This kind of cracks me up because you were so resistant at first to trying it. LOL But I'm thrilled you're thrilled so far! I just love it. And I encourage anyone who wants to try it to also join the big Facebook group.
I think this is becoming a series...haha! As I try to find my way in post HCG maintanance, I've spend time in FMD (Fast Metabolism Diet) and in THE PLAN. Both were good learning experiences.
FMD had enough structure that it was a good choice for me post P3 to help me learn how to manage adding grains and other starches back into my menus without gaining. And the 2-2-3 rotation really did fix my carb sensitivity. I'm no longer afraid to eat starches again now that FMD has taught me how to safely combine them. I didn't actually complete the whole 20 days of testing in THE PLAN (even though I was on it for nearly 3 months). However, I still learned a lot. Happily, I now know that several things I was regularly suspecting really are friendly foods for me, so it opened up some favorite foods again, and I confirmed some problem ones. In the process I tried a few new foods that I will eat again, so it was a good adventure.
However, I was not getting clear enough results to warrant continuing on, and over the three months, I didn't really lose anything. I'm still a bit over LIW. So I made the decision to stop THE PLAN testing for now and I'm going to see if I can take everything I've learned so far and apply it to THM. I may try it again later. But if I redo it, I will not stop and try to figure out inconclusive results, I will just move on. I think that could have been part of my problem with it.
If you are not familiar with Trim Healthy Mama eating, you can check out a pretty detailed overview of it here: THM Overview
But basically, its a free-styling form of FMD. Instead of 2-day blocks of avoiding fats or avoiding grains/fruits&fat, you can mix up those macros parameters as you like within a day (in a slightly different way). Additionally, there is no prohibition against coffee or dairy in THM. So I think its strength (freedom) also has the potential to be a pitfall--since you have so many options.
I have dabbled in using the basic THM principles in the past, but did not have success. After purchasing and reading the book, I found that there are things that you need to understand to make this work. So I encourage anyone considering this way of eating to spring for the book and get your mind around it before starting.
I'm quite jazzed today, actually, because I started with a day of E, S, FPsnack, S meals, and though I'm sure I made some mistakes, I'm still a pound down this morning. And....as a bonus, I had 4 untested foods in my day yesterday (I'm kind of still in THE PLAN mindframe yet....) and a big drop like that is considered a pass for all of them.
I'll update this post whenever I have some thing to report or wonder about, and welcome any other input from those with THM experience or who might be thinking about trying it as well. We can take the journey together.![]()

O yes, I was totally resistant. It was mostly related to buying yet another book, but to be honest the whole "mama" thing kind of turns me off. I am a mother, but I don't like being defined like that. That's just my own hangup--I get that that's where the authors are in their own lives and they want to address the eating issues other mothers face.
btw...I haven't bought the cookbook yet. I'm going to see if I can navigate with the tons of recipes already posted online. Although, the Pinterest board set up drives me a bit crazy--so many clicks to actually get to the recipe instructions. And I had to block their "halt--you can't go there until you register!" page.

LOL> I get the whole "mama" thing. I actually heard about THM about 2 years ago but, like you, the whole "mama" thing turned me off. I don't like the pinterest board setup either. I love the THM cookbook!!!! It is well worth the price IMO!
I think that was an unfortunate title for the book. Tons of men and unmarried women are doing it. Teens too. But they self published that first book and didn't have good advice. That cookbook is hands down the best cookbook I have EVER bought! The Cry No More Brownies recipe made with OKRA if you can believe it, is worth the price alone. LOL

You said "brownies".Now you've piqued my interest. I read about the okra thing and was amazed. But it makes sense the something mucous-y like okra would be good for your gut. I've never liked it, even deep fried. But baking it into a brownie sounds perfect.
I used one of my P3 recipes to add as a Fuel Pull to my E lunch today since I was pretty close to 45 carbs with my chicken breast sandwich. Its the 30 second cocoa cookie I posted in my blog here: http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...l#comment64162 I forgot how good it was.![]()
Do you think it would be better to get the regular book, or is it easier to use the Kindle version?

I made a choco secret big boy smoothie the other day! 1 full cup of frozen okra! It was divine! You dont taste the okra but there were spicy undertones that I am assuming was the okra that made it yummy!
I bought bananas today to make the bust a myth banana cake! Sounds so yummy and I haven't eaten bananas since last Christmas. Figured I would freeze it in single portions for some E breakfasts.
My favorite FP so far is the choco chip baby frap! Going to make one now as I had a light E dinner.
If you get the digital, get the pdf. then you can copy and paste recipes to a file. That smoothie sounds great!

I totally love the cookbook. I can't believe the recipes in there. I bought most of their products as well. They won't arrive until next week.
I am going to start slow with it, and just do the breakfasts for awhile. Plus follow some tips and use their drinks during the day. Those frappas look great. I had done the Good Girl Moonshine before, but this time I have bought the liquid Ginger to put in it.
The crackers and snacks look great as well.
What I really like is none of these recipes are real time consuming and can suit my lifestyle.
I find the sisters funny. Reminds me of my sister and I. I can see the purist way as I believe in good foods, yet I can be a Drive By Sue as well lol.
Well I am glad your doing this Leez and our down a pound.![]()
It sounds like I probably should get this amazing cookbook. I'm already annoyed with Pinterest after one day of looking, and that seems to be where everything is.
I just have to decide whether to get the actual book, or the electronic version. Its about the same price either way. I might go check my halfprice bookstore in town and see if I can get the real book there cheaply. If so, I might get both.
I really don't like to post on Facebook, but I see THM has a beginners group as well as the main one. Maybe I'll join and just not post (much). Haha! I wonder if I could even do that. I used to have a signature line in another group that read "I'm talking and I can't shut up!" That pretty much tells the story. ^_^

the Facebook group is terrific and they post all kinds of helpful things including recipes. That book just came out so not sure if it would be in a half price bookstore yet.

Ok, Grammy an d Leez, I added a a tsp of mct oil to my coffee this morning. I had blueberry cobbler quinoa porridge for breakfast with 2 small slices of lean canadian bacon. I did not add any fat so I figured the mct oil would be on plan. Leez, I also took your advice(from the other thread) and added regular gelatin instead of the collagen hydrolysate and was surprised that it did make it creamier! Thanks for that! I use Great Lakes brand. I have been using the collagen for a year or longer but hadn't really used the regular gelatin for much. I bought them as a set from amazon. Now I have another yummy use for it! THM has it in some recipes so I will be using it there too. Loving this way of eating!
