The flaxseed absorb water and until they make their way through, I always have some of those same issues. Once they make their way out, then all is well. I would not call anything you had a negative test and you continued to lose so I think all is well.

That's a relief. Glad to hear that my body is just acclimating to the flax seed and not reacting to it. That was a big concern going into this since it seemed I was reacting to flax (although the meal form) in my other testing.

Plunging on into day 2. Another couple of pounds and I'll be back in safe territory again. That will do wonders for my preferred state of hopeful optimism, which was beginning to disappear when FMD wasn't bringing me back down from the part3 gains.

I'm liking all the food so far, and its keeping me satisfied. That is totally different from any other "cleanse" I've ever tried.

Do you think I have to test cranberries, raisins, or coconut flakes before adding them to my granola? It seems like you don't since you can order the flax granola online, and the Plan one has fruit in it. She only mentions not using nuts you haven't tested yet, and doesn't seem to say anywhere that you can't add the above dried fruits in the cleanse breakfasts. (Although, I haven't just to be safe.)

I tested everything first. I never did add raisins or cranberries. I don't like all the sugar. I stayed with blueberries.

Since I posted that, I did find a passage in the book that said any fruit not included in the cleanse menus needs to be tested separately. I also read that even if you pass a food test, if you want to eat a bigger portion of that food, you have to test again. And even if you want to combine with foods that tested safe---yet another test. I foresee endless testing in my future. That is depressing, but o well.

After the cleanse is over, I might try adding in some seeds and coconut on a rest day. But you're right--the blueberries really are enough sweetness, even with unsweetened coconut milk.

I had hiccups after dinner tonight again. I wonder what that's all about. I've been trying to be very conscious about chewing thoroughly and eating slowly. Maybe there's just not quite enough moisture in the recipes for me or something. But hiccups are something I very seldom get, so it is something to note.

O--the thing about water is on her website FAQ: http://lyngenet.com/faq/
Why can’t you drink with meals?

Drinking water with meals dilutes digestive enzymes, which will impair digestion. It also causes you to be prematurely full and we want you to fill up on food so that you aren’t hungry in an hour or two! It is best to wait 45 minutes before and after your meals to have water.
What? That is nowhere in the book that I can see. Apparently a recent development since my book was published (late 2014)

I didn't know you could have dinner after 7:30 either:
When do I need to stop drinking water?

While eating after 7:30 is fine, for optimal digestion and weight data it is critical not to drink water with or after dinner and at least 4 hours before bed.

Yes that deal about not drinking with meals isn't in my book either. I just looked. I wouldn't eat after 7:30 even if it were allowed though. That doesn't even make sense. If having water too late throws off the test the weight of food eaten after 7;30 would too. I also just found a section where she talks about drinking too much is as bad as not drinking enough. I have the digital version so a search doesn't show up stuff that's in one of the boxes like the water thing is.It's page 45 on the digital version.

Cleanse - Day 2 results [almond test]

Yeah, I followed up on some posts I found that referenced the info on the website. And, also, wine is supposed to be ok to drink after 7:30 as long as you have the extra water to counter it before 7:30. The poster said that the water restrictions were amended on the website even before the book was released. <_<
I also found out that L-GR said (reportedly posted on her Facebook page) that those that had a scale with .2 increments could consider a .4 loss as a passing test.

    So in that light....

I'm down .6 . That means that almonds passed the test.

I think I might have even messed up, because my "small handful" was about 20 almonds, which seems to be about twice what others think a small handful means. Maybe my hands are bigger or something. ^_^

That is huge for me. I love almonds and almond butter and have been avoiding them for nearly 3 years. This shall be a happy reunion.

Today will be the last day of the cleanse menus. (And I get to eat almonds again!) I made a new batch of flax granola last night and used the new recipe in the appendix in the back of the book from Columbia County Bread Company. The only difference is basically that you add a bit of molasses to the water you soak the flax seeds in. And the recipe has actual proportions, so that was helpful. It came out a little darker but seems crispier.

That is awesome!!! I'd be careful with almond butter until you test it though because it's usually made from roasted almonds not raw.

I think I'm good--I found some raw almond butter at Trader Joe's. It seriously feels like Christmas to me woo-hoo!

I agree with you on the eating dinner after 7:30 thing. It doesn't make sense. The wine, I can kind of understand being allowed later, since alcohol is dehydrating, so that should level out any weight change.

That 90 minute waterless window seems challenging. That really delays breakfast for me, as I kind of ease into the day, and I don't even get to my lemon water for a while after I get going. I haven't been doing the 45 minute thing and I am still making progress, so I might just ignore the first before-eating water moratorium. Somehow, though, it seems silly. Food combining people tell you that fruit has passed your stomach in a half hour or less, but water needs 45 minutes? I don't get it. I understand it can interfere with digestion after you eat, but the before thing seems wrong.

This is fascinating. I just ordered this book and found and saved the carrot-ginger soup recipe. Soup is my favorite food!

The carrot soup is really good writermama. Adding lots of extra cinnamon and allspice makes it yummy. And what a great tool to have now when we encounter an inflammation flare up.

Colleen, have you made that bulk recipe in the back of the book?

Leez, I'd ignore the water with food thing. I did too. That's great you found raw almond butter! When I get to a city that has a Trader Joe's I'll look for it. What bulk recipe are you talking about? I don't have any bulk recipes in my book. I quadruple the flax recipe though.

The raw almond butter is Trader Joes's brand, and its unsalted. Raw almonds is the only ingredient. Doesn't say organic though. Can't wait to break into that puppy now that I know I can!

The back of my book has a section called "New and Updated recipes", in it is the Columbia County Bread Company flax granola recipe, and also Carrot Ginger soup sized to use a 5 pound bag of carrots, with actual measurements on the spices. ( and 8 others) I wonder if you could email her and get the update that way?

I also found there are updated menus for days 1-20 on the website under the Book dropdown in the top menu. Thats where the 45 minute water thing is emphasized.
