Me too! *waves all the good thoughts in the direction of the scale...*

Be careful what you wish for. When TOM finally stopped for me after a horrendous year of last hurrahs, I was so glad. And so naive to think the misery was finally done.

Now I would take it all back if I could exchange it for the hot flashes. At least I would have a couple of normal weeks in between the TOM floods. With hot flashes...there is never any relief time. Its all day all night all the time. And I have to face the possibility that they will never abate.

However.... I can't report this as a trend yet...but just maybe I am sleeping a little better since starting THE PLAN. At the very least, stopping all drinking before 7:30 makes for fewer night time bathroom trips. Though I'm still awakened by the hot flashes during the night, I seem to be able to get back to sleep a little easier.

I know what you mean. The pun just made me laugh is all, and it was needed.

I have had night sweats for some time now. I don't get them in the day very often. But at night sometimes I can wake up just drenched as if I had sat in the hot sun for awhile.

Near my TOM I can get sick. Almost flu like sick. I have mentioned this too doctors, but I guess its not out of the ordinary, or I don't know. This has been happening for the 5 years or so now. So yes for me I am ready for the 12 months without menstruation, and get on with menopause lol.

I know that was off Topic, but I have followed a lot of your journeys, trying to figure out my own demise with the weight gains.

Having night sweats and still having to endure TOM is just too cruel....you have my deepest sympathy. I would have those flu symptoms with TOM sporadically too--it was definitely connected. I wonder what its about. Prostaglandin release, maybe. I used to start taking ibuprophen at the first sign of TOM and that seemed to help.

New Protein Test Results - Lamb
    Gain: .6

Well, I guess that's pretty definitively a fail on the lamb. No butternut squash or other iffy items to cloud the result this time. I was really careful to keep things as exact as possible to eliminate variables. I will miss lamb. Its the only red meat I really liked. *ceremonially waves farewell*

Logically, this also means the egg is now a definite fail as well, since squash was apparently not the villain. Or at least the main one.

Was the lamb rare? That is usually less reactive.

It was probably more medium rare. I don't like the soft texture of totally rare meat. To make it the most digestible, I made the lamb burger recipe from the book and did it on the foreman grill. It was grass-fed New Zealand lamb that I ground myself.

that should have been okay then. So unfortunately it seems to be a fail. What proteins have you tried so far?

So far, lamb (twice now) and duck egg. My only friendly animal protein is chicken. Chickpeas are still on the suspicious list. So I just have chia, sunflower, pumpkin seeds and almonds as other protein sources. (And broccoli, but who can eat enough of that for protein.)

So you haven't tried any seafood or even beef yet. How did you eat the duck egg? If you didn't try it with the yolk soft, you might try an egg that way.

The yolk was soft- it was thick but still oozed out on my salad. (Runny egg on a warm salad is pretty wonderful.) I suppose another option is to just test whites.

I'm kind of wondering about trying a protein bar instead of testing another meat. I have one that is only pea protein, sunflower seeds and some coconut palm sugar, which seems like it could be PLAN friendly. Its 15 grams protein. I could do it at lunch and skip the chocolate that day to account for the sugar. If I could have a protein powder choice, that would make things a lot easier while all this testing drags on. Especially if I have to be out for the day. Since I've been ok with dairy pre-plan and am ok with half&half in my coffee now, a whey protein bar might be another option.

At anyrate, I don't have to decide today. I think I need a few loss days before I'm up for testing anything else. I feel like I will need to lose 2-3 pounds to feel safe to test again, since I keep failing them.

    Friendly day8 result:

    Loss: .4

That's a relief. I need about 5 more of those scale drops. On to another friendly day today and more carrot soup. I'll probably do day 3, which is my next most reliable friendly day.
