Oh that shepherd's pie is my fave too. The book is worth buying just for the recipes. Hope it really did some healing for you, Leez!

    Thanks, I hope so too.

This is about 5 days out now, and I did have another 5 hour stretch of sleep last night. Its too early to declare it a trend or anything, but I'm hopeful.

Weight wise, I'm at a few ounces over my adjusted LIW, so that part is going well. I had a big jump up a few days ago after trying some pumpkin seeds, of all things. But that has dropped back down now with my regular eating, so that makes me happy. I'm very glad I adjusted LIW up or I'd be doing a steak day already. It was a good decision, and truthfully, I don't feel any heavier and my clothes fit the same as well. My "magic menu" is the way I prefer to eat anyway, so I'm ecstatic that it also serves to bring me back in range.

I don't know what it is with me and seeds, but there seems to be some problem there. To date, I've reacted to pine nuts, annato seed, chia seeds, flax seeds, kiwi seeds, hemp seeds and now pumpkin seeds.

I seem to be fine with sunflower seeds and sesame seeds so far though. I'm not sure what would cause the difference...I was suspecting it might be the omega 3 oil content. But then, sesame seeds have twice as much omega 3 as pumpkin seeds, so its unclear. Although, I only use the sesame in the form of tahini in my hummus, so it could be just the smaller amount that lets it get by.

I may try the flax seeds one more time, as I'm not completely sure about that one, and I'm starting to get desperate for some kind of egg substitute that will work with a couple of my favorite recipes.

Could your reaction to the seeds be inflammation in the digestive tract, as opposed to a sensitivity to the oil? I only wonder because you seem to be able to eat the tahini, which is ground, but not the seeds that are whole? Just a thought .

I suppose that's possible. Previously, I often paired hummus with the Ezekiel sprouted bread with the whole sesame seeds on the crust. (Although I haven't used that bread version this post HCG time. So I'll have to try that idea out again.)

I don't have diagnosed IBS, but I've fought constipation all my life. My mother had Crohn's disease, and my paternal grandmother couldn't eat anything with tiny seeds without pain (she blamed her gall bladder), so its a strong possibility there might be something to that thought just from looking at family history.

With annato seed, its only from the coloring (used in orange cheeses) that cause me the problem...so there is no actual whole seed there, which confuses the issue further. Its so weird. Any white cheeses I'm fine with, but the minute I eat an orange colored one--I react with a huge gain. No big deal now that I know. You can easily find a great white cheddar. Its just figuring out all this stuff that is so tricky.

I've always thought the best cheddars were white! I grew up eating Vermont Cheddars and was always surprised by a yellow cheddar!

LEEZ- I was rereading this thread and I was wondering how you are sleeping... Have you been able to have a restful night?

    Thanks for asking.

I had one night within H-Burn that I had a 5-hour stretch, and one more night since then. However, over-all, its about the same. I do get an occasional 3 hour stretch, but not every night. I haven't made a report because I can't really say anything has changed consistently. Maybe that I am going back to sleep more easily more often. But again, not consistent.

Hot flashes. They are relentless. Somewhere there has to be a remedy for me.

I'm sorry to hear that Leez. I know you were hoping for some lasting change.
I've gone back to my early morning waking (pre HCG). I've fallen into this cycle where I wake in the wee hours, stay awake for a while then fall back for a couple of hours before getting up with the dog around 6. Then by the time the night time rolls around I can barely stay awake beyond 9pm. Then the whole cycle starts over. I am hoping that my body will re-adjust some now that I am home in NC and it is getting light a bit later. Also I've started back with the exercise and I think that should help with regulating my sleep. You know it's odd that I have had a hot flash or two lately, something I haven't had in a few years....I wonder if the HCG triggers some of that, even after you stop taking it. I suppose it would take the body a bit to level out after the hormones. They are light and quick, but just surpising.

Leez, what hormones have you tried and in what doses? It takes about 3 -6 mos of supplementation for your hormones to level out so how long did you try them?

The first time for 10 months at this dose:

    Biest 2.5/Progesterone 100mg/Testosterone 0.1

However, I stopped in the middle of that for an HCG round. So I kind of think of it as 2 shorter tries.
The third time I was on it for straight 11 months and she had changed the dose because I was still not getting any relief. She changed the dose, but only the progesterone, so the prescription was

    Biest 2.5/Progesterone 150mg/Testosterone 0.1

When nothing changed during that time, I asked her about changing the dose again, but she said I must not be absorbing it and I should have pellet insertion. I said no, and she didn't offer me any alternative. I refused the pellets because I've had so many serious food and drug reactions that it seemed like a bad idea to me to put something in my body that I couldn't get out if something went horribly wrong.

I'm disappointed that she gave up on me just because I didn't want to have the pellet insertion.

So I've been trying various things on my own, but haven't found anything that gives me any relief yet.

The best thing to take when you're having absorption issues is a sublingual. That's what I take. The gels worked great for the first few years, then I quit absorbing as well. What you're saying really doesn't tell me exactly how much you were taking though. For example, my triest is 100 mg per ml and I take .8 ml per day so I'm getting about 80 mg per day of estrogen. My progesterone is 100 mg per ml and I take 1.7 per day so I'm getting 170 mg of progesterone. Did the doctor run blood tests after about 4 mos to see where your levels were?

Are you saying you took it all in one tube? That's a terrible way to take bioidenticals because you can't adjust each one as needed.

o..missed this part: the adjusted mixture included 5mg per ml of DHEA
Yes, it was all mixed in one tube (which was basically a 10ml mixing syringe without a needle) and dispensed from that. 30ml per month, 1ml per day

    Does that help?

She never mentioned that I could adjust anything on my own.

A while after she changed the dose and added the DHEA, my price went from $22/mo to $78/month because the change coincided with the compounding pharmacies price increases. Ouch. I stopped shortly after that since it wasn't helping me at all anyway.
