Hi ladies! Finally had time to stop in for a bit and read the last few pages. All the talk of pizza and avocado pudding made me hungry and I just had breakfast! So many things I'd like to try but for whatever reason I don't seem to get to it. I need to spend more time in the kitchen and become more adventurous in my cooking/baking. I tend to cook and eat the same things over and over. Maybe it's somewhat of a blessing though because it might be harder to keep my weight down if I was making yummy things to try? DH is basically a meat and potatoes kinda guy. He fends for himself a lot of the time because he gets home later than I do. We'll throw some meat on the grill on the weekend and make a few meals out of it during the week. I'll eat steamed veggies or a salad with mine and he'll cook some tots or fries to go with his. It's very easy for both of us, but definitely not gourmet cooking to say the least!

How wonderful to run a 5K - and in under 30 minutes too! I was running some last year and ended up with plantar fasciatis and a constantly swelling knee. That was a good excuse to put my running shoes away and baby myself. I'm ready to try it again now. Hopefully it will be easier after losing 32 pounds.

I shared my latest blood results with Grammy yesterday in another thread. Still working on my thyroid, but the big news for me was that my triglycerides dropped 181 points down to 95. That's well within the desired range. I'm really happy about this because it shows that the inside was improving along with the outside since I began this journey in January. What a tremendous blessing it was to find a doctor who would listen to me, prescribe and monitor me on the HCG protocol, and know enough about thyroid/hormone issues to get me on the right track. And then finding this site and all you wonderful people was the sugar-free icing on the cake! lol

Ellyn: I'm sure you'll be back down in no time! I try to remind myself of how I felt when I was heavier. I was out of breath, out of shape, didn't like how I looked, etc. Now, I'm happier, healthier and don't get out of breath just from walking to the car lol

Sass: Sugar free icing...mmm!! Glad to hear your triglycerides are down! Woohoo!!

Ellyn: Thanks for the compliment It can become a slippery slope! Once you start eating one thing, you think "well, I already ate that, so I might as well eat this..." It's hard to stop once you've started. That's why I give myself the weekends as a "break" then get back at it during the week.

AFM: I did a partial egg day yesterday. 7 eggs and 4 small pieces of banana bread. Lost 1.6, so now I'm only 0.2 above my LDW. I'm hoping it'll just keep going down - at least another pound or so. I'm satisfied though. My "female" appt. went well yesterday. She asked me if I plan on having children (and said she asks all her patients this when they get close to 30). I just told her probably, but not for a few years. Makes me feel old though! lol
You are not old! I had my first daughter when I was 36 and my second 6 days before my 39th birthday. My bff just had her 4th baby 8 weeks ago and she is 41.5. The risk is higher after 35 but you still have plenty of time

How do you do an egg day? 7 eggs does not seem like a lot.

Thanks Sassifrass! I also have some issue...calf strain, ankle impingement (both), knee swelling (had acl reconstruction 11 years ago), neck pain. I'm a mess lol...but I keep going. Losing the weight has definitely helped. I started with the "ease into 5k" app. Its a great way to get started again if you are interested. Happy to hear your triglycerides are down!

AFM steak day was a huge success! Down 3.3lbs today . Still 2lbs above LDW but under 150 again. I am doing fffage day and hoping that will bring me down 1lbs. TOM is still visiting and I still have a little swelling in my ankles so I think I will come down a little more over the next couple days.

I agree with the slippery slope. Around the holidays I sort of hit it. A little nibble here, a little nibble there and the scale stayed the same, so I ate more and then my clothes started fitting differently and I felt puffy and bloated and yucky...then the 4lb gain came. I started this HCG round soon after. I don't remember which diet plan I was on but they told me that when I started feeling out of control to start yelling "NOOOO" in my head. It works...it makes me focus on yelling NO rather than eating LOL. Then I ask myself if its really worth it. If it is, then I eat it but I usually just walk away. This weekends Easter candy binge was because of migraine and TOM and I didnt feel like fighting it. I have to eat carbs when I have a migraine...I don't know why but I have to listen when I have one and TOM just makes me so darn hungry! Thank goodness I know what to do to get back on track quickly.

bugs: Glad you're down from the SD!! Woohoo!! An egg day is 8-12 eggs and nothing else. Some people make deviled eggs, use SF mayo or relish but I just stick to scrambled eggs. It's not too bad and gives me about the same results as a SD does.

Thanks Pro! This is good to know...I don't like steak lol. I am hoping I wont have to do another steak day or egg day or yogurt day...but I'll do an egg day over a steak day any day!

I LOVE steak, but hate steak days, if that makes sense lol I can't shovel down a pound or more of steak all at once. I usually end up getting sick. Eating eggs all day isn't nearly as bad!

Me too! I love steak, but hate steak days! I think it is the not eating anything until dinner that I hate! I should try an egg day, then I could eat something throughout the day.
Has anyone ever tried eating the steak throughout the day instead of just all at once? Does it change anything?

I did a steak day on Monday but with ground beef because I just cannot get myslef to pay the high prices for a steak right now...I LOST 3 WHOLE POUNDS! That is the most I have lost on one steak day-ever

I don't really care for any meat. I like fish...is there a shrimp, lobster Or crab day lol? Oh that's the other thing...a steak day cost as much as two meals for my whole family! Eggs are cheaper. Alaskamom, I have wondered the same thing...What would happen is I divided Up the steak and ate it through out the day?!?!

