or a traditional steak day--or seeing if I can go all day and just do liquids. I am already hungry darn it... I will really pound the lemon water. Leez- thank you I have fresh lemons on the tree so easy to do. Also I am using the tumeric and the ginger and added more fish and olive oil.

I will report back. Fingers crossed.
    Have a great day

Thanks Leez, I appreciate that. And I really do want to focus on adding healthy starches, Slowly and focusing on portion control. You know, portion control is what most of us in the USA need to address. Restaurants give portions that could feed 2 or 3 people sometimes. No wonder as a poplulation we have weight issues. Supersized everything.

Agree. Its pretty amazing to find you can be satisfied with a small fraction of the portions we've come to see as normal. revolutionary, really.

I can eat a big 12-16 oz. steak on a steak day, though I have to work at it a bit. But for a normal meal, I'm usually completely satisfied with a protein portion that is sized at 3-4 oz.

Good Morning Leez, sdwis, and Dubbles,

Good News! I had a successful steak day. I really think the "drinking lots of (lightly squished) lemon water,I made a tea with tumeric, ginger, parsley, rosemary and a squish of lemon and drank that. Today I am down 1.5, so back in my window. Not stellar, but I think the inflammation is still there but calmed down a bit. My back is also 40% better, I did not have the same amount of back pain by noon so I stopped taking the anti-inflammatories yesterday. sdwis, I think the not eating during the day and hitting the liquids really did help with the inflammation, so thank you for that.

Today I will eat very clean, inflammation smoothie. It's P3 Day 12. Sometimes I can continue to drop weight the next day, so here's hoping that works.

Take care and have a lovely day.
    Thank you again!

Glad to hear your inflammation is coming down. Considering that, you did get a good result from your steak day. May the trend continue.
