Thread: THM (Trim Healthy Mama) for P4

I know what you mean about feeling the weight. I can always tell if I'm going to be happy when I step on the scale. It's usually my fingers that give it away. If my wedding ring is twirling around my finger, I know it's going to be good.

Leez, could the chia itself be a problem? Not just the water it soaked up, but could you be sensitive to it? I'm allergic to many seeds, so I haven't tried it yet. Just wondering if that might be the problem for you. But I'm sure you tested it already.
    Blessings,
    Nicole

Yes, thoroughly tested. I have lots of days eating it that produced a loss the next day. My fingers don't seem to ever swell. I feel it all in my midriff.

Lyn-Genet (THE PLAN) says she doesn't recommend it for anything other than breakfast because of its hydrophyllic properties and effect on the scale the next day. I was aware of that, but didn't think it would result in a 2 pound gain. Guess I know now to avoid that big of a quantity late in the day.

Finally realized that the ggms is irratating to my throat right now. I know the singing canary would be also plus I didn't care for it that much. Anyone tried the other all day sippers?

Remember I thought that turmeric was causing my allergy symptoms? Well early last week, when I got my temporary bridge out and the permanent one in, I awoke the next day to no more runny nose and the bloodshot eyes were also gone! Googling, I found that some people are allergic to the cements used for temporary bridges and crowns. Who knew????

Well I started doing more planning and logging of my THM plan food. Its a pain but hoping it will help me figure this thing out!

Leez, Hope you dropped that water weight from the chia and more!

So I panicked and did a steak day yesterday. I'm glad I did it just to get rid of that bloated feeling, but I also logged a 3 pound loss. So that was very happy news. At least for today.

My plan is to eat sanely today, and gather up the stuff needed to do the PLAN cleanse. I'm hoping that will reset me at a lower number that will be more comfortable as I sort out how to do THM for my body quirks. There are all kinds of mentions in THM articles about what to do if you are a slow loser, but not much written about gaining on THM, so I feel like I'm in a rather uncharted territory. The book doesn't really talk about that.

Ginger, I love the Shrinker, but I drink it hot. Its kind of like a lovey chai tea. I never liked chai tea before, but I think that is because it is usually pretty sweet. I don't sweeten my shrinker at all. Basically, I brew the tea in a cup or so of boiling water in a lidded jar, and then later add in the other stuff. I like it strong, so I add an extra plain tea bag. I use a quarter of my mix in a cup and pour in freshly boiled water.

I wasn't too impressed with it at first, and then I started to add caramel extract. That was a game-changer and made me really love it. I also got extracts for the cayenne and cinnamon because I didn't like having the spice sludge in my cup. I think I'm going to try making my own extracts for those as they are rather pricey and I have some vodka sitting in the liquor cabinet doing nothing anyway.

I didn't care for the Singing Canary (too sour), and my stomach can't tolerate ACV in any dilution, so the Shrinker has been my choice for sippers. I sometimes take some encapsulated turmeric. I should probably do that more often.

I keep a food log on an excel spreadsheet. It does really help you see patterns. Not just of food choices, but of the effects the fuel styles you use each day. If I get a significant gain, I'll note anything that might have been suspicious, and that lets me watch for it when I have it again, and compare results.

I was very surprised to weigh this morning and find that I kept my entire 3-pound steak day loss. That almost never happens for me.

I did an all S day yesterday, with what turned out to be a light S dinner. I made Brianna's Detox Porridge and had it with berries & bacon, but I forgot to put in the coconut oil. It had a cream of wheat or polenta texture except just a little gluey from the flax, and was surprisingly filling even without the added oil. I would make it again.

I didn't get out for supplies for the cleanse yet, but that may happen today. Yesterday's errand run got usurped by an unexpected toilet-buying trip.

Lee, nice 3-lb loss! How was today?

    Ginger, how are you feeling?

I'm thinking about ordering some of the Rise bars. Which do you like best, Leez?

    Nicole

Awesome indeed! That coupled with the brilliant sunshiney day we have going here puts me in a happy place.

My favorites of the Rise protein bars are the lemon cashew and the sunflower cinnamon. They are both from pea protein, and they tend to be softer than the whey protein ones. They also are the ones that use coconut palm sugar to sweeten, which I like. The honey almond kind of reminds me of the bit-o-honey taffy type texture and if you don't get them fresh, they can be pretty hard. I haven't tried the carob chip one.

I've gotten them on Amazon in a 12-pack for about $22 and free shipping. That's about a dollar less a piece than I can buy them at my local Natural Grocer's store.

It should be noted that for THM, none of them are on plan because of the natural sweeteners, but I would consider them a personal choice item to only be used occasionally. If you only eat half of one for a snack, say, the carb grams are within the THM limits, even though the ingredient is off-plan.

Great that you kept that loss! I'm still waiting for my hcg to arrive and I'm going to do a round. THM isn't working fast enough for Hawaii. LOL

Personal choice items are things that Drive Through Sues would eat but a purist would not because the item is more processed even though the ingredients are on plan. If the ingredients are off plan, then the item is off plan. Just so you're clear what a personal choice item really is. This is an area like the fuel stacking that a lot of people don't quite understand.

    Thanks Leez and Colleen!

    What about this: http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make...-kitchn-184306

I was reading lurabar ingredients and thought it had to be easy enough to make since it only has three ingredients. I Googled to see if someone else had tried it and found this page. The nut/fruit combo might not work for any THM mean, though. I'm looking for some healthy options to pack for a trip to Disney (three-weeks from today).

Yeah, all dried fruit is off-plan in THM.

Colleen, thanks for clarifying the personal choice thing. I should have made it more clear that I was talking about my own "personal choice". Even a half a Rise bar is off-plan because of the coconut palm sugar. I'm trying not to think about doing another round. But it may come to that for me too. A Hawaii trip looming is a great incentive though. I'm planning a trip to Florida next month, so hoping to drop at least 5 pounds by then. A pound a week should be doable...but we'll see.

You can actually make a Rise bar with your own sweetener pretty easily (I used xylitol). They are a little softer, so I've found baking them helps and makes them more cookie-like. All you need is protein powder, nut or seed butter of somekind, powdered sweetener, and flavoring. There is a recipe somewhere on the web that I used the proportions from. I might try my next batch with some oat fiber and see if that gives me a good texture.
