    Trim Healthy Mama

    HI Leez,

Just dealing with a summer stomach bug. my stomach hasn't looked this big in a long time, but I am hopeful that it is inflammation and will leave soon. I will really hit the water with lemon and herb teas tomorrow.

I have been reading the Trim Healthy Mama book, gosh it is hard to get through. Is there a cliff notes version? I am reading the first book.

Is there a collagen supplement you like? Do you use a lot of their supplements? I am not a fan of stevia, and use some zylitol.

Hope you are well and not in sizzling heat.

    Warm Regards,
    RK

So sorry to hear you are fighting a bug. Lots of fluids is always good for that, so you are doing what you need to do.

Do you have the original book? That one is really hard to get through because all the info is tucked around the recipes.

There is a good quick start guide from this blogger: Gwen's Nest.
    https://gwens-nest.com/trim-healthy-...art-guide-new/

There is also a starter book available on their trimhealthymama store.

I started off with the plan book and accompanying cookbook. The starter book wasn't available then. That seemed manageable.

I use various brands of collagen. THMs is good and a fair price. Custom Collagen can be bought in bulk and lower the price that way if you find you are using it a lot. Great Lakes and Vital Protein are good brands.

We are actually having a nice break in the weather and have been in 60-70's range the past few days with some rain. Its about to heat up, though.

    Good Morning Leez,

Thank you for your reply! Glad you are having a break in the weather. It is really heating up here in Southern California, but at least it is cool in the morning.

Yes I have the original book and it is very chatty. I also just got the cookbook which I think may have an easier explanation of the diet. Thank you for sending me the link to the QuickStart guide. I tried googling, but could not find any blogs or forums. I just kept getting rerouted to their store. If you have any other helpful linkks could you please let me know? It seems to have very straightforward principals but quite a slog through all their conversations and I am probably just looking for specifics. I think this will be easier to follow than the fast metabolism diet. No doubt it would’ve been easier for me to read if I wasn’t trying to do it while I was sick ha ha.

Leez, do you use a lot of protein powder? Do you have one you like? I have only tried a few and they were not good. But perhaps I tried the wrong kind. Do you use collagen frequently?

I am still recovering from the stomach bug, and my weight is up! 5 pounds! I’m sure it is inflammation though. I haven’t been eating enough crap to be up 5 pounds giggle, so at least I am calm about it. I am drinking a lot of water with Lemon, And I am going to really hit the fluids hard today.

Thank you for your help and have a great day.

    Fondly,
    RK

There are a bunch of facebook groups you can find with search but you have to join to see content. There is a beginner one and one for over 50, an allergy group, no special ingredients group and so forth. There is also a group on MeWe.

There is an old mostly dead forum, but it might be worth a look because there is a lot of good info there.

You can't go wrong with any of the THM products. When looking for a good quality whey protein isolate, it should be cold processed, micro or cross-filtered and if possible from grassfed cows. I normally peruse amazon and can find something that fits. I only use unflavored, and add my own sweetener and flavors. All the flavored ones I've tried are way to sweet for me. I mostly use it in shakes. You can also use eggwhite protein. It does the same thing in all the recipes. You can get it at trader joes. Dairy free people tend to like the Nutribiotic brown rice protein powders. Some like SunWarrior.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