Well it's official! I am crazy! I have signed up for a 2 day running relay race on a team of 12. I think it's 200 hundred miles total and each person runs 3x anywhere from 3-8 mile legs. It's next year so I have plenty of time to train but I never thought in a million years that I would even consider it...let alone having someone want me on their team! In school I was always the 2nd to last picked to be on a team.

Thanks for the wake up call, Alaskamom. I needed that. I ended up having a little pizza and a little ice cream cake at my son's party tonight after all because I didn't get online today. I was too busy helping my daughter all afternoon and making ice cream cake! That is ridiculously time consuming, BTW, and I wouldn't recommend it. I was down this morning and except for my lousy dinner, I ate clean at breakfast and lunch.

Thanks for being good role models for me, and for talking to me more than once a month, like my doctor does. His reset advice is good and I will apply it:

Exercise does not work to control your weight. Only wise food choices can do that.

Go back to the first week of maintenance diet for 1 week: only meats, vegetables, and fruits, no grains, starches, sugars, dairy, or nuts. That should get you back to your final HCG weight.

Then add new foods slowly, one at a time. Identify the triggers that cause you to gain and eliminate them.

Remember also to plan your meals in advance and drink plenty of water, and of course weigh every morning and intervene the next day if your weight is up.

Gals, don't give up on me. I just need to deal with the realization that I can't make cake and eat it too. I've got to figure out new favorites and make those, not old ones I can't resist. I can't get so busy I forget to plan. That's why I had pizza with the family and didn't make my own meal. When I was on P2, I always knew what my next meal would be and planned accordingly. I need that mentality again. Please keep holding me accountable. Point out to me what I cannot see. I really haven't accepted that I have a sugar addiction. I wonder how many people who end up with diabetes were in denial about their sugar addictions until it was too late. I won't let that be me. My mother and several siblings have it and I shouldn't be screwing around with the stuff.

I feel strangely optimistic tuning in here, even to be told I'm on a slippery slope. I can get off it, if I can recognize it and see how others get off it and stay off it.

Wow, Alaskamom, a 3 lb loss!! That's amazing and isn't it good to see yourself back in control? I remember a few weeks ago the stress you felt and deciding to give FMD a try. I think it did some good even though it was hard and didn't feel good for your body.

Hbugs, a relay race sounds really fun and good for you signing up. LOL, thank goodness it isn't tomorrow and you have time to build up to that. It will be fun for us to "see" your training progress and how you build up to this event. It sounds like something I would have done years ago. I still have dreams that I'm running and it's such a good feeling and brings back fond memories of when I used to.

Abs, I'm so glad you weren't offended by my wake up call. It's a fine line between being helpful and lecturing someone and I always worry it's the latter. You have a group of ladies who will always be supportive of you and we know you know what needs to be done. You are so right about planning out your food day each day. I, too, do much better when I have it planned out. We're all confident you are going to do just fine

AFM: I had the dental appt from HELL yesterday!! So glad it's over. After years of border line gum disease, I saw a holistic dentist last fall as my conventional dentist was only treating symptoms and not the cause. I did a dental material compatibility test, contacted my previous dentist for a list of what materials were in my crowns and found out I'm allergic to the crowns materials. After years of brushing, flossing, Water Pik everyday with little improvement I made the decision to have 9 crowns removed (over 4 visits), have any remaining mercury fillings removed and replaced with temps until new crowns made with compatible material are ready. Yesterday, I had 3 crowns removed, mercury removed from 2 of the teeth. I was there 3 hours and couldn't wait to get out of that chair lol! I have already had the upper right done and what a world of difference! So, my uppers are done and now to do the lowers. The costs? A nice wedding! Insurance doesn't cover replacing incompatible material crowns as they feel symptoms can be controlled by antibiotics so no need to treat the cause. I didn't eat for most of the day and ended up eating too much late in the day so I'm up 1 lb today. Not surprised but I'm on it today!

Alaskamom: 3 pounds from a ground beef day??? Holy cow! How did you eat it? Did you season the meat? Do tell!

Ellyn: Sorry you had a bad day at the dentist, but it's over now! And hopefully the new dentist will be able to help.

Abs: We won't give up! But don't give up on yourself either

AFM: I'm up today. 128.2, so 1 lb. over LDW. I'm making it a P3 day. Normally I can drop at least a pound by doing this. Maybe I'll try alaska's ground beef day on Monday

Alaskamom: 3 lbs from ground beef is great!

Ellyn: That sounds absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! How many appointments do you have left? At least you are feeling better (or your mouth is ) I think it is ridiculous that insurance would prefer to pay a portion of the antibiotics needed to control the gum disease rather than pay a portion to correct the problem! That is just craziness!

The relay should be fun and yes very happy I have time to train...although it gives me a lot of time to think about what I have committed to as well! 200 miles in 2 days...eek! I think I am most worried about running at 2am in the dark! Who knows what is out there...waiting for a midnight snack!

Abs: That's what this forum is for...we will keep you on track...just don't disappear!

Good luck on P3 day Pro!

AFM: down .9 today. I sort of did fffage day yesterday but couldn't take it anymore at dinner and ate a large salad and some chicken. Steak day was a 3.3lbs loss and semi-fffag day was a .9lbs loss. 4.2lbs in 2 days but still 1.1 above LDW, which is fine but the scale says 149 exactly. I don't like 149, I would prefer 148.9 lol. So today I am doing a P3 day as well and sticking to mostly eggs. My clothes are loose...and I fit into a size 6 skirt, so I am wondering if I should go with my adjusted LDW because I have built up some muscle and might weigh a little more now. LDW is 147.9. My adjusted is 148.3. Not much but I am seeing 149 a lot lately. Thoughts?
