The protocol correction day is called "skipping a meal". Most call it a steak day. It involves eating a large steak and either a raw apple or tomato for dinner and nothing else but liquids for the day. You can read everything the protocol has to say about it here:
    http://hcgdietinfo.com/hCG-Diet-Manu...rotocol-77.htm

The steak day is the preferred correction day for going over your 2 pound window, and the only one that is considered on-protocol, except for the correction specified for protein deficiency, also known as a high protein day: http://hcgdietinfo.com/hCG-Diet-Manu...ht-Loss-81.htm.
That is two eggs for breakfast and a huge steak for lunch and dinner followed by a large helping of cheese.

Some find that steak day doesn't work well for them, or it stops working after a time. There are times when you need to do a steak day, but its inconvenient either for the timing or because you aren't prepared. The topic provides some options you can try, collected from reports made around these forums.

This is anecdotal evidence gathered through trial and error of alternate correction days that work as well or better than the steak day. The following list is of methods that have multiple reports of success. If you have discovered something different that has worked for you, please post about it in this topic.

Linda Prinster high protein day: Lots of water throughout the day, don't eat till lunch: whole can of tuna or chicken with mayo on lettuce or celery. Dinner: big portion of protein with small salad and 0-1 carb dressing such as ranch. If extremely hungry in the morning, you can have 2 eggs. This method is meant to ward off a looming steak day.
    Projected loss: about a pound.

The following alternate correction day options have been regularly reported to achieve losses of 2-4 pounds. All have enough calories to use in P3. With all of them, drink water and other liquids during the day as well.

Steak Day meat variation Do the protocol steak day as otherwise written, but instead of a steak use a roast of pork, beef or lamb, short ribs, fatty ground beef, salmon, or dark meat chicken. Extra fat in the form of coconut oil, olive oil, butter and bacon can be added if you don't feel the meat is fatty enough.

Chicken Thigh day: Bake chicken with skin on and eat till satisfied whenever hungry all day.

Chicken Day: Eat a whole 3-5 pound roasted chicken throughout the day.

FFF greek yogurt day (Full Fat ***e): A quart of greek yogurt plus 8 oz berries eaten throughout the day. If you can't get full fat greek yogurt in your area, you can create it by adding 3/4 C. heavy cream to your quart of low or no-fat greek yogurt.

Egg day: Eat up to a dozen eggs throughout the day. Boiled, fried, poached, deviled. Its all good. You can add mayonnaise, butter, cheese and sugar free relish.

Fat Fast day: Eat every two hours or so at around 200 calories, and stay above 80% fat at each mini-meal. Good choices: Macadamia nuts, cream cheese bombs, lemon truffles or cocoa crack, avocado, mayo, butter, bacon, heavy cream. This is inspired by the Atkins Fat Fast which is recommended as a 3 day plan. As an HCG correction day, do not continue for longer than one day, as it is too low in protein. Some 200 calorie meal ideas can be found in the What to Eat section of this blog page: https://www.ruled.me/using-fat-fasting-technique/ A variation of Fat Fast day is Nut day, which follows the same "dosing" rules, but each meal is made up of only nuts.

Apple/Cheese day: Eat 2 apples + 2 ounces of cheese at each meal for a total of 6 apples and 6 ounces cheese. Size and variety of apple does not matter. Choose any cheese you like or mix it up.

Hybrid Steak Day Same as protocol steak day, except you have either a protein shake or a cup of greek yogurt with 1/2 C berries for breakfast.

My correction day tips. Note that these work for me. That does not necessarily mean they will work for you. Proceed accordingly.

    Correction day helpers:
    1. Add cream to your coffee throughout the day. It doesn't appear to affect losses and helps keep you satsified while waiting to eat that big steak.
    2. Pick the fattiest, most highly marbled cut you can find. The fattier the better.
    3. Add butter, olive oil or coconut oil to your steak or protein, or make some coco-crack and have a bite or two for dessert after eating your steak.
    4. Don't be afraid to sub a pot roast or some other fatty meat or even salmon for the steak. They seem to work the same.

