Thread: Phase 3 cheat meals

    Phase 3 cheat meals

Hello! Help would be greatly appreciated!
I am just about to start P3. But am nervous because there are 3 important dinners that I wouldn't be able to not cheat. For example Christmas! My question is: when you know you are going to have a big cheat meal is it better to eat regularly during the day with P3 or not eat or eat minimally leading up to the big cheat meal? What will help lessen the effects of the cheat meal? And of course I will do the steak day after. Any other advice?
    Thank you!

Don't cheat. It's not worth jeopardizing the reset you get when you follow P3 the whole 21 days. Remember, you do want to be able to maintain your loses once you've finished the program. A correctly done P3 is super critical to that process. You can cheat on regular diets and recover somewhat, but HCG is very different.

P3 is very easy to do even on holidays and special occasions. You just have to decide that your success is worth figuring out some substitution for the things that you usually enjoy at holiday dinners.

    For instance:
mashed potatos: cauliflower mash - make it cheesy
cakes & cookies: make some with fiber flours and xylitol
candy: make cocoa crack and add whatever nuts and flavors you like
adult beverages: fizzy water with flavorings or a lime wedge if you like to be sipping all night, or have one glass of red wine

A little pre-planning is a lot better than trying to fix a big blow-out cheat fest, the way I look at it. And the reality is that it takes a lot of determination to follow through on a cleanup plan, and most people don't really manage it very well, especially during the holidays. It's no fun punishing yourself when everyone else is having a good time.

Personally, that's where I have failed in the past. I let myself indulge, and then I couldn't follow through on my plans to fix it afterwards...especiallly because even if I tried for a while, I'd just keep gaining anyway and ended up feeling helpless and hopeless.

OK, so there' your pep talk. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for your response. And I knew some of the responses would be not to cheat. But I know I won't be able to keep from cheating on Xmas. I know it's better not to cheat and believe me I wish it wasn't the holidays. I have read that a cheat day won't mess up everything if you do a steak day after. And I'm not planning on cheating all the time. So my question isn't whether to cheat or not, it is how to minimize the effects of a cheat.
I don't know whether to not eat at all leading up to a cheat meal or eat normal P3 fare during the day. If you or anyone could help me with an answer to that question it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

My advice would be to eat normal P3 for the other meals that day so that you are not ravenous when you get to the actual meal. You'll have more control that way and it will be easier not to overeat. Cheating on one meal is less of a problem than cheating all day. So about the best you can do to minimize the damage is make a plan to only cheat at that one meal. And avoid alcohol, because that will lower your defenses and resolve which could open the door for an all out pig-fest.

I don't really know of any way to make a steak day work better than it does when you do it as outlined. Which is basically drink enough water and eat your big steak and apple sometime in the late afternoon. I do know that for me, the steak days work best when my steak is super fatty, so if its not, I add butter to it or have cocoa crack afterwards to up the fat. But hey, maybe you won't need one. It could happen that one indulgence won't take you out of your window.

Cocoa crack is candy made from cocoa and coconut oil

Here's my single batch recipe: I do it this way for portion control

    2 T coconut oil (liquid)
    2 T. cocoa powder
1 scoop xylitol (or whatever sweetener you are using in P3 to taste) I powder mine in a coffee grinder so its not gritty in the candy.
pinch of pink or sea salt
    vanilla

Mix until smooth, then pour onto a paper plate and set in refrigerator or freezer until candy hardens and you can "crack" it up into sections. My usual "mold" for this amount is a 6 inch styrofoam plate. The paper ones work just as well and the candy will pop off the plate just fine after chilling.

If you have vanilla creme stevia, you can try that for the flavoring, but I think stevia is bitter, so I like to use xylitol and Vanilla Custard Cappella drops instead. But plain vanilla works fine too. Once you make it, you'll think of all kinds of variations and things you can add to personalize it to your favorite flavors.

I use about 4-5 drops of the Capella Vanilla Custard. Its amazing how it richens the flavor of the candy.

If you are using vanilla extract, about a half teaspoon is good.

I have a few small 2oz bottles of other flavoring like Maple and French Vanilla from The Flavor Apprentice. I hope I can use those.

    Thank you!!

The French Vanilla sounds like it would work great.

It's probably around a heaping teaspoon, but I use a mix of xylitol & pure stevia extract powder (1 C. - 1/2 tsp. ratio) which would be sweeter than just the xylitol alone. So it really depends on what you choose to use and how sweet that tastes to you. Different sweeteners have different levels of sweetness, and of course we all have our individual opinions of what is sweet enough. I tend to like things just barely sweetened.
