I'm sorry to report that Ted's first offspring failed to thrive. By evening, it had only increased about 2 inches up the side of the pan. Poor bugs were apparently exhausted. I baked it anyway, just to see how it would come out.

It came out like a brick. And it was so hard and stuck to the pan that I couldn't get it out without digging it out. So needless to say, nothing salvageable remained. I took one small bite just to test the flavor and the second rising had made the dough too sour. Not a complete waste, because I learned a few things. Ted is resting comfortably in the fridge, so no rush. I think I'll wait to try again until I can get some fresh flour.

Last night I also baked the Bust Myth Banana cake for DH to try for breakfast, since it is so full of protein, I'm thinking that will be better than just plain oatmeal. I made a peanut powder warm sauce to pour over it. He loved it.So a definite score there. Now I'm debating whether I want to have a piece of this marvelous looking stuff that has eggwhites in it. hmmmmm....

Probably not a good day. I'm up a big chunk, probably from eating late again. I didn't have breakfast until noon yesterday, which threw the whole day off.

Sorry that Teds first bake didn't work out. Hopefully the next one will be divine.

I had an extreme migraine yesterday. But today is a great day as the pain is gone.

I love that banana cake Leez. Are you terribly allergic to eggs?

The pot roast and radishtoes was yummy. Since I didn't feel like cooking last night we had the leftovers for dinner and it was even better the 2nd day. Tonight will be the egg roll in a bowl(E version) over quinoa that was scheduled for last night.

I will be picking up ingredients today for the Lazy Lasagna for one night next week. Lasagna has always been a favorite of mine.

I made the lazy lasagna (omitted eggs), and it was very good. I had it with a big salad. Next time, I think I'll use ricotta cheese though, because it is substantial enough that you don't need the creamed cheese or eggs to stick it together. I had it twice and gained afterwards both times, so I probably won't do it often.

I discovered after my 3rd HCG round that eggs make me gain. I should have had a clue when I tried an egg correction day and gained ....but apparently I'm a slow learner. I only saw it later when I was having trouble gaining and checked back through the P3 logs for that round. I don't really have any other reactions to them. But every time I test them, I have a big gain (2 pounds or more). That happened again the last time I tested one duck egg while doing THE PLAN.

I did a total E day yesterday, and I'm back down again today, but not as much as I went up. This is starting to become an alarming pattern. Large gain followed by a smaller loss.

But now I'm wanting some S....on to my chia pudding breakfast!

Hello, I've been reading along and decided to order the book and cookbook. I bet I come back with a lot of questions. My weight jumped last year but I'd love a solution besides HCG.

The cookbook is truly amazing. After you work with it a while, you realize that a big part of what it is about is creatively cutting calories/starches/fats in a way that doesn't diminish the enjoyment of the end product. The other part is utilizing super healthy ingredients (actually therapeutic ones) that you wouldn't normally cook with to inject a lot of stealth nutrition. You also get a feel for how to do the same sort of thing with family recipes you love and still want to be able to enjoy and work into your plan.

Today's adventure was going out to get a cheap blender, because I haven't gotten my VitaMix fixed yet, and this week I burned out my backup blender. We're planning to visit a welder on Monday to see if VitaMix can be saved. If not, I will be making a big purchase soon. I miss my VitaMix!

Meals today were S's and an E dinner. Chicken and waffle, with peach compote. Yum! Not enough veggies today, but tomorrow I'll have another opportunity to make good choices.

Rose, you've done great in maintenance.
Leez, I had to replace my old Vitamix and got a $75 one on eBay several years ago. It has the stainless pitcher like my old one.

I've been reading on FB and it looks like most people are cooking for a family. I don't cook as much because it's just me now. I guess that would mean a lot of leftovers for lunch if the recipes are tailored to families. I don't cook much and generally keep it simple. My weight came on last year from eating out with a Guy several times a week. I just didn't keep myself to P4 guidelines. They were my choices do I just want to get myself back on track.

I have a feeling I will be focusing on S meals for awhile as I read and learn.

I got my Vitamix (3600plus model) used from Ebay over 15 years ago, so there is no shame it failing. Supposedly the broken shaft can be welded and I'll be back in business. But if not, I'll be heading to Ebay again. I think that model is running around $150 currently. My house is over 100 years old, so I enjoy using vintage appliances (it just seems right), and those old VitaMixes are workhorses. If someone gave me a new model, I wouldn't refuse it, but I prefer the older one.

