Leez, I think I'd laser sweet potatoes and do that for my starch. If I do FMD again, which I'm thinking of doing once I'm not traveling, I'm going to use sweet potato for my starch in P3.

Hcg P3 is three weeks though, Leez, regardless what Prinster says. Anyone can do FMD after the 3 weeks of P3. Pounds and Inches is clear that you only have to be careful for 3 weeks.

You're right, Pounds & Inches really does not address any further eating strategies after the first 3 weeks. I guess the whole idea of the second three weeks came from people developing the idea that starches should be introduced slowly in the aftermath, and it became the normal strategy. In fact, if you go by P&I alone, Dr. Simeon doesn't even suggest you introduce foods slowly in P3. So even that practice is something that's been added. He just says to go for it, but avoid starch and sugar.

Thinking about it, it makes sense to continue on with FMD, because its the same simple rule of Dr. Simeon --be careful about combining fats and starches. FMD is basically teaching you how to do that.

Thanks for the tip on using sweet potato. I hope the lasering works....I was so disappointed when I tried it a couple weeks ago and had to do a steak day right after. I love sweet potatos. (I probably sound like I love everything. ...) but there some things I don't love. Green olives for one. I hate how they stick their little pimentos out at you too.

@pinkita: I don't know if I could do this if I didn't work from home. I suppose I would find a way, but it would be a lot more daunting, and I'd have to be a lot more organized.

Maybe the gain from sweet potatoes was from carb sensitivity and after a couple of weeks on FMD your weight won't jump. We can hope!

That sounds totally logical. I didn't ever have a problem with them before this. But it does seem that with each round of HCG, I got more and more carb sensitive.

Is FMD something people do only when they're near/at goal weight? I'm on R2 and I'm guessing I'll need at least another 4 rounds of HCG to get to goal.

I might have considered it earlier if I had been aware of it. Especially after round 5. That P3 got out of control the first week and I never was able to come back from it.

Edit: Actually, I just realized that doesn't really address your question, since when I finished round 5, I was thinking I was done.

And although I hope for some weight loss on this, I will be completely gobsmacked if I get much lower than I am now. Unless things have really changed for me internally, HCG is been the only thing that has worked for me. Before I found it, I had been actively working to lose weight for about 8 continuous years, but was unsuccessful and even gaining. That's a long time to be on a diet that's not working.

    FMD2 - 2-2
Yesterday was a protein day. This morning's weigh in showed another small .2 drop. I'm happy with any number that doesn't go up, so yay for today.

Everyone says they hate these two middle days, but I'm not finding them bad at all. Maybe because its not all that different from P3 (except no fruit). I replace the breakfast meat with a pea protein-greens smoothie (much better this week with rhubarb lime and ginger), and motor on from there. When I want something sweet, I have rhubarb. Its working fine for me.

It's really hot here this week. I was planning to do some shoveling in the garden as my strength training exercise, but it's too brutally hot out, so I did nothing yesterday. I'll have to figure out something for today, maybe incline my healthrider to the max and just do an indoor workout.

Loss: .6 to 149 and now solidly in the normal BMI range. *does normal BMI happy dance again* So the loss from the two protein days was .8. Not as dramatic as last week's nearly 4 pound loss. But what seems to be significant is that I've had a bit of loss each day this week.

Off to enjoy my breakfast of butternut squash with walnuts on sprouted toast, and a grapefruit. I'm planning to try some black rice today. It just sounds intriguing, and apparently it is nutrient power-packed.

That is GREAT! But Phase 2 really isn't like Phase 3 of the hcg diet because of the fat issue. that's why I hate it. LOL It's more like P2 without the fruit.

I haven't been missing the fruit on part2 because I have the rhubarb, which I just use like a tart applesauce on everything (I'll be dipping my chicken tenders in it tonight), or have it for dessert. The lemon or lime ice thing just doesn't do it for me. But if the rhubarb wasn't on the unlimited list, I would be feeling way deprived on part2. And even part3...because there is no fruit at dinner for that phase. Although tonight I'm using coconut manna as my fat and having it for dessert as lemon truffles. mmmmm

    FMD2 - 3-2

Well. After one day back in part 3, I've gained 1.6 pounds. I have to put away my normal BMI dancing shoes yet again. Trying to keep perspective though. I'm still in my window, and still .6 below my start weight.

Not sure what to make of that. Maybe things aren't quite kicking in for me just yet. Now I'm afraid to even try the sweet potato.

Looking at yesterdays menus, the new thing I had yesterday was hemp milk I made myself for one of my fats. So maybe its that. Hemp is a seed, and I seem fine with sesame and sunflower seeds so assumed hemp would be fine as well. Also had beet greens, but I wouldn't think that would be suspect. I did have black rice (which was excellent btw), but I don't react to brown rice.

Last week I had the same thing... a 2# gain after the first part 3 day. Is it possible its just the the carb sensitivity still at work and not a particular food sensitivity?

Leez, Trim Healthy Mama would say it's because you had starch and fats in the same meal. That's why if I do FMD again, I will NOT do rice or any other grain on P3. I'll try sweet potatoes but that's as far as I'll go. So it's hard to say what's up here. Lyn-Genet from The Plan would say that kind of gain is from a sensitivity but it's hard to know exactly what is wrong.
