Gracedancer – thanks so much for all the information, I loved it. Most are pretty hard for me to eat, but I might try more. Never had butter lettuce before.
So far my best friend has been my toaster oven, just too hot to do much else really. I had tomato for lunch today so we will see how I do on it (I read some place some people had problems on it). I hope I do good, because I could actually eat it without any problems.
So since I love pickles, how come I don’t like cucumber? *laughs* I have no clue what radishes taste like, but when you say it “loses the heat” I am not sure they are for me. I read someplace else about spinach chips, maybe I will have to try them one time.

chris4446 Thanks for the information the steak, sirloin is what I bought (petite sirloin exactly)… but I just was not sure it was right. Be glad for P3 when I don’t have to be so picky about meat.
Sorry to hear you had a tough morning, (and so glad it got better) I take time to assess that any time I think about a yummy food it is all emotional. Friday will be hard for me. I put this huge presentation together and I would always munch on something while doing it, popcorn, pistachios, and bad stuff too, so it will be the first time I have done the presentation since starting this.
Now I am starting to get a little paranoid about what if TOM starts and what it will do to me. I had planned on not having it, but I am wondering if it is going to come even though I am still taking my BC. I hope not, but I am starting to worry.

Becky Congrats on 16.5 inches loss, that is just awesome!!!

Jdaz and spshell thanks for the information on Stevia. I discovered had some stevia in the raw in the house, I think I put it in ice tea once and really did not like it. I might just use it for recipes if needed (tomorrow I am going to try the Crunchy Sweet Apple Chicken Salad that cat123 sent a couple days ago, I picked up all the things needed today).
The flavors of Stevia sound good, but I think I will hold off, I don’t want to start sugar cravings.

Garceau: Loved reading your story, so glad to have you and your wife on board. Sounds like you have an interesting and challenging life to try to stick to the restrictions of the diet, but obviously you are doing an awesome job!! 14.8lbs is amazing in a week!!! I think my biggest struggle would have been your buddy eating chips next to me, but good for me a story just came out this past week about how chips being so bad and stuff and it would have helped me have willpower! I am sorry about the accident, but it sounds like you are doing well now.
Tell your wife we are right there with her!!! I think it is especially hard when you see big loses by others and wonder why not you… but we are all so very different. If she needs to talk, send her to us!!!

MsBree: I just read your tag (not that I never did before, but it caught my eye while “catching up”, not sure why). One I am a single mom too, been that way for a long time, but it is hard as I have a 22 year old disabled son who can’t live on his own.
Anyway, to my point about your tag… I am so glad you quit smoking! Good job!!! I know it sucks to gain the weight, but I think it is awesome.
I am like you, can’t wait until P3 to start adding things in. I am going to be so meticulous in my notes to see what causes weight gain.

So this morning, I stepped on the scale and had a -.5, was a bit bummed after being so sick all darn night that it was not more. I thought I flushed out every fat cell in my body last night (it sure felt that way), it should count for something. I am thankful for several of you who posted about “inches” and reminded me that to me that is what it is really all about. It is not about losing Pounds, persay, it is about losing inches and feeling better about how I look. Yep, I need to lose some pounds to do that, but it is the inches for me. Yesterday I got out the shorts I want to fit in for August, and I could at least get them up, buttoned and not be horribly uncomfortable, so I must be losing inches already, at least I hope so!!!

Long day today at work, and I am sorry I did not get to post this morning. Just know I am thinking of you all, even when I can’t get on. I wonder how each and everyone you are doing, if you are struggling, doing fine, and I think great thoughts for all of us.

Thanks for all your support and encouragement!!!
Oh and I have a new scale today, so no more .5 increments, now it will be as close as .2

Have a great night everyone!!! Hugs!

Hi Jeri - Carol (Rudy) here - I am Garceau's wife. I got him on the boards, so now we both can check in here. Always good to diversify the field on here. Don't worry about the smaller loss today, you now know you are losing inches if you are already getting close to fitting into your shorts - yeah!