Got a cheapo Oester yesterday, so that will hold me until we find out the fate of current VitaMix. And then it will become my back-up blender. It did a creditable job on my baby frappe last night. Until today, I have been using my stick blender as the back-up back-up. That thing has been getting a workout, but really can't pulverize all the fibers out of the okra.

Weight holding today. Which is nice, because I had sliders for lunch, and it was kind of a beef test. I'm so happy I found an egg-free recipe for rolls that can be used with S meals. But what I really need to figure out is what foods help me lose. It used to be Ezekiel bread and beans, but I'm not seeing that effect from them now.

Our anniversary is coming up and DH wants to go to a place that does a smoked prime rib. Doesn't that sound luscious? I wanted to make sure I could relax and enjoy it, hence the trial yesterday.

Last, not all the recipes are for families. There is a section with single skillet meals and single soups. Also single salads and there are a lot of muffin in a mug and bread and cake in a mug recipes. Lots of the breakfasts are single serve as well as some of the sweet bowls. Then there's the all day sippers, shakes, smoothies etc. The crackers and chips and such are multiple but they can also be kept fresh for later. Or reheated to crisp them up days later. It's really a cookbook for all. Some of the entrees I cut the recipe down for DH and I but some I just freeze the leftovers for later. It's a fantastic cookbook.

Leez, Here's hoping you are able to get that vitamix fixed. I have never had one but got a new ninja for Christmas that I love. Have you tried the Swiss bread yet? It can be eaten in all 3 settings and is more substantial than one would imagine! I've only made it in a mug so far but will try making a loaf soon. It sort of changed my mind about whether I can really live without bread like I thought. Plus I have had it twice without a reaction to the gluccie in the thm baking mix so I am hoping that I can start using gluccie again in the recipes. It is supposed to be healthier that the xanthan gum I am using now. My DH continues to do well with thm. He swears that the ggms made him finally get past a stall that he has had for months. I want to try the singing canary soon too.

That is fantastic that you are so much below LIW! Sounds like you already have it figured out!

I love that so many of the recipes in the book are single serve. I like having my stuff made fresh.

I haven't tried the swiss bread yet because it has egg whites in it. I would think it would be a tricky to find a good substitution.

I've been avoiding the GGMS because of the cider vinegar....which causes stomach pain for me even in small dilutions. I tried the Singing Canary, and it was ok...but too sour for me to want to drink more of them. I do like the Shrinker though. I drink it hot and it's my sipper of choice for now. I'm not much of a cold drink person, especially in winter. But if GGMS actually does nudge one on to loss, I might try again and see if I can tolerate it. I imagine the magic ingredient is the ACV, so not much point in doing it without that.

Ginger, I hope the gluccie works out for you, its so useful. I can't do the xanthan gum, so I'm glad I'm ok with glucomannan. I think that you kind of have to get used to the large amounts the THM recipes use. It is a soluble fiber, so it makes sense you might have to build up to it. I threw out a whole bag of Bob's Redmill xanthan gum when I found out is made by culturing bacteria on corn. Shortly after that, I read that BRM is the only xanthan gum that claims it does not use corn to produce the product. :/ But I haven't bought it again since the gluccie works for me.

Leez, celebrate your anniversary! Beef sounds terrific. The good news is that 1 meal a year doesn't give us lasting weight gain. What if you did not weigh for two days to allow any sodium gain to leave your body.

Ginger, what a great review! I forgot to ask at the front desk whether my books came while I was out today. I'll run back down!
Ginger, are you in weight loss mode or maintenance? I watched a Swiss Bread you tube yesterday. I probably don't have all f the ingredients. I'm going slow on buying things though I did pick up a few ingredients over the weekend. No gluccie yet and no baking me so I'm limited but I'd like to keep it simple for awhile and try to lose weight.
Do you have fav GGMS? I'm not a fan of vinegar but I have two bottles, mother and all.

Leez, I am sensitive to egg whites so don't eat eggs very often. I save them more for brunch out, or at least I used to. Thanks for your drink reviews.
