I haven't thrown in towel just yet either...but sure think about it. I too would love to lose the muffin top but after gaining all I lost back within a few months I want to try a different route.

Leez, I read up on high prolactin levels...the meds to lower levels don't sound good...and i don't have the symptoms they talk about, which aren't much. It was worth a look over tho.

    Down 0.2...but I don't count it...merely a bump.

S b-fast, E lunch, mocha sipper (no protein, using leftover coffee...it was good). Probably an E dinner of "cream" of cauliflower soup (homemade).
    Round 3:
    SW (8/1/15): 134.8 lbs. (+5 lbs R2 LIW)
LIW (8/29/15): 123.2 lbs. TOTAL LOSS -11.6 lbs.; 17.75 inches

    Went from a tight size 12 (164 lbs) to size 6 (123).

Apr 2016 Update: In the midst of Round 4 with a goal of ~123 lbs AGAIN, but more importantly, I'm looking to lose inches. 4/10/16: 126.6; size 6s loose.

Woo! Down a pound this morning. Had an idea yesterday that maybe the one little new thing I did (add caraway seeds to my low-carb roll recipe) might be the issue. So I didn't have any yesterday. And bam. Down a pound. So I won't do that again for a while. I'm sad that I can't use them, because they gave a lovely "rye" taste to my rolls, but I'll just make another batch sans caraway.

I did two E's and an FP lunch and then had an FP snack about 3 hours after dinner yesterday. Nice to know you can lose doing E's. I do so love my E's.

So far on track today with FP breakfast (chia tapioca), FP lunch Fotato soup, crunkers and LLC cheese wedge. The crunkers are not too bad made with water instead of egg whites. They get kind of softly crisp. Its nice to have a cracker-type thing to have once in a while.

However.....a recipe adjustment was needed for the Fotato soup, since I was out of the main ingredient: cauliflower. What to do? Substitute broccoli, of course. (I bet cabbage would have worked well too). So I basically had a cream of broccoli soup instead. It was pretty good. And the gluccie makes these FP recipes surprisingly filling. I'm planning a light S for dinner and some kind of FP snack or dessert later.

Using FP recipes is a whole new thing for me, but I'm trying it because its mentioned in the tips section for turtles that it can sometimes be the thing that can get things going for you. So, we'll see.

Hi Leez. Congrats on your losses. Happy that you are finding what works even with a few hiccups along the way.
We have finally returned home after 9 weeks on the road. My adaptation of general concept of THM worked this year so far. Im holding stable ... My husband said it is amazing that i eat well and continue to stabilize. For me the main thing and change this year is 99% grain free and no dairy except occasionally hard cheese. I consider butter a fat so i do eat butter. Mostly my starches have been sweet potatoes and starchy veggies including some plantains. Generally i am eating most of my calories in the morning and late lunch and sometimes no regular dinner...just protein and fruit .

Thanks for that overview of what you have been doing Rose. It seems that that's the way I'm trending following the turtle loser advice. Which is basically to do a lot of protein/veggie only meals and keep the dinner and evening eating very light. And if you keep to the carb allotment rules doing that, there isn't much room for a lot of fruit or grains.

Yesterday, 2 FP's and a light S for dinner and I'm happy to report a drop of .6 so that and the pound loss the day before takes care of whatever bumped me up again this week. Maybe I can actually start making some progress now.

Today's plan: E, light S, FP. I'm still having trouble with figuring out how to do deep S for breakfast without eggs, so I haven't really ventured there much yet. I suppose I should get some ground chicken and make some sausage.

Hope the losses continue Leez!! Good job Rose on figuring out what works for you.

I am doing a round as I am too impatient! Loading day 2 and I will be hanging out with the Lovely Losers for now! LOL. I failed miserably when I tried one in the fall as we had too many parties and company around. This time there is a lot less going on and if my hubby invites too many people over he will be on his own and I will go back to our other house if I can't resist temptation. I have to take care of me this time. When I am on my own I have no problem keeping POP. I just ate a chocolate bar and I don't know why as I never eat them anymore. Well actually if I spent $2.00 more at the grocery store I got 10% off and the chocolate bars were sitting right there! Way too sweet!

It is seeming to have to do with a lot of FPs. Something I was ignoring before.

