Need P3 help, gaining, not cheating.

First few days were good, I lost 200g, but now day 8 I'm up 800g, borderline for a correction day, which is not an option as we are in the car on a road trip.

I'm eating 1100-1400 cals, struggling to eat more. Have add in cheese, was fine, milk in coffee, was fine, some olive oil for cooking. Still having chicken & veg for lunch and dinner. No dressings, no bought sauces or any other junk. No sugar, grains, etc.

No exercise yet, although was on my feet all day Thursday. I'm not cheating, so really distraught to be putting on weight.

The only other thing I can admit to is not enough water these past 2 days, only 6 or 7 glasses.

    Any thoughts, advice?

Hi. I'm not a moderator, but am 3 weeks into p3. The advice I got before starting was to increase proteins and much good fats (kerrygold/grass fed cow butter, MCT/coconut oil, avocado). If your body is not sensitive to the coconut oil (some are), you can fry your eggs in it (if not sensitive to eggs!) or use grass fed butter. There is a really good guide on the forum for p3 to follow for foods, how to increase calories and what/when to add them. Fats and proteins are your friends, as are calories--low calories at this point will make one gain. If you are not sensitive to dairy, try full fat Greek yogurt. The brand that is talked about here on the forum is Fage ( I use mass amounts of it with strawberries, blueberries, or small amount of cherries)--the more I eat of it (since I am not sensitive) the better I do. Look up BP coffee and give that a try. I know the first thought is to restrict calories--don't!! Increase your proteins and veggies--work up your calories by adding butter or coconut oil. Good luck!

I'd cut out the dairy for now and see what happens. When you get a slow increase like that, it's often dairy.

It could be a little water retention from being on your feet all day and not drinking enough. But more likely it is a result of being too cautious. Fat and calories are your friends in P3. You're cooking that chicken and veg in butter or some other good fat, right? Eat some fattier meats other than chicken. Branch out...you can eat in P3...it's a whole other phase than P2 so don't try to remain in P2.

Thanks Grammy, I guess I was hoping it wasn't dairy. I am eating other meats, and certainly the roast chickens I've fed us this week as lazy dinners are v fatty. I need to do a steak day but I absolutely cannot do it today.

Your calories are pretty low too. I'd up your fats and cut out the dairy for now just to see.

Hi Grammy, just bumping this thread up because I think I might be sensitive to dairy, I have cut out all but a tiny amount of HWC and unsalted organic butter, but I am also concerned I might be sensitive to coconut oil, so I was going to cut out the HWC, butter and coconut oil to see if it helped, but am planning tomorrows meals and can't see how I can possibly get enough fat without them. I am going to have a whole avocado and some fatty steak but my calorie count is way below even 1000 calories! I feel like there's nothing safe left to eat! I haven't cleared eggs yet either! help!

I think you're not eating enough, melissa. Try the 28 Fast Metabolism Diet to see if you can fix things.
