I think I'm going to like it too, but I have a question for you right off the bat:

So for your E meals, do you use the tsp of fat? Or do you keep fat and starch completely separate? I actually felt really naughty adding that bit of chia seed to my oats today. But I could easily go without it.

I don't add it but in the new book, Pearl recommends it to help blunt the spike from the carbs. I paid for a membership for their website and there's lots of helpful info there too. I went to a new doctor who changed up my meds some and I gained 10 pounds, darn it. But I've dropped 5 of them on THM. I could have done a round of hcg but that seemed overkill for 10 pounds and I wanted to try this out. It's great for stabilization too because you just add crossovers and S helpers.

Wow. I would be totally mad at that doctor. My gosh...we work SO hard to keep weight off, and then they want to mess with things. You have to be so careful.

My doctor just recently tried to prescribe Duavee (basically the new Premarin) for my hot flashes. He gave me some samples...when I researched it, the info I found said its a COMMON side effect to gain 10-40 pounds. I said no thank you and gave the samples back. I'd rather have the hot flashes.

I guess I'll see how I do with the bit of fat in the oats. I've always found that oat/fruit breakfast plenty filling. I'll probably just leave it out, since I get some fat in my coffee with half&half anyway. That's a good point about the spiking. But its not something I would be testing anyway.

I need to order some of the gelatin in the collagen hydrolysate form. I only have the regular kind. I've been reading about it, and it seems its a better way to go in regards to how your body uses it.

Well, I actually feel better with the thyroid med and hormones adjusted. It just messed with my weight for a bit. But it's all good! I think you should try bioidentical hormones but SEPARATE. It's crazy to put them in one tube. That doesn't work right at all.

I have the gelatin for my bulletproof coffee but I rarely use it.

It's wonderful that you had a good outcome and can actually lose the extra weight. With my history, I would probably get to keep it.

With the bad experiences I've had so far, I'm not anxious to try BHRT again any time soon. However, we do have a compounding pharmacy in town that holds classes periodically, and I think they do provide BHRT prescriptions inhouse. I might explore that more, and I'll definitely ask about separate dosing. But I doubt my insurance would cover any of it, so thats a consideration if it turns out to be really pricey.

Most insurance makes you pay for it first then you get some back. But it's the only way to go for real health unfortunately. I was on all the other stuff for 30 years and just gained and gained and gained. You never did BHRT properly though.

Our insurer refused to pay totally. And its a federal plan. *well that probably explains it... *

I've just been hoping that I'll eventually get through it and be done. Its been 6 years...so thats not unreasonable, right? But I know some people have them forever. I can't help but wonder if I'm a winner in that lottery.

You could try some homeopathic remedies. There's a really good one my naturopath uses called Chi-F. http://www.assertivewellness.com/Chi-F_p_26.html

I've tried so many concoctions to no avail. It would be wonderful to find one that worked. I'll check it out.

    So this is very interesting:

Yesterday, and ate THM style as close as I understand it at this point, with 1 E meal, 2 S meals and a FP snack. Non-tested foods: oats, greek yogurt, cabbage, rhubarb, mixed berries. I drank coffee with cream all day long and added salt to stuff. I did not chug water all day. I would have thought that just the change of adding more salt would give me a weight bump for a couple days.

    However...

I'm down a whole pound this morning. I have no idea what to make of that. But I like it. My temp is still high too.

Maybe I won't have to do that steak day.

    Leez, that is terrific!!!!

I have to ask though if you drank coffee with HWC ALLLL day, meaning within 3 hours of your E meal. Have I been depriving myself?? ? I always follow the 3 hour rule on my coffee so if I have an E breakfast I have coffee with stevia and gelatin only (occasionally I will add a TBS or so of unsweetened almond milk). Not as good as with mct oil and HWC but I have that later in the day after an S meal.

Yes. All day. I didn't pay any attention to timing on the coffee. I use half&half. I drank it with and after my E meal. I added chia seeds to my oatmeal, so there was some additional fat there. Hmm. So that was apparently a mistake. I'm sure I made other mistakes yesterday too.

For me, if this is going to work long term, it can't mess too much with my coffee! I don't drink tons of half&half....the most would probably be about 2 oz per day. I just use enough to bring the coffee color up to a dark caramel. Just enough to cut the acids and smooth out the flavor.

Seriously, I'm feeling like I just got out of jail. You could only drink coffee in the morning on THE PLAN.

I think its time to start a new thread for THM.

You can have a "swirl" of half and half in your coffee even with an E meal. But if you had very much, that could mess with your losses long term. It sounds like maybe you only have that swirl though, Leez. Glad to hear you're down a pound!
