    Have I completely screwed up my metabolism?

    I started on the hcg protocl in 2011. I have done the protocol as well as 2.0. 15 times in the last 8 yrs.
    The last 2 times, i would lose weight and do great on phase 3. Then i would gain weight no matter what i ate. And im having gall bladder issues.
    Correction days stopped working. My last round ended the end of July. I was at 145 lbs. I am now at 165. I eat primarily clean sticking to phase 3 for the most part. In the last 3 months ive gained 15lbs.
    I am taking some crazy amazing prebiotic probitics. I am actually a distributor of these products.

    All of my codistributors are losing weight on these products. I am not. Have i messed up my thyroid? Im just beyond frustrated. I hadnt had crackers in years and decided to have some butter crackers with my cottage cheese. I had been totally eating clean up till that point. I gained 2 lbs. That was 3 days ago. Have eaten clean since. Will not come off!
    Today, i ran into a thrift store for some jeans to het me by till i lose again. I walked out in tears, with no purchase of pants.
    Sorry if im sounding like a aob story. Just so frustrated. Hoping someone might have a clue whats up.

    So sorry Tanya, I know how demoralized you must feel.

    Maybe it will help to realize you didn't actually gain 2 pounds of fat from eating the crackers. Because you have been low-carbing, your body has settled into a certain level of water stores. Starches take more water to process in the body, so you are just retaining the water needed to metabolize the crackers. I'm not sure why that kind of weight hangs on for a long time afterwards, but it seems to unless you do some kind of correction more drastic than just returning to your normal patterns.

    My suspicion would be that since you stayed in P3 eating for all this time, you probably haven't been eating at least some of the orange root vegetables and winter squashes that would be feeding your hormones, and your thyroid and adrenals are likely out of balance. Gall bladder issues can show up after fast weight loss. Low carb could be a factor in gall bladder problems but there is some controversy on that.

    If you are in peri-menopause or further along, that could be an issue also. Is your weight gain mostly around your midsection? If so that indicates metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance related to menopause.

    Your naturopath should be able to order tests to determine what is out of whack now and give you a path back to normalcy.

    Oh man, Tanya, I feel your pain, honey. I'd like you to get some thyroid panels pulled. You can get them yourself if the doctor won't order them. UltaLabs is the cheapest and I'd like you to get the $66 panel that tests reverse T3, free T3 and free T4. I had only been checking the frees and my reverse was through the roof.     I'd look there first. I have learned that several things can cause that reverse T3 to jump including stringent dieting. Inflammation and cortisol problems can cause it as well as low iron too. In your case, I suspect it could be the dieting. While you're getting your thyroid checked, consider switching over to something like the Fast Metabolism Diet by Pomroy to feed your adrenals and thyroid. Your adrenals and thyroid need some carbs to function properly. This diet often fixes that problem.

    Have you had any thyroid tests done at all? Are you on thyroid medication?

    I keep bumping post reply. I do have the fast metabolism book try doing that before I gained 5 pounds the first week. But I can try it again I suppose. I've been thinking that my thyroid is definitely the issue. But we will see thank you for all your ideas. I figured you were the person to ask!

    I went to the nature path yesterday. Adrenal fatigue for sure gallbladder is going to be removed at some point. On 3 different natural remedies. Will be doing lab work soon. Have developed allergies to chicken and eggs. I eat those every day. Well, did. Battery dying in phone, but just wanted to let you know.

    Before you let go of your gallbladder take a look at the Radical Metabolism Diet by Ann Louise Gittleman and try to save it. Your weight issues will likely get worse with no gallbladder.

    Ok thank you! I had my appointment on Friday and the doctor left for vacation. We leave for vacation Sunday and don't get back until the 15th so I have to wait till after that to get all my lab tests done. not feeling well at all today very very bubble-headed and not talking right.I was hoping I could at least get into the lab for the tests.