My best correction days that have gotten me 4+ pound losses on occasion:

Protocol steak day (apple or tomato produce the same losses, but I prefer apple)
Steak day with other fatty meat (pork butt roasted in a crockpot works well for me)
    FFF day
Apple/cheese day (my variation is to eat it in 5-6 meals)

Some of the others worked, but I'll usually get less than a 2 pound loss. The high protein days do not work for me at all.
My worst? Egg day. I tried it before I knew I was egg-sensitive and gained 2 pounds. Think that was a clue?

    My best losses are from:

    1) Dandelion Tea for breakfast, Water all day and the "famous" inflammation smoothie for dinner.( 3-4 lbs.)
    2) J Robb Egg White Protein Shakes w/ frozen fruit and HWC - 2 for lunch, 1 for dinner ( 3-4 lbs.)
3)Coffee for breakfast, Water all day, Salt Free Whole Roasted Chicken slathered in butter for dinner ( 3-4 lbs.)

My digestion is too slow for steak days any more - they use to work, so I only do them if I want an excuse to eat a big 16 oz. porterhouse or rib eye steak, but wait an extra day after total fasting to weigh ( 3-4 lbs.).

sdwis, I'm amazed that you can do a fast day after already doing a steak day. That takes a lot of determination. I don't think I could do that.

Fasting is a trigger that puts me in a bad mental place, since it is what I used to try to control my weight when severe restricting didn't work. Don't ever want to go back there again.

@jayk: HWC is heavy whipping cream.

I think it's because my stomach still feels full from all that steak the day before I'm never hungry on those fasting days at all. I also cook my steak in Beef Tallow, or even Bison Tallow (which I happened upon last year at a local health food store), so the richness of all that meat and added fat stays with me for a while. Back when steak days worked for me I once even had a 32-oz. Porterhouse with tomato for dinner and lost 5 lbs.

Were you Intermittent Fasting, or doing it on more of an almost starvation mode basis?

I was doing water only fasts for up to 3 weeks at a time. So yes, the starvation diet. The problem with doing that all the time is that you slow your metabolism down to a crawl. At the height of my disturbed eating, I had to keep calories under 600 to keep from gaining. I lived pretty much on boiled cabbage and not a lot else. It was a dark time.

I was reading an interesting article about intermittent fasting today. One of the points of the article was that while IF can be workable for healthy people, if you have compromised adrenals it will make things worse. That's probably why I do better when I'm eating to hunger regularly, and why I get derailed by doing steak days too often. I was treated for adrenal exhaustion a while ago, but who knows if it is completely resolved. I would expect not.

    I looked up my chart:

Diagnosis was Stage 1 Adrenal Exhaustion with significantly elevated cortisol. I did this simultaneously with my first HCG round, as the doctor felt that weight loss would help relieve symptoms, and the diet was mostly compatible with her dietary recommendations for the AE. I was instructed to split up my meals and have an apple for breakfast.

Treatment was testing for cortisol levels, then some supplements (seriphos, pregnenalone, DHEA) for about 3 months until cortisol levels normalized. The rest of the treatment was about stress reduction. I had to be in bed by 10pm and not to get up before 9am. No coffee, low glycemic diet, protein with every meal. Stop gluten and dairy. 20 minute walk a day. No multi-tasking. Breakfast no later than 10am. No sugar.

This was the first order of business before working on anything else. FM doctor said adrenal balance was the key to balancing other hormones.

Leez - Is it also okay to break up the protein over 5-6 small meals and then add in a couple of small salads in between or with some of the protein? I think i messed up this morning by eating some tuna fish because i was hungry. How must protein should be consumed on a high protein day?

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules. The Prinster high protein day is basically a suggestion of what can work. Which is basically 2 meals, and breakfast if you need it. 2 meals keep calories controlled, and give enough time for digestion. But smaller meals might work for you. Its something to try.

Just for digestion purposes, its best to have some low glycemic veggies with your protein rather than eat it alone. But many do fine on just eating a whole rotisserie chicken and nothing else for the day, and have no digestive issues with that, so it can be individual.