Today was my easiest day so far. No real cravings, but I wasn't tested too much today except for someone popping popcorn before I had my lunch. The spinach chips are easy...Preheat oven (or toaster oven) to 350 degrees. Place spinach leaves on parchment paper on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes and done. I used baby spinach. They are very thin, so not as crunchy as a real chip, but definitely something different and a good way to 'get down' a veggie you might not be terribly excited about.

As far as your like of pickles and dislike of cucumbers, you could try this easy recipe: Peel a cucumber and cut into thin slices. Put the slices in a bowl, sprinkle with sea salt - make sure all the cukes get some salt), then add 1/4 cup vinegar. Everyone here sticks with apple cider vinegar, but I went with the distilled white vinegar I've always used. Dr. S. listed 'vinegar' as acceptable in his protocol, and for this recipe I didn't want the extra flavor, but I am sure it would be fine with the apple cider vinegar. Refrigerate for a couple hours - overnight is even better. Gives them a nice flavor. Not exactly the same as a pickle, but I always liked it as a refreshing summer vegetable.

Signing off for the night - hope things are getting easier for most! Gotta get to bed before I see a commercial for something I typically crave...

Went up .2 this morning - not real sure why. Havent cheated none, but my guess would be I didnt drink enough water yesterday. I did have a salty lunch and dinner and 2 apples so I may be retaining a little.

Im not going to sweat it yet, hopefully tomorrow it adjusts itself and the weight drops again.

Carol and Garceau- OK, now I got the connection. Glad you are both on here!

I'm down .8 this morning. I'm still 5 pounds up from my last rounds ldw, but now that I've lowered my goal I'm about 10 pounds away from my new goal. I tried on some of my old 6's and they are still a bit too snug. I'll be relieved when I can get in them again. Last night I made bbq sauce using stevia and chocolate stevia (weird, huh) as the sweetener. It was a nice change. I found a few recipes online and then combined and created my own. It was more like a chipotle. Husband was very grateful for the change, so was I. I'm looking forward to the leftovers for lunch today.

Here's hoping for big drops in pounds and inches for all! Happy Tuesday!

    OK Everyone -
I was faithful the 1st week, except for Sunday (day before my 1st weigh in)... I caved when we went out to Chinese buffet... I pretty much stuck to proteins, but had 2 pot stickers (yummmm) and then had nothing else the rest of the day... (of course, I wasn't very hungry after that anyway )... SO needless to say I was very scared to to jump on the scale Monday, BUT... much to my DELIGHT... I WAS down 7.5 lbs... and I weighed myself again this morning cause I know Sunday had to have affected my weight loss, and I was down another 3 lbs... SO ... all in all... I'm very pleased with my first weigh in, even though I did cave a bit on Sunday... I'll continue my Monday weigh-ins cause I love to see the big # loss... Can hardly believe I am out of the 260's, in the 250's and soon to be in the 240's!!!!!
I will attempt to continue to be faithful... since I know what the REWARD is... MORE WEIGHT LOSS!!!
Hope everyone is keeping up the good work... great to see the results of the poll...

maorchid - congrats on your first day, keep it up!

Carol, thanks so much, now I got it!!! I think it is great that you two are doing this together, I would think that has to make it easier. Son made frozen lasagna last night, boy it smelled good!
I was thrilled to slide on those shorts after only a week and feel like they could be doable, and I still have two weeks to go, so I am excited.
I sit near the microwave at work, and I get to smell everyone's lunches... the good and the bad... oh and the popcorn too. So far I have been ok with it not bothering me too much.
I am totally going to try both your ideas for spinach chips and the cucumbers. I need to get more veggies in me!!

I watched Food Network star last night and the "food" part of it did not bother me at all.

Garceau - My guess would be not enough water either, but love that you have the right attitude about it!!

spshell - Congrats on the -.8 this morning. Your sauce sounds interesting, I would never have thought about putting those two together to make bbq sauce. I am still not that willing to step out and experiment too much. I am going to try to spinach chips and the cucumbers, but even that will be hard for me. I just know I need to get more veggies in me.

