DJ, 5 lbs WOW So weird what our bodies do!

Badkitty, your numbers look fantastic. You have two pounds wiggle room for when traveling. Seems perfect to me

Katerina, did you take castor oil or something? LOL The barbecue spices I have contain sugar so I don't use them for myself Could yours too?
Cheese makes some gain though. Frustrating isn't it, trying to figure out what causes what. I am so tied up in this! Since you are eliminating, you could try cheese again today maybe. You'd still be under 2lbs over. Of course, we all hate going up, even when staying below...It's nerve wracking.

I am so sorry about your gain, Lisa. Did you eat anything new? Did you drink enough water? Did you eat enough calories? It could be TOM I guess, all water. Good luck today!

Well, I went down .8 this morning, no elimination yet since Sat. though so that can't be the reason. Maybe eggs do make me go up a bit but if I go down when I don't eat them and end up staying the same basically, I am fine with that LOL We shall see. .2 over LDW so pretty happly. I wouldn't mind stabilizing at 214 for this round.

    Have a great day everyone!!

I am on P3/LR d12, eating primal (per the book "Primal Body, Primal Mind" by Nora Gedgaudas). I am down .5 lb this morning (.5 below LIW). In 11 days of P3 I have averaged 3,293 calories per day. I bought some ketostiks yesterday to monitor if and when I am in ketosis. It is my goal to stay well into ketosis because it is my understanding that ketones are the preferred fuel for the body, and I definitely want to be functioning optimally. Ketones are also a sign that the body is effectively burning fat, which my body certainly needs to learn how to do, and weight loss is best when the body is in ketosis. So this is my new focus and goal, along with becoming leptin sensitive.

Good morning. I just got 3 dental fillings and just had my first meal today. I was .5 lbs down this morning. Yippee! So I am just a pound up from my LIW. Seems like things have been wacky on here, with all the gains. Today makes the start of Week 2 on P3 for me. I will be glad to be done with this. Yesterday was an experiment. I ate the same things as the day before, where my weight stayed the same thing, but no walking an hour yesterday. I lost weight. I guess exercise is not that big a deal in this phase, but I will still walk. Today I added back in eggs, and will stick with the 1350 cals to see if eggs are ok.

I love Nora! She is a fellow Portlander so I am proud of her hahaha. ETA: Ohhh you are in Portland too!!!! We should meet up!!!!

The amount of calories you can devour is astounding and just goes to show that it has nothing to do with gaining weight. It is so wonderful to be able to say to people that some people eat above 3000 cal, but without any sugars and carbs and never gain. The cal in - cal out is such a fad. Now that I am having a clearer picture of what I need to eat to not gain and the protein/fat ratio, I can let go of the amount of calories I am ingesting. Question for you: what is your protein fat ratio? Mine seems to be 20-25/70-75%

Keep us posted! Love your updates!

We should have a real life support group I am on here way too much and my husband is having his own problems right now and doesn't really get how frustrating things can be, or how exciting, though of course he is supportive the best he can.

    Hi All!

Bad Kitty invited me to this thread. I officially start my first day of P3 eating today. I didn't do as well on P2 as I'd hoped but decided to stop for various reasons after 23 days and stabilize then go for it again in 6 weeks. I did lose a solid 10.4 lbs so I need to be happy with that! I have to wonder if having a really bad case of pneumonia for 2 months a couple months ago and going on steroids combined with my perimenopause somehow interfered....cuz I was really good on protocol. Anyhoo, I'm going to be happy with my losses and keep moving forward!

I bought a lot of P3 fun foods last night. I made a stevia cheesecake this morning as an experiment! It's cooling right now...I sort of adapted some recipes I saw online and came up with this one so will put the recipe over here. Will let you know tonite how it tastes after it cools all day!

Happy maintenance everyone and be looking forward to sharing ideas/tips/victories/all feelings with you all.

Here is my little 7 inch cheesecake recipe I created this morning:

I made a stevia cheesecake this morning! This is what I did in a very small pan--7 in diameter.

First I made a crust of 2T melted coconut oil and about a cup of almond meal--pressed it in the bottom of the springform pan

    One 8oz regular cream cheese
    1/2 t. powdered stevia
1/2 c. full fat greek yogurt
(whipped all of those fluffy then added...)

    1 egg
    1 egg white
    1/2 t. cornstarch
    lemon zest
    1/2 t. almond flavoring
    few drops vanilla liquid Stevia

Whipped that all up fluffy then poured in the crust.

Baked in a water bath for 50 min and then let it sit in the oven with the door open while cooling.

Will put in the frig and let it cool all day then let you know how it tastes! The batter tasted tangy and sweet and lemony.

That looks delicious! I am not sure could have all those new ingredients on day one but I may try this at a later time. Corn starch is a starch though. What could I replace it with that is not a starch? Maybe an egg?

Mrs., so you are in Portland too?! I cannot tell from your screen name and info. Yes, I live in SE Portland, 4 blocks from Laurelhurst Park. I'd be happy to meet up with you and OmMama. Shall we?
Regarding my ratio of macro-nutrients: I seem to be averaging about 80% fat, 15% protein and 5% carbs. It would take a little more math than I feel like doing at the moment to tell you the ratio of protein to fat, but you can do the math. I feel pretty good about that ratio. I heard Nora say, on a podcast I listened to yesterday, that she eats 75% fat. I figure I am pretty close to that, so I feel fine about it for now. I'll probably end up reducing the total amount that I eat a bit over time, and the reduction will likely be all fat, so that should get me down to the 75% that Nora is eating. I am actually making a point of eating EVERY BIT of what I feel like eating right now and keeping my calories really high so that I will stabilize with my body accustomed to maintaining weight at the highest possible calorie figure (without stuffing myself).
Today I just purchased a ticket to Nora Gedgaudas' full day class at The New Renaissance Bookshop on May 19th. It is titled: Nutrition and Mental Health: Cultivating an Ageless Mind. I am really interested in optimizing the health of my brain and my mind, following primal principals.

Wow...didn't even think about that re: the cornstarch. I really used just a pinch as I saw in on the other recipe and it is probably used as a binder. I'm sure you could do fine without it at all..maybe another egg white? I may wait a couple of days to try it but I was dying to bake something and give myself a "Chopped Challenge". lol
