I am 100+ days into P4 and will tell you it just takes time for your mind and body to figure everything out. This protocol forced me to face my food issues and I am still being tested. Although I will say that it is made much easier by the amazing results I have had and how happy I am with my weight.

I am trying to decide how best to handle Thanksgiving (I hope Margie chimes in). DO I eat what I want and correct the next day or do I eat only P4 compliant foods. Not sure what to do. I will drink beer and have no hang ups about this but it will be the first holiday meal for me on P4.

    Help!

All foods are P4 compliant, hon. Unless you're saying that you have discovered some food sensitivities? Even on Thanksgiving, I won't eat gluten. The main thing that will help you tomorrow is to make sure you get enough protein. Load up on turkey and deviled eggs. Eat ONE piece of pie if you can have gluten not three. Take small servings of the starches like sweet potato casserole. At least that's my plan. LOL

how has your weight been? have you been able to stay in the range you wanted to? when you're this far into P4 i look at it as a lifestyle choice. some people seem to have the mindset that there are times that they'll eat all kinds of stuff they should not, and then just rely on correction days to get their weight back down. but that's the kind of yoyoing that got us overweight in the first place, and i get concerned that binges can mess with the hypothalamus again.

so i'd say to have a little bit of whatever you'd like, but not to go crazy. if you need to, then you cut back for a few days. but i would not try to stuff in a lot of protein, either. although the extra protein will make the scale look better for just the following morning (because it will help with water retention), over the course of a few day it will not- and it just adds more calories.

I hope to do this too! I hope that I won't be sorely tempted by the mashed potatoes and all those amazing desserts that will be there. (We're going to an amazing buffet for dinner) All we can do is try to do our best to care for ourselves even in the midst of such food ****!

Thanks Colleen and Margie for your responses.

I am not really tempted by desserts, my cocoa crack with almond butter more than satisfies any sweet cravings I amy have.

The one thing I will have difficulty with will be homemade rolls my Dad makes. They are unbelievable. I must still have left over (pardon the pun) food issues because I am thinking about this at all. I wish I could just eat a small serving of whatever and go on with my life. I just worry that if I eat bread my old cravings will kick in again.

We shall see what happens later today! Enjoy everyone...

P3 as of November 2, 2010...just in time to get to P4 by Thanksgiving!

Today is my first day of P4, so it'll be quite a test! I plan to have a little of my favorites and not eat any of the stuff I'm not all that fond of. I'll pass on the stuffing, for example. I'll probably eat extra turkey, stay away from the rolls, have small servings of both kinds of potatoes, and enjoy a small sliver of pumpkin pie. I also made a P3-compliant pumpkin cheesecake, so I'll have to have some of that. My sister-in-law said she's making some healthier veggie dishes, too (we're going to her house).

The wine will likely be what makes the scale go up, but it shouldn't be by much (unless I go overboard). I'll pretty much go back to P3 after today for at least a few days, and then start trying to add starches slowly.
    108 days on HCG (July 15-November 1). P3 November 2-24. P4 beginning Thanksgiving Day 2010!

    How'd everybody do yesterday?

I had turkey with a 2 Tbl of gravy (sorry Mom, it was a little dry), some mashed sweet potato, veggie medly made with cheese and Durkee onion, and 3 tiny rolls that would normally equal one regular sized one. The batch was tiny this year so it sounds worse then it was. I had some cheese and pepperoni also. I did not weigh-in this morning but will tomorrow. Toight is the ;ast get together for the holiday wknd. I am not worried about the food with this group it will be the beer.

All in all I think I am in a good mental place and will recover from eating carby foods after I get back into my regular eating and exercise routine.

I definitely indulged during the meal, I didn't eat large amounts of any food but I did have some of everything and I didn't hold back either. I was 2.6 over my LIW yesterday so I did a steak and salad day and droppped to 1.4 over LIW today. Going to stick with the steak and salad again today and see if I can get back down to LIW or below it.

I was astonished to see that my weight was 127.6. Been there for the last 14 days. So far the indulging hasn't caught up with me, yet.

So, I am sseing that any difficuly I have maintaining in P4 generally occurs around TOM. Hope it stays that way as long I keep up with my workout routine and low carb lifestyle. I like it.

That's great to hear! I've been following your thread, and I'm glad to hear this news! I really appreciate reading about your ups and downs, what you tried, what worked and what didn't.

(And selfishly, as one who is on day 2 of P4, I am looking to see what works for people as well!)
