You are right to be amazed you fit in such a small size now...

I know that I find it amazing that I fit in a size 6 at a weight that a couple decades ago had me in 12-14s. Its pretty obvious that as the population has gotten fatter, that clothing companies have relaxed the sizes over the years. But this article really shows how much that has happened.

    Quite eye-opening.

Yeah, everyone who likes to say they are a size zero, 2, 4 nowadays, back in the 80's we called it a 7-10, nowadays my size 7-10 would be considered a 4. I like to hover at a 16-18 yuck and back in the day that was probably a 22. Ick! Nowadays after a lot of hard work, etc. I am at a 12-14. But would LOOOOOVE to get out of plusses completely. Cannot wait! R2 in October, hopefully I will accomplish that. Size 10 here I come...size medium whatever. lol.

I keep getting shocked by having to buy smalls, even though I know about vanity sizing. It just doesn't seem right.

It's a popular urban myth that MM was a size 14 or larger. Her weight fluctuated like that of many women. Often when people met her they were surprised to see how petite she really was. Also, her wardrobe was sewn on her so that it was skintight. If she were alive today at the same measurements and weight she'd be between a size 2 or 6. At the time of her death she weighed a mere 118 lbs. Hardly overweight.
