Thread: I am on day 17 and SOOO hungry

Question I am on day 17 and SOOO hungry

Hi Grammy! I just joined the forum and cant really figure out how to create a new post so i'm replying on this post since I have a similar (ish) question- I did a few rounds of HCG about 9 years ago with great success through a medical practice. Im doing it again but through a different place, its a bougie med spa (and i haven't been super impressed with them but thats a long story for another day.) I was given a premixed vile of 11,000 iu HCG and was told to fill the syringe up to 30 units. I am on day 17 and SOOO hungry. When I mentioned this to them they just told me to take more appetite suppresents. I don't remember having hunger pangs like this last time and i lost more weight last time as well. Im thinking the dosing is off, would you have any thoughts on that?

Hi, Grammy hasn't checked in for a while, so I'll try to address your question for you.

Without knowing how your HCG was mixed, it is impossible to determine what dose you are on, but it sounds like it may be too high. We can't properly recommend a change until we know what you are actually taking. But the wrong dose can cause severe hunger AND poor losses.

Please find out what dose you are taking in IUs, and we can proceed from there.

For now, skip your dose tomorrow and report back what your hunger level is like in the late afternoon to early evening . (This assumes you are dosing in the morning.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH for getting back to me so promptly!! I really appreciate any and all help. Yesterday morning I actually dropped my dose down to 20 units vs 30 units on a whim based off the information I was reading on this forum. I *think* it helped. I ended up taking the shot this morning, again at 20 units, but will not take one tomorrow and report back! I thought my slow weight loss had to do with the fact that I am 3 months postpartum and about 1 decade older (did it when I was 25 originally and now im 34) but the hunger pangs just really seem wrong based off my last experience. Thank you so much for the tips!

Ok... Proceeding according to your actions.

Do not skip tomorrow. You need to be at the same dose for at least 4 days, or the skip day will not give us the information needed to make a correct adjustment.

The reason you must do a skip day properly before adjusting dose is that HCG doses overlap each other for 3 days. So while you may get a little relief from dropping without skipping (assuming the adjustment was in the right direction), it takes a lot longer for the dose to level out. In the meantime, you are still hungry and still not losing well.

Before your reach that 4 day point, contact your HCG provider and find out either:

What is your IU dose for 30 units?
    or

How much bacteriostatic water did they mix with the 11,000IU HCG vial

Either will provide the dose information needed.

    Hi Leez!

So today I had my weekly check-in and b12 shot. I was told that its 10,000 IU in 30 units and 30 cc's of the bacteriostatic water. I have no clue what to make of those numbers or even if the tech knew what she was talking about lol

Thanks for getting the info. I'll try to help you sort it out.

Your statement is a bit confusing. I'm assuming the 30 units is what they are having you draw to on your U-100 insulin syringe, because that is what you reported in an earlier post.

So, using the other 2 numbers, it looks like they mixed 10,000iu HCG with 30cc of bacteriostatic water. That means that in each CC (ml) of water, there are 333iu HCG.

They are telling you to take 30 units of that.

You've cut that back to 20 units. That means you are taking 65iu HCG, which is a dangerously low dose. We usually find that 80iu is about as low as you can go and have the HCG still be effective. If this is actually your dose, you are likely not getting any benefit from the HCG and if continued, you will be losing the wrong kind of weight (muscle) which will hurt your metabolism.

    65iu dose = 20 units (or .20)
    80iu dose = 25 units ( or .25)
    100iu dose = 30 units (or .3)
    125iu dose = 38 units (or .38)
    150iu dose = 45 units (or .45)

    Now here is the problem:
I am questioning these numbers, because clinics almost never dilute more than 1:2 and most of them do 1:1 What that means is normally, a clinic would mix 10,000IU HCG with 10ml/cc bacteriostatic water. So this dilution ratio that you reported seems very odd. I've never run across a dilution ratio of 1:3 before.

