Yes salt can cause an increase. I'd start adding back in fruits and veggies and try to stabilize here. Too many correction days can damage your metabolism.

Ugh. I don't need to damage my metabolism. When is someone stabilized? After holding their weight at the same point for a week? 2 weeks?

You weight will NEVER stay the same. You're stable if you stay within that 2 pound swing.

I tried cutting out dairy and gained the next day. I had lots of dairy and lost a half pound. But now I'm back to the same issue. I should have done a steak day yesterday and woke up ready to eat a horse. So I ate carefully and was up today. Arrrgh. Now I'm several pounds above and don't know how to get back down. I'm going to do a steak day again today. But....I'm on day 18 of P3.

Grammy! I am on p3 and the first thing I ate when off the 72 hours was a few tqblespoons of plain yogurt, peanut butter.. At midnight lol.. Day one was a flaxseed pizza with mozerella, Parmesan and feta cheese but about 100g cheer in total not much, and an egg on top followed by 100g plain yogurt and some berries and a couple of cappuccinos.. That night I as bloated like I was 6 months pregnant and next day gained to 2.5 which had been growing over th 72 hours. The next day I did a correction day of eggs in morning and tried to have two steaks but didn't have time so just had one large one.. A tincy but of Swiss cheese(pretty sure cheese isn't my friend ). Today down a tiny bit but essentially 2 up! Have no appetite at all. Today I ate an apple, flaxseed berry pancakes made with two eggs and some yogurt not feeling bloated so must be cheese. What do I do from here? Staying off cheese for sure and will eat low starch veg and low on nuts. I saw a p3 list foods we should and shouldn't eat but this isn't in p and I so are these just tried and tested? No legumes, no butternut squash, etc

You jumped in WAY too fast! And all that dairy. Plus peanut butter isn't allowed in P3. It's a legume not a nut. Cut out all the diary. Also you didn't do the correction day right. You don't eat eggs on a steak day nor cheese.

thanks for your reply! it wasnt much cheese on the pizza, about 100g and i ate about a quarter.. but i guess i introduced milk, yogurt, nuts, legumes.. aargghh!

i did a correction day with the eggs and cheese as i thought i hadnt had enough protein with the pizza the day before.. but i didnt do that right even, as your supposed to have a steak for lunch and dinner and i didnt have time for both.. the cheese was just a tiny tiny bit but im def not touching it anymore.

also where does it say allowed p3 foods in P$I? i found this list http://hcgcoach.com/Phases.shtml which is pretty much what my dietician gave me when i first did hcg without knowing i was doing hcg (yup).. but these foods are not listed in dr simeons book.. :$

so shall i try a proper steak day tomorrow if im up again?

Grammy, I really think this is me. Too many days of ultra low or zero carb days has not been good for my thyroid. I started on a low dose of NaturThroid but there really was no improvement on my last blood test. So I am on a larger dose. But I am keeping fruit in this P3. We read so much about ketogenic and high protein - I think we start to just crave the fatty protein and we forget the carbs. Sometimes I just don't take the time to make a healthy carb side dish. But I'm going to do better! My thyroid will thank me later. Oh, and having a stable P3 with no steak days so far. Fruit not hurting that at all.

I tried doing a ketogenic diet for a while, I had a permanent headache, and didn't lose any weight. I think you're right about the thyroid needing some carbs.

So what exactly are the carbs we can have in P3? I guess when I think of carbs I think of bready stuff and potatoes and corn. But those are all starches so that's a no. I definitely have a feeling I'm a carb person just from the fact that my body doesn't process meat and fat that well. I like it, but only in small amounts or I get overloaded quickly. My thyroid has been a bit off for a year or so because of some meds I was on. Same reason I gained weight. Finally got off the meds and stopped gaining but I think it screwed up my metabolism. Really hoping this reset works to undo that damage.

Hi Grammy, This is my 4th day on P3. The 1st day I lost almost a pound, day 2 I gained it back, day 3 up .2, day 4 looks like I'll be up about 1.5 tomorrow a.m. So, I'm getting really worried. I have felt no energy at all, and am basically eating protein, fats, a good amount of veggies and a little dairy (cream in my coffee), and a handful of nuts. The first couple of days I did have a little cottage cheese & nonfat plain yogurt, but I cut that out today to see if I'd lose, but I can see I have gained instead. I'm wondering if I'm eating too much in quantity or too much fat. I decided not to have fruit for the first week to see how I'd do, but I really miss it. I do not want to have to do a steak day at all if possible, and would appreciate your advice on where to go from here. Thank you!!!

There is no set limit of carbs. Fruit has carbs. All veggies have some carbs. Just watch your body.

Elorahd, you will need to balance the protein though. Even doing hcg isn't going to let you go back to eating lots of carbs and little meats and fats.
