    I totally agree with you Grammy about God giving us insight. I was having gaining issues too, and had no idea the cause or what I was going to do about it. One day I happened to turn on the tv after I got disconnected from a long distance call. There was a guy on a program talking about night shades, inflammation, & weight gain. Long story sort, this turned out to be the main cause of my gains in p3& 4. Since cutting out night shades I no longer have the 1-2lb. per day gainsI use to have,.

    Definitely agree that was a God-incidence, sdwis. I mean what are the odds of you just happening to see that segment at that moment and then actually listen to it rather than quickly switch away to some familiar program? And then have it be your answer....thats a big wow.

    End of week report for 4FMD, week one:

    I don't know what it is about part3, but it seems to bring back everything I lose during the week. This time, I only allowed part3 2 days, and only had Ezekiel bread as my grain, and not at dinner, and still gained a lot. No losses in part one this time, which is unsual for me, but possibly linked to the vitaminC starch binder. (I did the lasering of the meds for cornstarch on Thurs). Since I knew I was only going to shorten part3, I did add some fats the second part2 day and made it more of a high protein day. Here's the rundown of weight each morning:

    1-1: start at 151
    1-2: 151.2 - gain of .2
    1-3: 151.2
    2-1: 151.2
    2-2: 150 - loss 1.2
    3-1: 148.4 - loss 1.6
    3-2: 151 - gain 2.6
    Today: 151.4 -gain .4

    So, not a good week one being as I'm a half pound heavier than when I started. I've started the weaning from the BP med a few days ago. So far so good. No spiking, and numbers are staying down in the normal range and have found that GABA helps with the anxiety symptoms.

    I'm the same way on P3. If I do it again, I will have only sweet potato as a starch and no bread.

    Seems crazy though. Even at the end of HCG P3 I was able to eat Ezekiel bread without gaining. And that was with slathering it in peanut butter.

    In P3 you are still feeling the effects of an elevated thyroid though. In P4, that can all go south.

    Leez, I really appreciate you sharing your daily experience with FMD, I have been following your thread very closely. I am thinking of trying FMD when I get to P4 after my next round in Jan. and it is good to hear how it is working and what you are learning as you progress. The discovery about the binding agent in your vitamins and meds is major, many of us may be having the same problem with other meds.

    I know it takes time and effort to post, so I wanted you to know that there are a lot of us out here who appreciate your sharing. Thanks.

    Thanks for the post DeepWaters. I do hope it is helpful to see the ups and downs going through this. I"m not posting daily menus and such, because that can get boring....but I try to note observations or new things or ideas I try. Everyone's journey is really their own though. You kind of have to find your way through it.

    I'm on the part1 (grain/fruit/low fat) menus for a couple days, so I thought I'd try making a very low fat hummus for dinner. I used my beans as both my dinner protein and the grain allowance. I had about a cup total. (I read on Hayley's blog that you can sub beans for the grain occasionally), and instead of the tahini and olive oil, I used about a tablespoon of powdered peanut butter, plus garlic, lemon, ground chiles as per normal and had it with vegetable dippers (baby carrots, red bell pepper, jicama). It didn't taste exactly like hummus, of course, but it was pretty good. I'll probably make that again.

    Some recipes suggest just using cumin instead of the tahini, but that's not a flavor I'm fond of, so went with my aberration instead. It seems you can defat tahini by pouring off the oil and blending water back in, but theres no way to know how much fat is left doing that, so I opted for the peanutbutter powder instead.

    Edit: Next morning weigh-in, I'm back to LIW at 150, so that was a 1.4 pound drop from a fruit/grain day. Awesome.

    It looks like I'll go ahead with my plan to try 4 - 1- 2 as my phase rotation this 2nd week of FMDround4.

    End of week 2, 4FMD

    Worked my 4-day part1 plan and was doing pretty good for a while. I even lost a bit after Christmas eve dinner and got to a below LIW weight even after last weeks huge gain. Then, I had a run in with an allergen this weekend. I had some pho at a Vietnamese place. I later found out that the roast pork in it was made with a rub that contains cornstarch. So next morning....up 2.4 pounds. Did the part3 plan yesterday, and today I'm down over a pound from that. So week 3 is now starting at a pound over LIW and a half pound less than the start of week 2 (right after the last big gain). If I keep this pattern up, the month will be a wash, as my starting weight was 151. Here's the rundown:

    151.4 Mon (start week 2)
    150 Tues
    150.4 Wed xmas eve feast
    149.4 Th
    149.4 Fri Mex restaurant - shrimp fajitas
    149.8 Sat (so mex was ok!) another night out -Vietnamese
    152.2 Sun - something in the pho!
    151 Mon (today)

    I did the 4-1-2 rotation and I plan to repeat it this week. I did have a little oil on the part2 day in the fajitas and guacamole I had at dinner, but didn't do a full out fat day. Not sure what that means as I didn't have a loss after the protein day. Also not sure I'll find out soon as this is another holiday week, and foods may not be as controlled as normal again. I keep reminding myself that just staying in my window is victory.
