Thread: Steak Day vs Correction Days

  1. #25
Grammy, I have been reading this forum a while, and have found it very helpful.
I'm doing a steak day today, and wonder just how large a massive piece of steak should weigh?
I know this would have been asked many times, but I'm unsure!

I usually eat a steak of about 12 oz. There is no set weight though. Good luck!

I gained over 2 lbs. and my doctor suggested that I do an apple day instead of a steak day to get rid of water retention. Steak has lots of sodium so doing an apple day will give better results. So I did apple day and I had lost what I had gained the next day!

Does it matter what cut of steak you use for a steak day? Does it need to be lean or can it be a ribeye? Also, seasoning/flavor - can you put some butter on it for flavor?

any cut of steak you like , although the fattier the better, any type of seasoning is fine as long as it doesn't have starch or sugars in it. Whenever I do a steak day I drench it in butter lol, and I have eaten up to a 1lb (by that time I can barely move lol) Generally lose at least 2lbs.

Colleen, what are your thoughts on combining a steak day with a leptin reset schedule? Rather than waiting all day to eat despite hunger, having the one steak-based meal early in the day?

Personally, I know that, when I eat more food earlier in the day, my body likes it better. If I eat a good amount of fat and protein before noon, I can go a long time without wanting any food at all, possibly even the whole day. However, if I postpone hunger, even if it is endurable, not only do I have a hard time satiating that hunger, my body unleashes a hoarding reaction. I think that is why I have never had good success with steak days. I'm hungry all day, lose little and rebound quickly. But, if I eat a large breakfast of fatty protein, I am satiated all day and my weight is either stable or goes down, depending on what I'm after.

This also happens during P2 for me. If I go hungry, trying to save my food so that I don't run out by the end of the day, I end up too hungry, the P2 portions don't touch my hunger, and I have poor losses. However, if I allow myself to eat earlier, I am much more contented and I have better losses, even if I end up eating extra protein at the end of the day.

That's what gave me the thought of shifting the schedule for a steak day, from dinner to brunch.

Thanks, bebifal! So happy it doesn't have to be a lean cut of meat as I am still sick of them from phase 2!

Hello, I'm on day 8 of p3 and my first few days went really well. I added in Greek yogurt, nuts and some cheese. We had to go out of town for three days and we ate out twice. Both times I had salad with chicken or salad with salmon. I had my scale with me and the first morning was up 2.2 lbs., the second 1.2 lbs and the third 1.6 for a total of 5 lbs. I know a steak day should be done immediately but we just got home. Will the weight come off even though it's been 3 days? Any other help would be greatly appreciated!

You should do a steak day immediately. The problem might have been the salad dressings. Most of them are loaded with sugar and soybean oil. Some of the gain might be water weight from travel, but it's important to jerk your body back down right away.

Yes you can do a steak day now. My guess is it was hidden sodium in the meats that caused the jump and it will come back off easily if it is. Traveling will also cause inflammation for many people. Drink plenty of water too.

Wondering how Marly did on the SD...

I did an egg day on Monday (8-12 eggs) and lost 1.4 and I've now kept it off through today at least. Normally when I do a SD I gain a little back 2 days after. I like SD's but usually get nauseous and I'm not able to eat much of the steak. The egg day was a nice change and worked for me. I'm in P4 though and I cleared eggs long before now.

I am having a hard time stabilizing. I have been trying to stop a frozen shoulder from completely freezing and had to go on a steriod 2xs during phase 2. In Phase 3 I was doing ok til I had a cortisone shot, I am not sure if this influenced my weight gain. I have had to do 3 steak days and can't seem to drop more than .5 to 1 pound - then the scale goes back up that 1 lb, sometimes 2 or once I lost the 1 lb and then it just stayed there. Should I do another steak day or do a week of 1 day fast, with correction days?
