Do pay close attention to your satisfaction signals. That is the key to eating on P3.

If you can't get enough calories in with normal choices, that is where you can use the fats more liberally. Because the calories are more concentrated, the volume is lower. Which means you can eat more calories without getting too full.

It is a bit of a juggling challenge at the beginning, but it is important not to stuff yourself or even feel full. You want to stop at that satisfaction point. Does that make sense?

That's great! Sounds like you are doing well!
Thou mentioned being in a hotel, are you traveling for work?

I was down 2.1# this morn which was a surprise! I ate lots more and am feeling really good.

    Keep up the good work!

That makes perfect sense. I'll pay attention to that from now on.
Due to several factors I don't often feel hunger or fullness unless it's extreme. But as I learn & heal I bet these signals will be more clear.

It does take some work and time to tune into those signals. But P3 is the perfect opportunity to do that. The reason is that P2 is an elimination-type diet. You have detoxed from sugar and from a lot of additives that tend to promote cravings and mask your hunger and fullness signals. You have a clean slate, if you will, going into P3 in being free of those influences. So it should make it easier to learn your real signals without all the interferences caused by sugar and other inflammatories.

Really getting a handle on this concept is a big factor in the maintenance plan you will be developing that will keep you near your goal weight.

You might find this short blog post addressing hunger signals helpful: https://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforum...nals-p3-21845/

That was VERYA helpful! Between thyroid disorders, eating disorders, motherhood, and just life, my body signals have been all askew. On all sides of the spectrum.
In a coaching group im in it's teaching all sorts of nutrition info that I know love the back of my hand. Macros & food choices, nutrition & timing and everything in between. But the two things that I've learned, the things that finally "clicked" are:
    1. Hunger is not an emergency (this one is big for me. Hangry defines me big time. I don't get stomach hungry. I get whole body weak, miserable hungry!) Being anorexic when I was younger I could control it incredibly. But hunger triggers me now & I panic.
So i'm now learning, some 20yrs later...its ok. Im not starving myself anymore, and I don't need to eat ALLLL the food anymore.
    2. Stop when 80% full.
(This one is still a challenge. I'm not sure when that is yet. But im determined to figure it out)

I appreciate your support though this, I actually feel as though this round will be very successful!

Ah I see. That's cool! What is your medium?

P3 is so scary for me.

My daughter is a competitive gymnast and this is season right now. We've traveled a TON for her meets so I scheduled p2 during a 4 wk break between her last meet & states. States is next Sunday and im sure I'll be more confident w p3 at that point.

I stayed at 130.7 this morning which is 2.1 below ldw. So im not fearing the quantity as much.
I made this berry compote with @ 2 c frozen berries and a little bit of gelatin & stevia, and a sprinkle of almond flour for texture, to have with my mud tea this morn. I'm pretty full so know i need to eat a little less next time.

You are doing great, Splunkey. It is always a relief to be under LIW in the first week of P3. There is always that fear of quick regain to overcome each P3 you do. I have it every round, even though I've never had a completely unsuccessful P3. Just a note: Most people don't get to keep any extra losses that happen after LIW, but a rare few do. I've never been one of them, sadly. I hope you are!

    2. Stop when 80% full.
(This one is still a challenge. I'm not sure when that is yet. But im determined to figure it out)
I would interpret that 80% advice as paying attention to your satisfaction signal. Its that point where you've eaten enough. And after a while of practicing this awareness, you will notice that the next bite you take after that is different, and you would have been fine without it. Don't be discouraged that you don't quite get this right away. It takes a while of consistent fueling to get and recognize these signals. That's why its really important in P3 to eat when you are hungry, even if it seems too often. Getting too hungry in P3 will make it more difficult to stabilize. Being ravenous usually means you will eat too fast, and there won't be enough time for your brain to get those satisfaction signals to you before you overeat. Just remember that an empty feeling is not hunger, and is a good thing, especially in the evenings when you really don't need more fuel since the days activities are done.

@rose: I've always found P3 to be easy while traveling too. Good luck with your shows.

It's that point where you want to go for seconds but don't! Once you start stopping there and recognize how it feels, you will be able to recognize it on your plate as well if you happen to put too much on it. The other big thing for me was no snacking. I eat 3 meals a day and don't snack. I am a P3-er though, meaning that is where I stay after a round. The lower carb helps me control my blood sugar.

Oh another tip: When I get too hungry and still need to cook, I have a handful of almonds, some seaweed, etc. to bridge that time. It helps me with not devouring everything when I sit down to eat and with the signaling Leez mentions.
