You are welcome. It usually takes me 2 days to reach ketosis. That includes the FFF(or other CD) day I do first. So I do I day FFF, then 1 day fat fast and the next morning I am in ketosis. Then I do 1-2 more days of fat fast. Usually I drop 5+ pounds. Now I usually gain 2 back immediately upon resuming my sugar free gluten free diet. But otherwise I am stable until I eat out again. I am so careful when I eat out but it almost always seems to make me gain. I am planning 1 more round of hcg then I am probably going to do "the plan" that grammy recommends and then I plan to check out Trim Healthy Mama(also recommended by grammy) for maintenance.

Okay, I fixed fitness pal with xylitol. xylitol basically has no carbs in it what-so-ever. I then went back into P3 and checked all my fat and carb numbers. I have been in ketosis and yet I don't lose weight on it. And I praise Atkins cause I used to do his diet in the past, but also worry about constantly fixing or correcting through Atkins/ketosis cause of what Grammy says about low carbs intake and tanking your thyroid. Paleo also is against Atkins cause of the strict low amount of carbs. As far as a correction day, this would be good. But to keep doing it, I am wary. Some bodies may go into ketosis in 2 days, but not every person or body or situation is the same unfortunately

BUT what bothers me the most is that I have been in ketosis and no my weight does not go down. I admit I didn't limit my calories to 1000 which I will not do cause that will cause the vicious cycle of limit calories that got me to mess up my metabolism in the first place. So my numbers show of no counting calories which is the premise of the Atkins and Paleo diets anyway (along with Grammy and others on here too). Here are my numbers to give ideas:

    Date Calories Fat Carbs
    Aug 5 1677 133 28
    Aug 6 2481 194 41
    Aug 7 1891 134 28
    Aug 8 1985 129 15
    Aug 9 Steak Day
    Aug 10 Correction Day again
    Aug 11 2070 144 22
    Aug 12 1558 167 28

And yet, I still had weight gain, steak days to do, etc. So I am not sure if I could do this Fat Fast for 2 days as a correction day in place of steak days. Cause I obviously done something similar with loads of fat and protein and super low carbs and yet that ketosis didn't work for me. The only difference is that I didn't limit my calorie intake.

Also glycogen storage reserves happen when you do take in a lot of carbs especially starchy kinds. And glycogen holds onto 4 molecules of water. If you eat a lot of starcy/carbs, your body starts to retain water due to the glycogen which Atkins mentions about. To get rid of glycogen, just starve yourself so your body is forced to use that energy reserve for the glucose for your brain and there goes water. Weight drops next day. You can do this with a steak day, apple day, yogurt, high fat day or whatever day cause they all follow the same premise-- eat a limit amount, your body burns whatever fuel you have, and water pisses out *lol* And there is your sudden drop in weight. So I think as long as you eat lots of fat or protein and limit carbs, you are going to use up those reserves especially if you do limit your calorie intake.

Sadly for me, it is not working LOL Probably because I do not have carbs nor starchies nor sugar nor dairy nor nuts. And I have no clue why my weight is not going down.

Wow, you do limit carbs. I usually end up around 75 carbs on a regular eating day. Maybe that is your problem because if I go too low in carbs, I will gain. I think the fat fast was developed for people who dont lose in nutritional ketosis. It is sort of a kick start plan. I dont really gain if I dont eat out. I think what makes me gain is the high salt content of the restaurant food. So it is a choice I make when I am tired of cooking. Also it is possible you are eating too much protein. I have been reading that excessive protein is sometimes stored as fat. So I am careful to stay between 100-125gms a day. But we are all different.

Honestly, sweetie, I did not mean to limit my carbs. I thought I was getting around 75 grams cause that is where Grammy said it was good to be at, but now that I fixed the xylitol issue and checked back with the numbers, I am shocked they are low. Yeah! I think you are right that could be my problem Yeah, salt and restaurants are not a good combo. That and sneaky sugars in foods too. Yeah, and I have been worried about the protein numbers too. They are high. I have read something similar to that too about too much protein will have be stored as fat.

Gee, thank you so much Ginger. Talking about all of this possibly just shone light on the problem issues for me. I can't thank you enough for helping out. I would definitely do this fat fast day after a big carbo/starchy/sugar cheating day. But like I said above, I am not cheating (not yet that is). So thank you for helping out. I will crank up my carbs and lower the protein.

Ginger: For my cheesecake, I'm going to use this recipe:

    16 oz. cream cheese
    4 tbsp sour cream
    3 eggs
    2 tsp vanilla
    truvia to taste

Mix all ingredients & bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.

I'll be doing 2 straight fat fast days, so I'm going to make the whole cheesecake and just eat half one day and half the next.

    Calories: 1,936
    % fat: 84.42

    That's for the entire recipe.

I may try this for an upcoming fat fast day next week or the week after:

    Fried avocado:

    2 avocados
    2 eggs
splash of milk (dairy, coconut, almond, etc.)
    1/3 cup coconut flour
2 tablespoons grated parmesan or romano cheese
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    salt and pepper to taste
coconut oil for frying (or oil of your choice)

    DIRECTIONS:

Cut your avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pit. The key here is to cut bigger chunks so they are easier to handle when frying. Turn the halves horizontally and make 3 slices per half. You should get 4 chunks per avocado half. Also, make sure to peel the skin. Set the chunks aside.

In a bowl, whisk your eggs and add a splash of milk. Whisk to combine. In a separate bowl or plate, combine the coconut flour, grated parmesan/romano, garlic powder and salt and pepper.

Dip your avocado chunks into the coconut flour mixture, then the egg mixture and then back into the coconut flour mixture. So you are dipping each piece 3 times.

Once all the avocado chunks are well coated, pour your oil ( a few tablespoons should do the trick) into a skillet over medium heat.

Fry your avocado in small batches until golden brown on all sides. The avocado browns very, very quickly (within seconds!) so it’s important to only put a few pieces at a time in the skillet.

**If you leave the milk out, it comes to 1,110 calories and 83% fat**

Thanks! I may try it next fat fast day. Probably eat half and give my husband the other half since he loves cheesecake.

Thanks for this. I love avocado but never thought of frying it. Best of both worlds!!!

I'm considering doing 3 fat fast days next week. Cheesecake the first day, avocado the 2nd day, then cheesecake again the 3rd day I think the avocado might break it up.

I am going to try this again tomorrow, but with correct numbers and such. It is hard to do cause I can't really have dairy. I can probably do heavy whipping cream because there is barely any lactose or casein in it. So that will help tomorrow. But I have a question: Would salmon be okay to eat? It is a fatty fish, but it does have protein. Will there be an issue with that for a meal?
