Thanks. I was aware of that. I'm just not sure I buy it completely. That Julian thing has actually been a controversy for a couple years now. I don't think its all what it seems. From what I've gathered, there are some with a vendetta out to defame Julian bakery. So bad reviews and hit articles have been around on the net for a while. The uproar was sufficient at the beginning to make Julian Bakery change its bread formulas. (which, imo made them unusable--as in "blech". I used to love their Carb1 bread before they were made to change it. They should have just relabled a good product.) But I think the attack has been carried on. Bad reports can be manufactured just like good ones can. Certainly, if you get a moldy bar, you should send it back. Any company can make a mistake. I recall that they made an apology for a bad shipment that went out. I haven't ordered any of their products recently, but the stuff I have tried has been fine.

I see that same site has a hit piece on Sami's bakery too.

I'm still just maintaining with THM. Yesterday I attempted an all E day. I say attempted because in the end I ate a few spoonfuls of organic, unsalted peanut butter w/stevia after dinner. E meals leave me craving FAT! And with the day winding down, there was nothing to distract me.

    Here's my day's menu:

Upon Waking: Coffee with almond milk
B-fast: Oatmeal w/egg whites & a smattering of blueberries & stevia (so satisfying)
Sipper: The Shrinker (sipped on all day long...love this one...tastes like a Chai...I add fresh ginger too. Yum!)
Lunch: Sweet & Sour Chicken over basmati brown rice (love, love, love this recipe, altho I get gas from it...tweaked Mrs. Criddle's recipe http://mrscriddleskitchen.com/sweet-n-sour-chicken/ ... I thought the gas was from Erythitol, but I only put pure stevia extract this time & still the dark cloud hovered and chased me around all afternoon...xanthum gum perhaps?)
Dinner: Big Salad - 3 oz chicken breast, 3/4 c quinoa, 1/2 romaine heart, celery, cucumber, sweet onion, 1/2 green apple tossed w/a lite dijon viniagrette
Snack: 3 big spoonfuls of organic, unsalted PB w/pure stevia extract

Weight stayed the same from day before...currently sitting at 134.

I do not have the THM book. I learned about diet from first book that I borrowed from the library and renewed twice. I now have the cookbook (also from the library). It seeme I read somewhere about a "mama" struggling with losing weight and there was mention of a possible reason. I've skimmed through the cookbook looking for this reference but can't find it. I sure would like to figure out why it is so hard for me to lose. This has been true since after my 2nd child over 30 years ago. I believe my thyroid is now stabilized and free T3 at optimal levels, I've narrowed down the big food sensitivity issues...other than my hormones "are in the toliet" (quoted Colleen), what could be the problem? I am one of those "purest"...cook/prepare all my meals from scratch, using mostly organic. So frustrating. Oh, and I would have these big A$$ stalls (12 days was my longest, but each round I stalled twice for over a week). Wishing I could figure out the reason, is all.
    Round 3:
    SW (8/1/15): 134.8 lbs. (+5 lbs R2 LIW)
LIW (8/29/15): 123.2 lbs. TOTAL LOSS -11.6 lbs.; 17.75 inches

    Went from a tight size 12 (164 lbs) to size 6 (123).

Apr 2016 Update: In the midst of Round 4 with a goal of ~123 lbs AGAIN, but more importantly, I'm looking to lose inches. 4/10/16: 126.6; size 6s loose.

One of the reasons for not losing talked about in the book is possible high prolactin levels. For that, they recommend you back off the whey protein and use more collagen and gelatin instead. In the turtle chapter, they also recommend cutting carb portions in E meals by a third, and even doing a whole days of FP. I haven't attempted that one yet.

I don't use xanthan gum, but that recipe seems like it uses a lot. Sounds plausible it could have caused the gas problem. Or maybe the onions? The recipe sounds like one I need to try.

I had another one of my goofy whole pound jump ups today. I did have an E meal and E snack, so maybe just some extra water retention at play or something. Temp didn't drop, so I don't think I reacted to anything in particular.

Today will be all S and FP, so hopefully that pound will disappear tomorrow.

Oh Thanks Leez...I'll Google about high prolactin levels...which I have no clue what that might be...and see if anything resonates. What a crazy ride this weight loss journey has been, right? Good thing I'm more about the journey, then the destination...well sort of. I envy those that lose & stabilize, yet wonder if it's that simple for any of us.

Beautiful day here in Colorado so began Spring cleanup in the garden. Nice to be outside. Good distraction from eating.

    Today's menu:

Began like yesterday... coffee then oatmeal. Sipper while in garden. Didn't come inside til 3:30p & warmed up S&S chicken over brown rice. Vacuumed & mopped house. Now soaking in tub w/glass of red wine. May have a snack when I get out. An E day so far.

    Happy Sunday to all.

What a bummer about unexplained gain, Leez. Hopefully scale will show adjustment tomorrow.

    I don't use whey...bloats & makes me gassy...nor have I bought collagen or gelatin...funds tight right now.

When they say cut carbs by a third do they mean grain carbs or does that include veggie carbs? If so, what do you eat? Straight lean protein? Geez.

High prolactin levels can be related to hypothyroidism. I imagine it's a pretty common problem.

Gorgeous & sunny here today too. I took a walk, but I probably shouldn't have. It was extremely windy and just bet that I inhaled a lot of leaf mold blowing around, and I get deathly ill from that stuff. I prophylactically took a benendryl when I got back. So far so good, so hoping I dodged the bullet.

I don't mind the journey so much as long as the destination remains in sight. ^_^
Shake Gone Nuts for dinner tonight. I find the shakes and smoothies are greatly benefited by extra gluccomannan. And letting the blender run for a couple minutes after adding the ice. They get really smooth and creamy that way..

I take that suggestion to mean that if the portion is 3/4 C of grain in an E meal, you would cut it to 1/2 C. Or if you are splitting your fuel sources in the E meal, cut the total carb grams to 30g. You don't count the carbs on FP veggies, but you do count them on starchy ones like butternut squash or sweet potato, and for fruit and dairy.

Fuel Pulls are anything with 5g or less fat, and 10g or less starch/fruit. If using a frankenfood like the Josephs pitas, you can't go over 6g carb.

And another thing to remember is that ingredients always tops numbers. So while some Frankenfoods are okay, others are not because they contain ingredients that aren't allowed. So always look at the ingredients first.

Leez sounds like you are figuring what works for you. I have been off plan and gained a few lbs this week and instead of being upset It made me realize the THM is a good way for me to maintain. I didn't lose on it however but I love that I can eat well and not gain! I am starting a round tomorrow. I just want this muffin top to go away. Lol!

Sunshine, I seem to still be stuggling for some reason. Even with more FP meals, I'm still bouncing up. Sigh. Maybe instead of 3 meals and a snack, I should do 2 meals and 2 snacks. I might try that.

Wow, it looks like many of us on this thread are going back for another HCG round. Not such a good testimony for THM, it seems. I haven't yet thrown in the towel, I'm still trying to figure it out.

I'm doing 2 E's and an FP for lunch and see how that goes today. I made an eggless zuchini/oat cake today that looks like it might have come out well. Maybe that will be dinner.

Did you see the PM I sent you?

THM (Trim Healthy Mama) for P4

Sorry I didn't see it until now.

I think if I had never dieted and I was not in Peri-menopause THM would have worked for losing.
