Thread: Gained 4.6 overnight from Turkey - WTF!!!

    Angry Gained 4.6 overnight from Turkey - WTF!!!

    A friend of mine has been in P3 for almost two weeks now. She told me on Thanksgiving she prepared the food herself and ate quite a bit of turkey(two drumsticks, a wing, and the giblets), but only had sautéed vegetables (celery and Onions sautéed in butter), diet cranberry ginger ale - almost the whole bottle, 1/2 c. roasted pecans, and a pumpkin latte. So in essence, no sugar or no starch. On Thanksgiving day she was only .4 above LDW, the next day she was 4.6 lb. above LDW.

    She did a correction and came back down 3.4 lb.


    Do you think it was the ginger ale, or also the pecans - as it was her first time having nuts as well?

    Hard to say. It could even been the turkey if it was something new.

    Or the nuts. 1/2 C nuts is a big amount for a first time test.

    I would suspect either of those before the ginger ale.

    I'm fine with chicken, but react to turkey. For a time, I reacted to celery. Just to say, it could be anything.

    Turkey could have been injected with saline?Some diet stuff can do tricks too.

    Pumpkin Spice Latte was her own homemade creation that she says she has had other mornings since starting P3. It was just pumpkin spice coffee, hwc, and pumpkin spice stevia drops.

    I'm agreeing with Leez that it must have been the turkey itself. She says it was turkey parts she bought from Whole Foods. Also says she's never gained more than 2 lbs. from nuts either. As of today she's still down to only 1 lb. above LDW.

    Sounds like it might even have been a double whammy (turkey and nuts) if she has reacted to nuts before.

    I was about to eat some turkey my neighbor brought and this scared me enough not to!
    Hope that pound comes off quickly!

    In SA I do check products that's prepared for Christmas and special Occasions.... as we do turkey at Christmas They sell what is referred to as "self basting" i would not trust eating that as I do not know what they add, very likely sugar.... she was probably caught by something like that

    I bought a pre-brined turkey and it did have sugar in the brine. Would that be enough to cause all this, though? I am starting to wonder if turkey is an issue for me as well as my weight continues to creep up. Who knew?