Before we assume you are are taking the dose calculated above, I think it would be wise to verify your dose by calling the clinic, and asking exactly how many IUs of HCG are in your dose of 30 units. Also, please confirm that your dosing syringe is a U-100 insulin syringe. If you are using a U-40 syringe, the dose calculations are entirely different, and we will have to start over. If this doesn't make sense to you, post a pic of your syringe that shows the marks and U rating.

If it turns out you are really are taking 65iu in a 20 unit dose, (a 30 unit dose would be 100iu) then tomorrow, you need to dose at 38 units to get you to a normal starting dose of 125iu. But do this only if your dose is verified.

Oh man! Thank you so much for breaking all of that down. I called the clinic just now and the receptionist asked the lab tech and she said that 10 ml of the water is being mixed in. And yes, the bottle they gave me has 11,000 IU written on it. The syringe goes up to 50 units, its says its an insulin syringe on it, and I was told to take 30 units.

Please look at your syringe again and lets be sure it is a U-100. Cause if its U-100 (and it should be) the dose they are asking you to take is insanely high. The U-100 will have an orange cap and is either 30-50-100 units. U-40s have a red cap and are either 20 or 40 units.

OK so here is the new dose breakdown with your new numbers and for a U-100 syringe:

11,000IU HCG mixed with 10ml water. (You are sure its not 11ml water mixed with 11,000iu HCG? that would be the most common mix)

    here is the math:

    11,000IU divided by 10 ml = 1100iu per ml

dose you want is divided by 1100 to get the units

    dose of 200iu = 18 units
    dose of 225iu = 20 units
    dose of 300 iu = 27 units
dose of 335 iu = 30 units YIKES

If the mix numbers are correct, even after dropping to 20 units, you are still taking a dose of 225, which is still way too high and would explain your hunger problems.

You want to drop to 150iu right after your skip day.
That would be 14 units on your syringe.
    (a 125iu dose would be 11.5 units)

You still need to do the skip day even though we know which direction to adjust now, because you need to get those levels down to a normal point quickly, and you can only do that quickly enough if you do a skip day.

    NOTE:
In case the mix was with 11ml water instead of 10ml water---or if the HCG vial already had 1 ml water before they added the 10ml (some brands come already dissolved in 1 ml bacteriostatic water):
a 150iu dose would be 15 units. I really think this is likely, as it would put them at the standard 1:1 mixture ratio. So it might be worth checking out as it does affect how much you will draw out. I know its a pain to have to keep calling them, but this is something you are injecting in your body. It should be precise.

Leez, you are an absolute saint. The time you take to help me (a complete stranger) with so much thought and intent is so incredibly appreciated. I will skip tomorrow and try to find out more about the hcg. And yes, I am using the u 100 syringe (orange cap) and it’s in 50 units.

Great! Now we know for sure how your syringe measures, the last piece of info is whether there was already 1 ml water in the vial of HCG before the clinic added the 10ml they told you.

The difference in dosing is only 1 unit, but that can represent quite a few IUs.

We'll just keep plugging away until we get it worked out and get you settled into the right dose. And also that you will know what the dose is.

When I was doing my HCG rounds over 10 years ago, I got so much help here that was accurate and beyond anything my doctor knew, because so many thousands of people have passed through here over the years. They've seen it all. I am so grateful for that help, as I don't know that I would have been successful without it. So I am happy to pass on what I've learned from the other veterans and great moderators here, especially grammy...she's legendary.

You are a wealth of knowledge and im so grateful for your help and this forum in general! When i did my 3 rounds 9 years ago it was seamless and I didn't really utilize any resources, the provider I was working with was amazing...but this time its been so different bc of Med Spa im using and this forum/you have been a savior!

I called them back today asking if I could chat with the Lab Tech. I was connected to her line but she never picked up...I left a voicemail and she never called me back. Just based off my little research and your gut feeling, I'd guess the original HCG vial came with that 1 cc of water too. So tomorrow morning im going to pull 15 units!

If you haven't done the skip day yet, don't reduce until after it. And don't omit the skip day. Its important to get your levels to come down quickly as your dose was super high.

You may still get a call back and be able to finally confirm your dose. Always better to know for sure.
