The cleanse is going well so far. Interestingly, I lost well after day 2, which had been a no loss day for me before and made me think rice was a problem. Apparently it is not. So knowing that makes me happy all on its own. One more day of this and then I'll regroup and decide whether to continue for a while longer or not.

I saw a number today I haven't seen for a month. Its nice to finally be moving in the right direction.

An interesting THM thought: I read that sometimes a few cross-over meals are helpful in shaking things up and getting weight loss going. Last nights dinner was a cross-over with the rice and coco-sauce in the kale. So maybe this little side-jog into the PLAN cleanse is serving that purpose. The other meals mostly fit nicely into the S meal category. So today, I think I'll test that theory again by using the vegetarian Day 3 which includes chickpeas for the dinner protein source.

Ooh, nice to hear rice isn't a problem for you, Leez! That would open a lot of options for you.

Colleen, how are you feeling? And what are mic shots?

I'm much better. I have the last remnants of a cough but I feel pretty good. I loaded yesterday and today and tomorrow start the diet. I'm super excited! MIC shots are amino acids that are supposed to help you lose better and preserve muscle. I took them once before but not with hcg, just by themselves. I never really saw any difference but we'll see. I typically lose .5 a day averaged over the length of the round so if I lose better than that with this regimen, I'll know it worked better.

They only sent me 5000 iu so I'll just do 30. I only want to lose about 15 pounds anyway so we'll see how long it takes. If I lose it in 23 days, I'll be ahead of schedule. LOL

Glad you are feeling better Grammy.

Leez, Congrats on the loss! How does that cleanse work? Maybe I need that or a good crossover meal to get things moving. I am down 1.4 today. Seems like so little for a whole week of sticking to plan. I lost pretty good when I first started but I wasn't using the recipes then. I was just separating fuels. Then during the holidays I gained it all back. I have been trying to stay away from the heavy S recipes but that is hard when my DH loves them and does well with them. sigh. Well, I do have hcg coming but really dont want to do another round. So we shall see........

Sounds like you are off to a good start. I always love how good I feel while on HCG. And the absense of hunger part is always so amazing.

After finishing the 3 day PLAN cleanse I'm down 2 pounds. Adding that to the 3 pounds lost from the steak day, that makes 5 pounds down in the last week. I'm feeling so much more positive now.

Ginger, I think 1.4 loss for the week on THM is GREAT. They say that a pound a week is a good result on that program.

To your question: losing weight on the PLAN cleanse seems a bit mysterious to me, because you are eating over 2500 calories each day. (And some are cross-overs according to THM) The flax granola breakfast alone is around 700. I suspect it has something to do with the very low sodium level. Although its not no-sodium. The recipes/foods keep you under 1500mg which is pretty sane, I think. But I found out that is probably the reason you use Silk coconut milk for this, as the sodium is pretty much zero. Its fairly high in almond or cashew milk in comparison.

I have a caution for anyone starting it. I've learned that if you have a regimen of supplements that keeps you regular, do NOT stop it during the cleanse. The first time I went through it, I followed the instructions to stop all supplements, and it took me around 10 days to get things going properly again. This time I followed my usual magnesium/vitaminC regimen and was fine. Some people find the flax keeps them moving, but it seems to work the opposite for me. Actually, I only had the granola breakfast for one of the 3 days this time. The other mornings I had the chia/blueberry compote with sunflower seeds instead, which is one of the approved substitutions for the flax granola. Its also become one of my preferred S breakfasts--especially now, because I want something warm for breakfast in winter.

I didn't follow it exactly. I didn't give up coffee, but I did follow the liquids timing rules. I also had a bit of dark chocolate after dinner nights 2 & 3, and used roasted sunflower seeds when I ran out of the raw ones. Losses were fine with those aberrations. Those foods were all passed in previous tests, so I considered them "safe". Admittedly, the purpose of the cleanse is not weight loss, but thats what I was using it for, so I'm happy with the result. Happy enough to extend it a bit.

I think I will continue on the vegetarian menu with a test day today and test hemp, since I'm not sure about it. I'm still 3 pounds higher than when I started THM. And the whole reason I jumped into THM was because I was 3 pounds over my window then. So I still have a ways to go to feel like I'm maintaining successfully.

5 pounds is awesome! I would be satisfied with the 1.4 except that is realy the loss for about the last 5 weeks so not so good. I wish I had been more careful over the holidays and hadn't gained back the weight I had lost. . I really didn't do so bad with my eating but I have just about concluded that the dairy is what does me in every time. Trying to stay away from it with only occasional parm on my veggies and I rarely have half and half or cream in my coffee anymore. Staying away from recipes with cheese as much as possible too.

I'm kind of getting used to nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor. Works well for anything you would use parmesan for. (But disappears in tomato sauce, so not good there.) Maybe you could try the vegan cheese recipes in the cookbook. Also I heard that Whole Foods carries Kite Hill cheese which is just cultured nut milk, almond I think.
