Thread: THM (Trim Healthy Mama) for P4

I only had one new thing: celery. I made the THM pot roast recipe and it called for quite a lot of it. Wow. If celery has been a hidden culprit for me, that could explain a lot, since its called for in so many recipes.

The pot roast was delish, btw. DH was amazed that he like the roasted radishes. I was expecting them to lose their bite, but I was surprised that they also lost all of their pink color. They really do look like little potatos after roasting in the crockpot all day. I guess its a good thing he likes it, since he will be eating all the leftovers now. I think its probably not safe for me to fish out the meat, since it was marinating in the celery all day.
Leez, that just sucks. You have really worked the program and I can't believe the time you spend cooking and baking. You certainly should have a loss to show for the effort. But the good news, she says, trying to cheer up her friend. Is that in some ways it seems you are just maintaining, down a little, up a little so overall it looks as if you are about where you started? Maybe a little lower? So that would mean your body is just resting up from all the weight gain and loss that you have had over the last year and that it will start releasing more weight when it is settled in at a steady weight, sort of like the breaks we take in P4 between rounds on HCG. I have come to think of those P4 times as just as important at the P2, like stair steps, and so important to allow our bodies to heal between rounds. I don't know, just some thoughts, as I have now spent a lot of time on P2-P3 and P4. I know you tended to gain in P4 so even if you can just maintain for awhile, it would seem you are doing better on thm than winging it on your own?

I just started P4 this weekend, so just getting to really try THM although I've had the book for awhile, I'm still trying to get all the information clear in my mind as I run to the book at every meal to check which is S and E etc. i had the cookbook since Nov. but just could not bear to look at those beautiful pictures of food while on P2 so I'll get to try some of the recipes soon.

With today's 2-pound gain, I'm 5 pounds heavier than when I started THM 5 weeks ago, coming directly off THE PLAN.

When I stopped THEPLAN, I was about the same as when I started that program starting it directly from FMD. (During THEPLAN I did get back to LIW for a couple days)

When I stopped FMD, I was about 2 pounds more than when I started it. (During FMD, I got within my LIW window)

So today I'm about 9 pounds over my adjusted LIW from the last HCG round. Thats pretty scary. I don't even want to type the number.

I really want THM to work, but it needs to kick in soon. Doing an all E day today.

You've put so much work into these plans.. you'd think one of them would give you more stable results. Let's hope that THM is just taking some time to kick in. I haven't posted in here much.. I've been following and rooting you on from behind the screen. I hope things turn around soon.

I know i am a little late with this but want to say thanks to everyone for your sentiments over the death of my sister in law. It hit us hard. My husband was devastated at the loss of his only sister. We just found out the week before Christmas that she was ill. She was given 6-8 mos. But the site they put her port for chemo got infected and her body just could not fight it off. She died just 5 mins after arriving at hospice. So we are relieved in some way that her suffering was not prolonged.

I am still getting caught up on things here at home so might be MIA on this thread for a few more days.

I stayed on plan most of my trip. S meals are pretty easy when eating in restaurants. I am so glad to get back to some E meals. My body feels so much better now.

I will get caught up on here later......

Ginger: That is tough and I can okay imagine hard to deal with!

Lees: How frustrating to be going slowly up. Your body is very sensitive I think.

After you E day maybe have some Deep S's. Protein, green veggie and butter. Keep it simple.

Thanks for your E suggestions. I made lean ground beef, rinsed and through in some quinoa, made it spicey with chilli powder ect and some tomato juice and served it over fresh spinach. It was good and lots of leftovers. We ended up going out for dinner last night and I had a peacan crusted chicken breast and arugula salad. It was so good. It also had a pear in there but I didn't eat it.

My waist is down another inch. Scale was down a bit today but basically where I was before Christmas. DH is down 8 from not eating sugar, potatoes and bread. He also has been skiing a lot. We are back to the hill later today.

Colleen: I had insomnia last night and finished your book. As inquiring minds need to know the end! Lol! I loved the message about forgiving yourself as well! Fun read and I am a new fan!

Good suggestion sunshine. I can do a deep S for dinner. Your beef and quinoa sounds good. How great that you are noticing inch loss.

Down just .2 from yesterday. Down is always better than up, no matter how miniscule. I feel very pudgy today though. Not a good feeling.

Leez...i have been following your posts and anguish with the struggles you are having. its so hard to know what is going on. Seems like thyroid or fluid retention might be what is causing it. That is the question. It shows that al of us have to figure out what works and what doesnt Keeping you in prayer You are a trooper to keep trying different things. I try to analyze what im eating and the only thing that pops out is that i eat my main meal mid to late afternoon and breakfast. I dont eat much after 5 pm because im not hungry. If i am i eat a Pure Protein bar

Well, I finally got the courage to weigh today and it isn't good. Up 4 lbs over LIW. I think it is pretty late to try a steak day though since this is the first time I weighed in over a 2 weeks. Plus still feeling that I have inflammation(from traveling???) as my right hip is aching today. So I will just carry on with THM. It seems to work for me eventually. Cross fingers.

Finally got to try quinoa goes cajin on Monday. It was good. Not the most flavorful but we really enjoyed it. Tonight is the swedish meatballs over troodles. Having cab and sausage skillet tomorrow tonight. It is a favorite! Found a dairy free version of the lazy lasagna(really liked this one but way too much cheese) on a blog. Will probably try it soon. I do ok with small amounts of cheese so will probably still put a little mozzarella on top or maybe just a little parm. Going to eat about 3 meals a week from the THM cookbook and leave the rest to the way we were eating before. Plainer meals such as grilled steak, grilled salmon, baked chicken thighs, etc. We actually enjoy that way of eating more but can get in a rut so plan to continue experimenting with the cookbook. Still mostly skipping the cakes, cookies, brownies and candy part though as that is a slippery slope with us. Still will continue to eat the skinny chocolate or crack as we know it here.

Sounds like a great plan Ginger. 4 pounds over LIW would be feeling pretty good to me right now. Its one of those numbers that's distressing but still seems managable. I tried a couple of steak days recently, and though they seemed to work, I gained the loss back right away and more. So I won't be doing that again.

Like you, I'm better off when I don't have a lot of baked goodies around, even legal ones. I mostly make single-serve portions when I want something.

Good idea about the lasagna. I was going to leave out the creamed cheese if I made it again. If you find you like the dairy free lasagna, please link us to the recipe.

I'm down another .2 today, and hoping it will be a trend.

Leez, Crossing my fingers that the downward trend continues for you.

Here's the link for the dairy free lasagna. http://mamashire.com/easy-lasagna-gl...ee-dairy-free/

It's very close to the original just replacing the cheeses with canned coconut milk and mayo and adding nutritional yeast and a couple other things. And some gluccie for thickening the sauce. Not sure when I will get around to making it as I still have a list of recipes to try. The Swedish meatballs that we had tonight was tasty but next time I will make it more like a goulash with just loose ground beef instead of meatballs. Plus I only halved the recipe and both DH and I felt stuffed so we really should not have eaten the whole thing. Lol. Next time I will quarter the recipe.
