AW: The Ultimate P3 Correction Day: I Lost 2.6 lbs on a Chicken Thigh Day!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. The thing is, she believes like all other docs in the guidelines. TSH is normal. It's much more stable tan ft3 & ft4, so to her low values of those r not even borderline. She really means well (we actually met privately first & liked eachother from day 1)so she is willing to run more tests including rt3 & antibodies etc. But she just doesn't get it... And I don't think she will.
The taking meds for the rest of my life is exactly the problem... I ll go c my natural practitioner friend next sat & ve her do the bio-resonance treatment, then run whatever tests r needed. If her treatment doesn't work I ll ve no other options. I ve gained half my weight back & feel old & tired at the age of 36...

    Hiya, Teutonica!

Here's perhaps one of the most comprehensive collections of data on another thing involved in fat storage and obesity and the syndrome called "insulin resistance." There are a few things I'm looking at. Cytokenes and hormones and whatnot. Adiponectin is one of the factors involved in obesity. Leptin, resistin, visifatin, insulin, and now...adiponectin.

    Link here: http://scienceandreason.blogspot.com...iponectin.html

This latest part of the puzzle, "adiponectin," is interesting. Resistin, leptin, and adiponectin have roles in fat storage and increasing sensitivity to insulin. And insulin is, as many people know so far, the hormone that determines how you'll use energy from food (blood sugar regulation). If it goes into your fat for later use, or if it gets used immediately.

So, FYI: I'm looking at alotta stuff...my favorites are lepin, insulin resistance, insulin, resistin, and adiponectin.

SOMEHOW there are things we can do to inspire more adiponectin; the more we have, the less obese we are (according to studies). The more obese we are, the less we have of adiponectin.

I'll get back to you all on this. I always try out stuff on myself first, and then see if it's worthwhile to recommend to others. I'll see if there's anything in the short term that's safe that I can recommend.

In 2 weeks, I'm starting with R2 so I'm hoping to stay on it or maybe even go a bit lower. Until then, I really want to avoid another CD! Let's hope that keeping carb intake low will be enough

Resistin? My, what's that? Another new thing? I'm suffering information overload and so does my bedside table! It will collapse soon under the weight of all the books I've been reading concerning thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances (esp estrogen dominance), adrenal fatigue, leptin resistance, primal eating ... and I will follow suit, figuratively speaking, LOL. Nevertheless, I'd be very interested what you can find out.

    Hi Hilda!

You've had gastric bypass surgery before, correct? How's your tummy size -- is it stretched out back to normal? You may have to eat smaller amounts at a time if it's still small. Meaning, eating just one thigh every 2 hours. With 7 thighs total for the day. Also do caffeine too....for every one cup of caffeine though, drink an equivalent of two cups of the same size in water.

And don't forget to do PCDS, hon! Keep us updated. And good luck today!

Do you have any doc around you that works with alternative treatments? Somewhere on this site, http://thyroid.about.com/bio/Mary-Shomon-350.htm, she has lists of drs. who do this and maybe with a few phone calls, you may luck out. That's what I had to do. Don't waste time or money on endocrinologists either. If the lab results put you in 'normal', it must be true, right? HAHAHAHA Have you ever had your hormone levels tested? Estrogen, etc? You could have hormone levels jumping all over the place and if one hormone is off, they all will be.

    Hi all,

Here is a good, SAFE supplement that improves insulin sensitivity. I almost TOTALLY forgot why I'd been taking it until I remembered today, LOL.

Insulin resistance is what can be basically referred to as "pre-diabetes" -- or "blood sugar issues" -- it has a few components. Not to mention it's related to the stuff I mentioned earlier (all the stuff about resistin, obesity, insulin, leptin, visifatin, adiponectin, etc. that's been on my brain).

It's....ta-da...Magnesium Chloride. I've mentioned this before too, that it increases sensitivity to insulin. It's not JUST ANY magnesium; it's a certain type that has been proven in studies as decreasing insulin resistance and increasing insulin sensitivity. The most commonly taken magnesium supplement in multi-vitamins -- magnesium oxide -- is not as absorbable as magnesium chloride. And not all forms of magnesium produce the same effects.

Sooo.....I take "Mag64 by Rising"...4 tablets a day. The Recommended Daily Allowance of 64% magnesium, and 44% calcium, and 22% chloride is in there with the 4 tablets I take. The typical dose is 2 tablets; I do twice that.

Here's a link to a study that discusses how mag chloride has increased insulin sensitivity: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15223977

    A snippet from the article:
    RESULTS: At baseline there were not significant anthropometric or laboratory differences between both groups. At ending of the study, magnesium-supplemented subjects significantly increased their serum magnesium levels (0.61 +/- 0.08 to 0.81 +/- 0.08 mmol/l, p<0.0001) and reduced HOMA-IR index (4.6 +/- 2.8 to 2.6 +/- 1.1, p<0.0001), whereas control subjects did not (0.62 +/- 0.08 to 0.61 +/- 0.08 mmol/l, p=0.063 and 5.2 +/- 1.9 to 5.3 +/- 2.9, p=0.087).

CONCLUSIONS: Oral magnesium supplementation improves insulin sensitivity in hypomagnesemic non-diabetic subjects.

The statement of "not significant anthropometric or laboratory differences between both groups" is essentially saying the two groups were very similar in their physiology and habits, if you're wondering what that means. So the study results obtained from both the group with a placebo and the group who took magnesium chloride are valid as a result because of that.

I take 256 grams of magnesium, btw, with my 4-tablet dose. I highly recommend the Mag64, by the Rising brand, that I take. It may have been one thing that helped me stabilize and also avoid inflammation/cortisol/blood sugar spikes/gains. So if you've been gaining, take MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE, and not any other type of magnesium, to get the same results as those people in the study (and me too, I believe).

    One last link:

THIS is a very comprehensive article. There's a link at the bottom to a "tonic" of sorts; not necessary to use this, but it may be of interest to some people.

The Ultimate P3 Correction Day: I Lost 2.6 lbs on a Chicken Thigh Day!!!!!!!!!!

GonnaLoseIt I thought I read that magnesium citrate was the best. Not sure where in this forum I read that. Wonder what is the difference? So hard to keep up with some details. I enjoy reading your posts. Sounds like you enjoy studying.

    Hiya, Lola!

Mag citrate is known for relieving constipation; that's why you've heard of it. It's in "natural calm" drink mix. BUT it's not known for increasing insulin sensitivity. Insulin sensitivity has to do with how well you respond to insulin, and how likely your body is able to process glucose and make you fat or not, in a manner of speaking. The Mag chloride is known for helping with that (helping your body NOT make you fat via alleviating some insulin issues, lol). The links ((above)) explain the history behind mag chloride.

One last footnote: mag chloride won't do to you (at least to the same extent) the same thing mag citrate will -- meaning, it won't give you the diarrhea mag citrate does.

And...heh heh...I DO indeed enjoy studying! Good observation, Lola.
