It's no wonder it didn't work. Sigh. Though that price is actually very cheap. If you can't afford to do it with compounded meds, it CAN be done with Estrace and Promethium, both pills and generic. My compounded meds run me around $100 per month.

Is it no wonder it didnt' work because of the dose?

Maybe I can ask her about the sublingual BHRT again.

Yes because of the dose and not really checking to see what you needed.

Finally purchased 'The Burn" by Haylie Pomroy. Should have it next week. I just got her D-Burn Shake. I had to get it shipped to my Brother in Law in Washington, and have him ship it to me as she doesn't ship to Canada.

She sent me her metabolism noodles for free, so will have to try them as well. I am wanting to do the D-Burn, so will post back after reading the book etc.

I'm interested to know if the shakes really taste good or not. I used to use a meal replacement shake by Optein that I loved (Vanilla Creme flavor). They've discontinued the vanilla, but it has way too many sugars for the way I eat now anyway. I sort of measure the flavor of all others by that one. Someone said the FMD shakes taste like vanilla cake batter. I wish I could use the phase 2 FMD meal replacement shake, but it has xanthan gum which is something I avoid. Thats the only part of FMD where I would welcome a liquid meal. The rest of the time, I'd rather be eating real food.

I've use the glucomannan noodles before. They can be pretty satisfying. I actually prefer kelp noodles though. But glucomannan powder is awesome to use for thickening sauces and fruit compotes.

Hey Leez. I bought the vanilla D-Burn Shake, so will definitely let you know how it tastes. I have used GNC Total Lean Vanilla Shake and it tastes good.
It has 2g sugar and I don't think I seen xantham gum. Their website should show the ingredients. If not I could take a snapshot.

I will try the noodles one day. I am not really a pasta person anyway, very rare I eat it.

Here is the info from ingredients

    Hi Leez,
Regarding the kelp noodles- did you experience any after taste? I saw them on Amazon-- shipping was quite high. And I also looked into the capella drops-- I would love to experiment with them in recipes, but again find the shipping quite high-- not sure if you could share over the forum-- if not, would you pm me, where you were able to get both the kelp noodles and capella drops? I am in a metropolitan area, where I can pretty much find what I want in a store-- but it seems, I am having difficulty finding these items...UGH---

Btw--- I also bought the FMD book and cookbook.... once I establish a stable P3- I was hoping to try the fmd. But in recent enlightening of my digestive issues- I'm also considering a burn... I haven't decided which burn would be best-- I took the burn test and it seems I fit into 2-- hormones and digestion.. Digestion might be my preference as I'm having issues with constipation and bloat....
Are you doing anything presently? I just love reading your posts- they are so informative and nail biting...

I really like the way you get to eat all day with the FMD plans. I think you'll enjoy it, kapluzie.

Kelp noodles are pretty taste neutral. And you don't need to rinse off any fishy-smelling water like you do the miracle noodles. There is no aftertaste. What I like about them is that they are crunchy, kind of like a water chestnut type of crunchy which makes them great for things like cold asian salads. But, if you want a more pasta-like texture, all you have to do is put them in some kind of acidic sauce, and they become a soft noodle at that point.

I buy mine at my local health mart. You should be able to find them at any health food store like Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, etc. Netrition is a really good place to get Capella drops. They have a flat shipping rate. And the kelp noodles are only $3 a bag there.

When I took those tests, I qualified for them all! ^_^ The recipes in the D burn are super good. Loved them all, but didn't care for the tea. H -burn menus were all wonderful. I became addicted to the breakfast smoothie and I have that regularly even now. I haven't done I-Burn yet, but I expect it will be pretty good too.

I did the D-Burn right before my last HCG round, and it was the only round I sailed through with out constipation problems...so D-Burn definitely did something.

Starting FMD for maintenance damage control

After almost a week from returning from my California trip, I still haven't gotten back to LIW, so I'm embarking on some weeks of FMD to see it that will bring me back down.

The problem started a couple days before I left when I jumped up about 4 pounds overnight. (I know--kick in the butt, right?) I could not identify a culprit, but did a steak day and only lost 1.4 pounds from it. While away, I also did one steak day. I did another one this past week, but it failed to get me back to LIW. I'm about a pound over my window right now, so doing another steak day so soon is a bad idea. And since careful eating hasn't brought the number down any further, my next step is to go back into FMD, but with a small twist.

On other FMD courses, I would lose on Parts 1 & 2 and gain on part 3. So this time, instead of Part3, I'm going to substitute the H-Burn meals (sans the soup & tea). I read on Haley's blog that that was a viable strategy. Since I loved the H-burn smoothie and recipes, it should be a pleasant substitution. I'll probably do a small protein snack in between meals instead of the soup on those days. Not that the soup & tea were bad...its just that its summer, and drinking hot soup is not all that appealing. Instead of the tea, I'll just take some turmeric supplements.

I will not eliminate my coffee with cream, and will use some dairy protein, as both of those FMD-forbidden items seem benign in my case. With those exceptions, I will follow the FMD plans as outlined.

So my rotation this time will be:
    2 days part 1
    2 days part 2
    3 days H-Burn meals

Once I'm back to LIW, I might play around with the rotation and cut the part 2 days back to only 1. Or I might just follow the Trim Healthy Mama combining plan at that point. We'll see how it goes.

I'll update weekly, or when I think I have something interesting to say. ^_^

Warning! Rant about to be posted.....

O....found out something interesting while away. My sister-in-law told me about a friend of hers that has the same type of hot flashes as me (no sweating) and also once had Graves disease. She's had them for many years and nothing has touched them either. So that has me thinking that my hot flashes may have nothing to do with menopause at all--but are related to the Graves. If that is the case, then there may be no remedy for me. Because who ever even heard of that? None of my doctors ever mentioned it could be a factor.

It angers me that doctors basically take the position that you just have to deal with menopause symptoms as something annoying but inconsequential. When the truth is that it alters your whole life. Looking back, monthly periods were a lot less disruptive than constant hot flashes, although I would never at that time believed I would ever say that. Because of the way they disrupt my sleep, I really don't even feel like myself because of them. I'm a perpetual zombie.

You know, maybe you should find a good integrative medicine doctor who can address the inflammation that led to Graves in the first place. Thyroid issues can definitely cause hot flashes. But a good integrative doctor could figure it out.

My current HCG doctor is a functional medicine doctor. Wouldn't that be comparable? She knows I had Graves and is the one that is prescribing the Armour Thyroid for me.

I had a previous doctor that described himself as an integrative medicine doctor. He's the one that told me I had Paradoxical Parasympathetic syndrome that caused my metabolic syndrome issues and started me out on the horrid Coreg for that. (That diagnosis always sounded like a designer disease to me, actually. ^_^ ) The coreg and a low-carb diet was supposed to fix things within a year or so. (It didn't.) But then he got famous and stopped taking health insurance, so I couldn't get treatment from him anymore. Shouldn't he have known about it? He sent me to an endocrinologist when I reported to him some symptoms that seemed like the Graves was re-awakening. (Endo said I was fine and still in remission at that time. What is with these endos and thyroid stuffs? They all seem clueless.)

Yeah I dislike most endos. They are clueless about thyroid. Your functional med doctor should be the same. What does she say about the hot flashes.
