WOW ! I just spent the entire day reading all about your journey- LEEZ. It was wonderful ! Thank you for posting every step, discussing your feelings, and your enthusiasm. I placed my name on a library waiting list for the books regarding the fast metabolism diet/cookbooks/burn. I plan to read them thoroughly- and then decide if I should purchase them and try the plan for myself.
In the past ( not recently)- I did very well on the Zone diet by Dr. Barry Sears. But some time ago, I felt it was too time consuming with 3 young children and a husband to care for. But, I am considering returning to the Zone during P4 of the HCG.
PLEASE keep posting !! As I read your posts, I feel like we are having a conversation. You answer all my questions without even realizing it. SO HAPPY I FOOUND THIS THREAD!
    THANK YOU AGAIN

Sucking on smoothie number 9 as I write this. One more day after today and I'll have completed this H-burn experiment. There doesn't seem to be any immediate payoffs as I'm going through the plan. I haven't had a repeat of the 5 hour stretch of sleep again, unfortunately. I can only hope that the effects will manifest later, as they did from the D-burn.

Apparently, you can do this or any of the burns 3 times in a row if you think they are helping you. I can't imagine doing this for another 20 days, and I'm pretty desperate. Its not that it's hard, it just takes a commitment to stay on the eating schedule, which at times feels relentless. I'll be glad to have more freedom NOT to eat in a couple of days.

I think that I will change my LIW to 135 following this program. It just seems closest to where I keep settling out, and I don't want to keep fighting my poor body with steak day punishments. I think it will be more peaceful all around.
Been following your posts and enjoy reading your journey. Thanks for sharing.

I think 135 is an okay weight. I changed my goal weight to this, and am on P3 day 4 and have maintained. I am a size 6. I lost inches in the last 4 days and am reshaping as a week ago one pair of shorts just fit, and now they are loose, even though I was the same weight. I am 5'4" and am happy with my weight now. I am also 51 years old.

P4 is where I have issues, so will see once I get there and plan to follow Hayley's FMD if I have troubles. I do know from reading the Burn diets depend upon what you need. We don't need to do each one if its not necessary.
I am introducing new foods slowly but doing it and weighing every day this time.

    Good luck Leez.

I'm good with 135. I'm in 6's and 4's too--who could complain about that? I had the exact same experience with shorts fitting at the end of P3 this time too!

FMD was a solution for me to stop the gains in P4. I think its a good tool to have in your arsenal. And doing it, I learned some things that seem to work for me when I'm not following that plan.

You're right that the Burns are for things you need help with. But also, Hayley suggests them as ways to break an FMD stall for those using FMD to lose weight. The I-Burn is only 3 days, so that seems like a good one to use for a stall breaker if you don't have any pressing areas of need.

H-burn Day 10: Loss 1 pound Net change: Loss 3 pounds
Boosters: pepper, acacia, stretching, skin brushing

So today is the last day. I was happy to see that pound loss. Any bit of cushion I can get is welcome. There will be one more weigh-in tomorrow and then I'll have completed this 10 day intensive. woo-hoo! *puts notch in belt*

I have one more dinner to cook today. I'm heading down to the farmer's market in a bit to get something I need for it. But you can bet I will be checking out the seasonal fruits I've had to avoid on this plan for tomorrows menu. You do get to eat fruit a couple times a day on the H-burn, but the list is limited to citrus, peaches, plums, and mangos, and pomegranite.

Very glad to get the last of the soup and tea consumed today. Done!

Woo Hoo! I'll be interested to hear over the next couple of days about how you are sleeping or any improvement in your hot flashes. I know you were hoping to see some change in regards to that. H burn is not on my radar as I haven't had a flash in years and honestly, since doing the HCG diet I almost always sleep through the night now....this was not the case for me before. I was hardened middle of the night snacker, in fact it was, I thought the only way I could get myself back to sleep. Hope that doesn't rear it's ugly head again.

By doing H-burn, I've learned a couple of things about ways to get healthy flavors into dishes that I had never tried before:

    1. Using hummus as a binder in tuna salad instead of mayo. It was really good. I'll do that again. I would have never thought of it.
    2. Using Dijon or grainy mustard/olive oil/lemon and herbs as a marinade for roasted veggies. I've never been a mustard fan, but this was really excellent. Not at all "mustardy". Definitely now in my repertoire.

Even if those reading don't end up doing this, I would highly recommend the recipes. Many are P3 friendly. Every one was really delicious, and I'll especially be using the salad ones. I'm not a big salad person normally, but I loved these. They all had great flavor and lots of crunch. And they all include fruit--how could that be bad?

I'm excited about her recipes and this was a huge factor in my buying the FMD book. You are so right, if we don't take a risk, we don't learn anything new......so thanks for that reminder! I am learning to love cooking. Next up on my list....making my own sausage. How can that be a bad thing? I'm sure I can freeze it and then I'll know exactly what's in it!!

I LOVE the recipes in The Burn. That lentil chili is to die for.

    H-Burn wrap up

So, that lovely pound I lost yesterday is back. Interestingly, that exact thing happened when I did the D-Burn too. I lost a little during the 5 days, and then after the last day, gained it back.

That means the weight loss for the 10 days is about 2 pounds. More would have been nice (since I was up in red zone territory when I started) but weight loss was not my main reason for doing this. My purpose in doing the H-Burn was to see if it could abate my hot flashes in any way and help me stay asleep longer. As for any perceivable benefits, I don't see any yet. Except for that one time where I didn't awaken for 5 hours, I'm not sleeping any better, and if anything--the hot flashes are worse and more frequent at night. I do have an occasional 3 hour stretch of sleep, but that's not anything different than before. But something may manifest as time goes on, and if it does, I'll update.

I did enjoy the morning smoothie, so I'll probably make that once in a while. Its a great way to get a pile of greens into your day. And I'll probably roast vegetables more often now that I have a way to make them really flavorful. I didn't mind the tea, but I never want to see that green soup again. Its not that it was bad. It was just ubiquitous. Drinking a quart of it a day was probably the hardest part of the plan for me. Which really means that doing this was actually pretty easy.

Today, I'm starting my day with the smoothie to use up the rest of the supplies I have for that and then I'll move back into some free eating for a while and see how things go.

Colleen, I love that lentil chili too! The shepherd's pie with the sweet potato crust is another fave. I liked all the lunch salad recipes in this plan, and the dinner one I liked the best was the Roasted Spaghetti Squash with Shiitake Mushrooms & Beef.
