Thread: Fat Fast - Phase 4

  1. #25
I don't think having salmon would be a fat fast day; however, if you only eat salmon or other proteins all day, it would be a high protein day for you. It usually helps people lose at least 1 lb. It's worth a shot! You could also try the fried avocado I posted. You don't have to use any milk if you don't want to. Just eggs, coconut flour, seasonings & avocado

It is a fatty fish, but it does have protein. Will there be an issue with that for a meal?
I think as long as you are with in the macros you should be ok . Make sure you weight and track everything . Also look my menu ( is one of the first posts) I did really good that day and I did eat any lactose other than soft goat cheese that I got at Costco

Thanks for the tip. I decided not to have the salmon. I always do a protein day so I really want to try out this fat fast thing correctly.

Thanks Alexa!! I am using all the info in your post and your sample menu including the one I found here:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...thkey=CNKEkucJ

For breakfast so far: I have done something similar to cocoa crack. It was just a tbs of coconut oil, a tsp of cocoa powder, some xylitol and 1/4 cup of crushed walnuts. Tasted yummy but my body did not like it. Been nauseous for 3 hours. I just can't eat so much oil. And I know sooner or later, bathroom time is going to come. LOL But I am sticking to this to see if it works for me.

For lunch now: I am making the fried avocado. Thank you for the recipe!!

LOL I know for a fact it is the oil. I have had xylitol many times during the day and on many days and during many months with no issues. And I have had a lot more xylitol in a protein shake or hot cocoa or coconut flour cookies than in the cocoa crack I made. But as soon as I eat a lot of coconut oil, it runs right through my system. It always has been this. This is why greasy foods causes me IBS.

By the way, the fried avocados were amazing. The only down side to them was that I used only 1 and a half of an avocado and yet that was in itself 251 calories. Each meal according to Atkins is suppose to be between 200-250. Now when you add in the coconut oil to fry which took 2 tablespoons cause the oil quickly dissipated from the pan (I believe the coconut flour absorbed it since the flour is well known for absorbing liquids), then that added another 200 calories. This meal alone is way over what Atkins suggested.

maybe just use one avocado and that should help or use less coconut flour to absorb less fat. This is too rich for my tastes. Coconut oil tastes way too greasy for me wish I liked it

Yeah, I will definitely have to now. Was just following the recipe that was posted on the last page or so and wanted to give everyone a heads up here of the recipe. So guys be careful with the fried avocados with going over calories

Figure to give an update on what happened. I took in 1,272 calories and fat was 138 grams of it. Carbs were 25 grams. I lost 1.6 pounds. I guess it is a good correction day if steak days don't work for you, but when I do a steak day I lose either 1.6 to 2 pounds. So I would prefer to do a steak day. It is a lot easier to do than the fat fast since there is a lot less prepping of food and less with making me sick with all the oils during the day. If I could have dairy then I would gather doing a fat fast would definitely be more delicious! But until that time, I will stick to steak days.

Thanks guys for teaching me how to do this Fat Fast day

If you have the fried avocado, you should split it up throughout the day. The recipe that calls for 2 avocados is right around the amount of calories you're supposed to have in the entire fat fast day. If you do the entire recipe, you would basically just eat the fried avocado all day Good job with the 1.6 loss!

    Hey Guys,

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question (mine usually are) but can someone tell me the point of the Fat Fast Day? Are we just using it as a correction day? Or are some people using it as a method to maintain by doing it every week or every so often? Or Is this just a way to lose additional weight in Phase 4? I've heard some people say they do a steak day or other correction day first, then a fat fast day, or sometimes 2 fat fast days in a row. I'm just confused as to what promoted these days?

Yes, yes, and yes. People use it in all the ways you named. You can google and find fat fast was originally from Dr. Atkins. Dr Atkins diet people and other low carbers use it sometimes to jump start their weight loss.

I see! I thought about doing one today if I had gained from Thanksgiving but I didn't really gain. I was so excited when I stood on the scale this morning! Really only did moderately bad for me yesterday, considering I usually eat really clean. Had Turkey and mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole. Skipped the obvious cheesy carbs that I usually load up on Had a few bites of everyones desserts probably equally one full dessert but still only gained 0.2 this morning!! I'm still playing with how to stay at my weight in phase 4 so I read about this fat fasting and am kind of thinking of it for a way to help out. I've also been reading about Fast Metabolism Diet which I know a lot of people do here too. I just didn't wanna have to do another "diet" after this. You know?