Speaking of that, I had no veggies on Sunday (because I was so sick) and yesterday I had only tomato for lunch. I am not urgently needing to go to the bathroom, but still having some problems. At least the urgency is over (thank goodness). However, I am still peeing like crazy and need to find less abrasive tp!!! (*laughs* TMI, but goodness sake, I pee so often it is just crazy, I almost had to leave a meeting yesterday, luckily it wrapped up early. New rule for me, always go to the bathroom just before a meeting!!!)

Barbara - Congrats on your 10.5 loss so far, great job! I am way to afraid to even think about eating out!

I am down 1.2 this morning. Love my new .2 increment scale. It has a body fat measurement and a water % measurement. Ignoring the body fat, but finding the water part interesting to watch.

As spshell said, Here's hoping for big drops in pounds and inches for all!! (very well said spshell!!)

Happy Tuesday everyone, hope you all have an awesome day!

Maybe that's why I feel so full, I took them this time 30 mins before my lunch. Anyone else take them before or after and notice that is makes a difference? I should probably take them before from now on.
chris...this is great, and what happened to you is what I WANT to happen to me! I have never felt 'full' or 'stuffed' since loading days! I have my hunger up's and down's, but I feel I am constantly fixated on the clock and my next meal! Question, did you make it to dinner OK then (without hunger), since you were stuffed at lunch?....you lucky girl!!!!

Even though I know it's ok that I didn't lose again this morning, I really needed to read this to stay encouraged. I copied and pasted it here for you. It's from P & I.

"The weight registered by the scale is determined by two processes not necessarily synchronized. Under the influence of HCG, fat is being extracted from the cells, in which it is stored in the fatty tissue. When these cells are empty and therefore serve no purpose, the body breaks down the cellular structure and absorbs it, but breaking up of useless cells, connective tissue, blood vessels, etc., may lag behind the process of fat-extraction. When this happens the body appears to replace some of the extracted fat with water which is retained for this purpose. As water is heavier than fat the scales may show no loss of weight, although sufficient fat has actually been consumed to make up for the deficit in the 500-Calorie diet. When then such tissue is finally broken down, the water is liberated and there is a sudden flood of urine and a marked loss of weight. This simple interpretation of what is really an extremely complex mechanism is the one we give those patients who want to know why it is that on certain days they do not lose, though they have committed no dietary error."
Thank you spshell for this reminder....I've read P & I a couple of times, but I totally forgot about this, which I will NOT forget about this time! So your timing is great, considering my losses are getting slower! I haven't read all the posts here yet, so I'm hoping to read that your scale did show a loss this morning!

urrgh...up 1.1 lbs this morning. Got home late last night and was starving. I had to grill the chicken (in the 112 degree AZ weather!!) then put together the salad. I ended up throwing on some Walden Farms sugar free dressing and ate 10 rice crackers and 5 bites of Fage 2% (should have thrown that away when I went back on P2). I was perfect round 1. I think I did so well because I was always prepared. My meeting ran over by 2 hours and that just threw me. Preperation is the key. Always have cooked protein on hand!! Lesson learned. I am going to cut out the fruit today, since I am sure my sugar free dressing had some sort of 'bad' sugar in it.
Glad everyone else had some nice losses!!

Jeri...thanks for catching the tag and commenting on it! I'm thrilled to be done with the cigarettes, and despite the weight gain afterwards, it's finally coming off! Ahhh, the joys of being a single parent, and I wouldn't change it for the world! My youngest, who will be 12 in a couple of weeks, is also special needs, and I wouldn't trade her for the world either!!!!

I know you're bummed about that lousy -.5 this morning, but I'm also glad you remembered about the scale in P&I....I'm waiting for that water flush! lol I enjoyed reading about you and your shorts....I did the same thing this morning....I could get into a couple of pairs from last summer with no problem....BUT, did you try and sit down (the real test)??? hahahahaha I did...forget it! I'll try them again this weekend!

Congrats on your new scale...you'll be very happy with it!!!!!
