You should get your thyroid checked. A frozen shoulder is often related to low thyroid. I never recommend anything but a steak day. But it might be less stressful to just adjust your LIW up by a pound or two.

Have them look at your free T3 and free T4. Your free T3 should be 3-3.5.

Hi! I've been on P3 for almost a week now. I am so surprised to be finding P3 much harder that P2. P2 has a total formula, limited choices, and that 500 number of calories. The HCG totally killed my appetite and I had plenty of energy. So besides getting a little bored of the food choices, I didn't feel like I was suffering on P2.

This first week of P3 I have been going up and down with that darn 2lbs. Up 2.5, down 2, up 3, down 2. This week I happen to be on a super tight budget and couldn't go get steaks, so I did an egg correction day, and then just a protein day. They seemed to work with a loss the next day, but then I eat normal (no sugar, no starch) and up the 2 again. I also just feel so hungry all the time even though my calories are at LEAST up to 2,000. Eating avocados, coconut oil, fatty chicken thighs. My stomach is rumbling every 2 hours after eating it seems and I get very grumpy. Once I'm hungry like this I feel sugar cravings starting. I don't like this and I feel I'm not going to be able to keep it up. I'm already having to lug around a big thing of food to work with me I can't imagine I need to eat more.

Anyhow, I was wondering.... why can't we do a ground beef day, since it's essentially steak ground up....? I have a freezer full of ground beef (85% lean) and until I can get some steaks (end of next week) it would make it easy to do a ground beef day to stick closer to protocol with correction days.

    Any input?

2000 calories might not be enough. Try to eat some fat everytime you eat, and do eat every 2 hours especially if you are hungry.

In my experience, you can do a steak day with just about any fatty meat. I often will put a pork butt or chuck in the crock pot and slowcook it until it falls apart. The fattier the better. Ground beef would also be fine, but cook it in extra oil or butter to get the fat content higher. Even salmon can work.

tangster- I too feel that P3 is a harder phase. I just wrote a blog about it several days ago. So many choices, no set protocol... I felt like the only way to know if I was ok was by scale. I'm still learning. I'm in the beginning of my 3rd week of P3. I've had to do 2 steak days-- and I'm presently sitting at exactly 2 lbs over my LIW. I hope you find your ratio. If you feel like posting or reading about others that are in P3-- come on over to the Phase 3- journey thread.

I personally am the opposite and found P3 very easy. It's P4 I always had issues with. P3 you can now have fat on your meat, and basically eat like P2 except more of it and no sugar or starch.

I just ate anytime I am hungry, or like Leez says, try to eat every few hours. So many dressings out there that don't have sugar, so I used them.

The scale is your best friend. Weigh every morning at about the same time.It lets you know immediately if something you just ate affected your weight. So take it slow, try something new one day and take it from there. Then I would wait another day before I tried something new again.

I can give you links for help in P3 on how other approach it if you like.

Jayk- isn't it amazing how the same diet affects all of us differently?
In past rounds, I tried to eat P2 foods with added fats and higher quantities, but I landed up gaining all of my weight back.. This time, I'm adding other foods- P3 foods. I also realized that I don't do well with prepackaged foods, so for now, I took them out of my diet. Like you suggest, I weigh everyday. For the last 3 days, I've had the same weight. Hopefully, I can keep it up.

I'm starting to research P4-- I'm planning on eating P3 style 5-6 days out of the week and 1 day a week, I'll add in a starchy veggie and lower the fat. We'll see.

Yes I agree the phases can be different for each of us. I haven't touched prepackaged foods either this time. I do have to watch breads, pizza dough etc as well. I have stayed within the 2lbs so far, but those foods bring it up.
I have been eating sprouted grain bread or buns when I do want a sandwich or burger.

I wish us all good progress

I think it works because intermittent fasting is actually good for you, helps you lose fat and gain muscle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermittent_fasting

When you find a steak day doesn't work for you, it is likely because the gain is from inflammation from something you ate. Eat mostly protein for a couple of days, and the inflammation will likely subside and you'll drop down from the steak day, even if it's a little later than expected. Contrary to what you might have heard, a steak day does not slow down your metabolism. All the research about intermittent fasting makes this clear. Some have even lost a bit of weight in P4 by doing steak days every week. Some do other types of intermittent fasting to drop a few pounds. It is not harmful, and it is the Simeons protocol which I very much believe in. So when you are more than 2 pounds over your LIW, I advise a steak day.

When you are less than 2 pounds up and you want to try another correction day, you might try an alternate correction day.I tend to not like yogurt days because dairy is so often the reason for the weight creeping up. So while you might lose on a yogurt day, you could be adding to the inflammation and the weight creeps right back. You can try a protein day where you eat protein every 2-3 hours. You might also try the Nora Gedgaudas method of eating lots of fats and limiting protein for a couple of days. That works for quite a few. An egg day is sometimes done, but it can be problematic as well since people with an autoimmune disease (and some of you have it and don't know it) should avoid eggs because the cooked yolks are inflammatory. Some do well with an Atkins fat fast day too.

    Hope this helps!

    Yes.

You can have coffee with heavy cream all day though (If you are not dairy sensitive--if so, you can froth your coffee with MCT or coconut oils)

That makes it much more pleasant. I usually make it until about 4PM, then I have my steak and apple.
