Struggling with P4, Steak/correction days not working

    Hi,

So I am up 10 pounds. Steak days and other correction days seem to have stopped working. Or, I drop 2 pounds and regain it in 3 days.

I honestly don't know how I crept up 10 pounds. But I am going to do a short round to get back down, it's the only thing that works.

So the real question: I need some P4 tips. How can I maintain my weight loss long term? Have you ever heard of people that correction days stop working for? I really am feeling a bit lost. I think I need to be more active, but other than that, I really am stumped as to how to maintain. Leez, can you give me some advice?
    Thanks!

    So sorry this happened!

I personally mostly stay P3 but here some things I do that could help with P4 as well. Are you fine all of P3?

I start with eating just meat and veggies in higher amounts and with more fat, including bacon and avocado. I don't count calories but eat really well.
I add one new food at a time, waiting for 3 days to move to the next, like hard cheese, soft cheese, nuts, etc.
I watch the scale for two days because I have seen a delay in gain the second day often.
I do a steak day immediately the day I am over the 2 pounds allowed over LDW. I don't wait.
I go back to what I ate that could have caused the gain (so I log all my food). Because I go slow and careful, I often know what causes a jump and can then eat it less or less often or not at all. I plan to do with this with carbs this time around potentially as well.

If your round was good with good HCG and no hunger, I think that the above can work really well. I think the key is to do a steak day right away. That said, if you need to do multiple in a row, I don't think they work anymore. I'd probably go back to P3 and see what happens before doing another round.

    Just some thoughts!

I feel your pain, Im up 5 lbs and need help figuring out how to correct from here. On top of this gain, we have Thanksgiving coming up and I do not to even think about more gains. I eat modest for Thanksgiving but the idea of eating period is upsetting to me.

    HI Mrs. Strong and Ncnightowl,

Thank you for joining the discussion.

Mrs. Strong, I am great in P3. No issues. No issues early in P4. It just seems my weight creeps up and even doing an immediate steak day does not drop it. I have tried alternate correction days as well. What seems to happen is I will drop 2-3 pounds on a correction day, and then regain it even being super careful over then following 2-3 days.

Nightowl, I also have had issues in the past where I try stupid things to drop the weight and it doesn't help. I know some people have had success doing a steak/correction day once a week to drop the 5 pounds. HCG Chicka has some ideas if you are at the 5 pound mark. However, I am not the one to give advice since I am up 10 pounds.

I feel like I have figured out 1/2 of the equation, how to lose. Now I just need some help on the second part, maintaining long term.

Hopefully Leez or one of the veterans will join in with some advice for us!
    Have a great day!

Thanks for the support! I have rid my fridge of eggs & cheese; now I plan on going back to just chicken & small cup of veggies for now. I dont know what to do at this point, all of my hard work to lose 12 lbs is slipping away. I plan to do another round right after the holidays, and I want to buy a good quality hcg this time, this past time was a disaster.

It must be something you are eating, rkthin. Or eating too much off. Hopefully, Leez or Coco will chime in soon!

Unfortunately, if steak days are not bringing you back into to your window, its time to raise your LIW number.

No one wants to do that, but even one steak day a week is too many to really stabilize well. Often, what happens when you raise your LIW up some, you find you are very stable at the new number.

I still seem to creep up even with raising my number. My blood pressure, pre diabetes and other health markers are really super at this weight. I am off all those yucky meds. I went on a vacation and went up in weight. That started my upward stretch. I just have to get better at maintenance to make this weight stick, and stop being so lazy about exercise and calorie counting.

Leez, do steak/ correction days work for most people long term? Even at a higher weight I think I hit a point where they just stopped working. I think the longer I stay at the -10 lb weight, the more my body will adjust to being there.

Any ideas you have to creep downwards or any ideas of what seems to help most people stay successful in maintaining?

    Thanks,
    RK

Steak Days stopped working for me a few years ago, due to my slow digestion. What I began to do instead to get back down and stay down is either a total fasting day with liquids only (which can include coffee with sugar or liquid creamer and heavy whipping cream), or the famous "inflammation smoothie" at dinner time after drinking water all day. These combined with an epsom salt bath will give me the same 3-4 lb. drop as a steak days would in the past.

I think steak days do stop working for some after a while. I'm not sure why. I have a sense that it has to do with the reasons for the gains.....the difference between the sensitivity/inflammation gain and the kind of incremental gain that gradually puts you over the limit. For myself, I find if I have a big overnight gain, I'll get a big loss from a steak day. If the gain has been incremental, it will usually be a smaller loss, like a pound or less. You can experiment with some alternate correction days and see if changing it up will make things work better for you.

There are some alternate correction days that have been successful for people that you could try outlined in this article:

Personally I would not do another P2 round right now.... what you need to do is stabilize before going back on P2.... If anything I would go back to P3 and slowly start adding what you think cause your gains.... you also risk immunity....

there can be so many factors...but HCG is not the miracle cure.... it is what you do with what HCG gave you to lock it in....

    Thank you for your replies.

Coco, I will try the fast day/Epsom salt bath if I need it in the future. Thank you for that.

Coco, and Leez, do you have any good advice as to what helps you maintain? I could really use some advice.

Leez, thank you for your thoughtful analysis of incremental gains vs. overnight gains. Yes I think that has been a factor of incremental gains. I also will keep the alternative correction days in mind to see if I missed anything. I also think, and this is hard to admit, but it is the truth, I have been eating far too much fun food and not doing any exercise. I use to be on the daily walking and activity/ exercise life, but fell off that wagon for no good reason...giggle. Just being honest. I now as of yesterday am back to exercising my usual yoga and walking 10,000 steps. I Will add more cardio post P2 this time, instead of becoming a couch potatoe.

Yvonne, thank you also for your reply. Yes sufficient time has passed for me to do a short round. Other diets seem to tank my metabolism, so I can drop this weight and like you said, I have to discipline myself and change my ways to lock in the loss hHCG gives me. That is the new focus for me, a long term success plan.

I’m confident that with the help of the forum I can figure out some reasonable answers. After all, we have figured out one hard part, losing the weight. Now I have to mentally switch the focus to keeping it off once I am where I need to be.

    Have a great day!

    Fondly,
    RK
