    Recommendations for macros in P3?

Hi fam! Any recommendations on macros for P3? I like to track things and know what my minimums and limits are. I know that P3 is NOT keto, and I am really looking forward to keeping fruit in my diet (yay) after following keto strictly for so long! Any idea how many carbs we should limit to in P3? I know we are supposed to definitely up the fat and protein, but Iím unclear on how many carbs are ideal, and what is too much.

I know that we are not adding back starch or sugar, so I believe the only carbs we add back in are fruit, right? No beans, legumes, root vegetables, etc - until P4. Two fruits a day is a broad range as berries have way less fruit than other fruits. Iíd love any recommendations you have (Grammy, Leez)?

Correct...you keep fruit in P3, but avoid starches, which include most root vegetables, and added sugar.

You might see if the tips in this blog post about how to have a successful P3 make sense to you:

Although people try to combine all manner of programs with P3, it just tends to complicate things and can even mess you up if all the counting and strategizing keep you from following your hunger/satisfaction signals. You really don't need to count anything, unless its to see if you are eating enough.

Thanks Leez. Iíve read that, I was just unclear on how many carbs (or how many pieces of fruit) was okay. Iíve done P3 successfully before so I know I can do it again, I just couldnít remember the rules about fruit and carbs.

If you have any suggestions about fruit consumption, let me know! I love rules...so much easier to know youíre on track.

I DO have an important question though...so Iíll continue the 500 cal diet for two full days after my last injection day (72 hours after last shot), but then do I slowly build up calories or just shoot right up to a regular amount?

There have been a couple people that posted about developing a macros for P3, you might find something in a search. I remember trying it. It wasn't helpful for me, and actually made my stabilization more difficult because I ended up eating things I didn't really want or more than I wanted just to make the numbers work.

Most people are fine continuing 2 fruit servings a day as in P2, only with more variety. It can be individual. For instance, I do fine with up to 5 fruit servings a day in P3. Others find that they feel they do better just eating berries, or limiting fruit to 1 serving (about a cup or one apple would be a serving). There might be particular fruits that don't work for you. Some gain from eating fresh cherries. So there really aren't fruit rules...just the fruit guideline that all fruit is permitted, but watch serving sizes on the sweeter fruits like banana and mango. Some are afraid of pineapple, but its actually a good P3 fruit choice because of all the fiber.

You can start out with the 2 servings and see how you do. If you feel you are sensitive to the fruit sugars (like they cause cravings or you get an energy slump/blood sugar crash after eating them, try blunting the effect by eating with protein, or cut back your serving size.

Once you hit P3, you should increase your calories right away. Don't stuff yourself though. It may take a day or two for your capacity to increase since you have been eating such a low volume in P2. So you will ramp up naturally over that time. It's easier to get enough calories those first couple days if you include good fats, since the calories are more concentrated. Avocado is a good choice if you don't want to hit the animal fats and good oils too heavily right away.