I'm going to give it my best shot. It's a bit saddening that I can't seem to do with the regular program of mixing up E & S meals and snacks. But it just doesn't seem that is realistic for those of us that are menopausal. Pearl and Serene are, after all, in a different age demographic, so what works for them doesn't necessarily translate to our situation. However, I may start studying Rose's posts more carefully, as she seems to have it figured out.

Interestingly, what Rose is doing seems basicaly aligned with what Grammy described in the new FMD book for healing with the minimal grains, light dinners and such.

Leez...perhaps when you are POST menopausal like me (73) then perhaps some of those foods that are not working might be better. In the past i used to try to do P4 almost as low carb. But i also didnt make sure i weighed each day or make sure i had protein and fats as needed. This time im keeping two fruits per day...protein at each meal and fats as needed Im adding sweet potatoes more regularly and will every couple of months eat small amounts of rice. If im hungry i do grab a protein bar or eat a couple T of peanut butter and im satisfied. My main issue is not letting my blood sugar get low or i will crave junk snacks . Lol. Gets me every time !! I keep those small packs of carrots in my cooler when we travel and peanuts too. Occasionally eat a box of cranberries which i know have high sugar but i eat nuts when i eat them so my sugar stays stable . Im still learning and slowly experimenting.

Rose, I think I am post menopausal (over 6 years now) I'm just not post hot-flashing, unfortunately. So I guess it depends on what the definition is.

THM says that protein at every meal is the key. Oddly, many years ago I was on another food combining program that pushed the idea that people eat too much protein. That same program combined fats and starches, but forbid fats with protein. It seems every program contradicts some other one, and yet each has their success stories. I guess it just bears out how different we all can be in processing our foods.

Guinea pig report (for Ginger )
I had a huge bloating and gas response to something last night that started after I had a THM shake after a tiny dinner. Its happened a couple times now. I'm not sure if its just all the air whipped into it, the sheer volume, or some ingredient. It seems to happen when I use the Thin-Thick recipe that has the gelatin in it. Which of course, is my favorite of the bunch.

Thankfully, I was alone last night and it didn't cause a big rise on the scale this morning. I'm holding within .2 of yesterday.

Tried a new recipe from the cookbook today for my FP dinner: The Sensitive Secret Big Boy. I was surprised how yummy it was...it was not looking promising when I was mixing it up, but it really has a lovely, sophisticated flavor from the cardamom spice. Interestingly, it has gelatin and okra in it...like the ThinThick..but I didn't get the bloating and gas tonight.

I do have to say that with all these FP meals, this is starting to feel a lot like dieting, and a bit artificial. I sometimes feel like I'm in a chemistry lab with some of these special ingredients. And I can't remember ever having so many measuring spoons in the sink all of the time.

Leez, I have to agree with all the "special" ingredients. I have chosen NOT to purchase any of them, as of yet. As I flip through the cookbook, I'm actually turned off by many of them that seem a little too far out there and of course I can't do so many of them due to the use of coconut (or mct oil), whey, nuts, cheese, etc. I grow okra in my garden and love it, yet they act like it is some newfound veggie.

Remember my experience of gas & bloat after eating the delish Sweet & Sour chicken? Well the second time I ate it (leftovers), I had just a tiny bit of gas (no bloating) and the last 2 servings I didn't have any problems whatsoever. Now why would that happen? Makes no sense. Perhaps something in letting it "sit" helps? Who knows. Still a fav of mine and the body does seems to like it. Yay!

I'm still bouncing...oh, I mean, maintaining, between 133-136. This morning woke to 133.2....now if I could just maintain here and perhaps drop 2 lbs and bounce at a lower weight...say 131-134. Ha! When I look over my weight/food log, that's what I though was going to happen. I'd bounce between a few pounds, then drop a pound or two and bounce around there and continue on in that pattern. Hasn't happened yet.

I've consistently "sipped" on The Shrinker every day, in hopes this drink might get things a going...not a chance. But I do like this drink and it makes me get my liquids in.

That's my report. All in all, nothing really new. I'll be enjoying myself in the garden this weekend. Supposed to be nice weather and I have plenty to keep me busy. Ta-ta.

    Went from a tight size 12 (164 lbs) to size 6 (123).
