Thread: Gained 6lbs during the first week of p3 :(

Gained 6lbs during the first week of p3 :(

So I've been eating fairly over 1800 cal a day usually consisting of high-protein and high-fat, low-carb and very high dietary fiber. I eat no sugar and no starch. I make a lot of my breads out of coconut flour and use erythritol for most of my baking. My last injection weight was 131.4 and now I am 137.4. I eat a lot of salmon coconut oil, eggs, and quest bars for snacking. Last night it was my best friends birthday and I decided to skip lunch and dinner. I ended up having three shots of vodka and two glasses of wine that night and today I ended up having 2 to 3 cheese sticks, salmon, broccoli, 3-4 quest bars and macadamia nuts. I'm unsure if I have a sensitivity to them cheese too. I got home around 5 to 6 PM and weighed myself and found that I was an astounding 137.4 and the last time I checked my weight which was a day ago I was only 134.2. What do I do tomorrow and I'm wondering is it water weight or is it all fat gain?!

Did you do the prescribed(from pounds and inches) steak day when your weight first became more than 2 pounds over your LIW? Also some find that they cannot eat nut flours in P3 without gains. We should stick to unprocessed foods in P3 so quest bars are not recommended. And weighing at night is also not recommended as it is almost always more than you weigh in the morning. I would do a steak day today and then go back to clean eating and skip the nut flours and the quest bars. Then try the iffy foods(eggs, dairy, nut) one at a time for 3 days each to see if you have large gains from them. If so, you may have a sensitivity to these foods. I have found that I really cant have much dairy or nuts without gaining. You can try the iffy foods again later if you like. But if you get the big gains from these foods, I would recommend waiing until P4 after you stabilize nicely on P3 to try them again. GL

Salmon, cheese, coconut oil, & nuts are all big gainers for me. If I'd had these over a couple of days like you did, I'd be up 6 or more pounds too from inflammation., and a steak day wouldn't do much to get it back down, but will stabilize me until I start heading back down.

Gained 6lbs during the first week of p3 :(

After the steak day, I drink dandelion tea for breakfast, do the veggie (cucumber, celery, lime, ginger) smoothie for dinner, and take an Epsom salt detox bath, then I'll drop another 2-3 pounds. The next day I go back to P3 eating and have 4-5 pieces of skin on baked chicken in butter for lunch or dinner and I'll drop 1-2 more. Also drink lots of water both days just like on a steak day. Then I'll be in the safe LDW range until I mess up and eat another trigger foodGained 6lbs during the first week of p3 :(Gained 6lbs during the first week of p3 :(

This is the only thing that works for me. Try it and see if it works for you.

I would expect to be gaining if I were eating Quest bars, erythritol, coconut oil, coconut flour, and nuts. All of those things disagree with me to some degree.

I also would count only the weight first thing in the morning just after getting up. Everybody gains a few pounds during the day and will weigh more at night. That's expected.

I think you should reevaluate your approach to P3. After you do a steak day, start eating non-starchy vegetables, meat and healthy fats. Then slowly add one new iffy ingredient every three days and see how your weight responds. The biggest problem foods are nuts, eggs and dairy. But coconut products can also be a huge issue for some. And erythritol causes terrible bloating, pain and gas in me.

    I don't know what a quest bar is...but wouldn't think it is p3 friendly.

Nuts are okay for me. Salmon too. I don't do dairy. Have a correction day if needed. Wine and vodka are not protocol, anyone would gain from protei carb bars and alcohol.

    -80 pounds!

I keep gaining 20 to 25 of it back, I take off 5 pounds myself and then I do a round and lose 20 lbs. So I have done a total of 7 rounds. I am on my 8th round, taking the SAME 20 lbs off. ugh. But at least I don't gain 80 back!

P.s. Don't weigh yourself in evenings, we all go up 2-5 lbs it is not accurate.

134 is 3 lbs over your last weight...not horrible, not 6 lbs like u described. You can do a steak day, or just tame alcohol and protein bars, cut nuts n cheese until you even out?

Grammy, Just a quick update on my progress.

I'm on P3D7 and holding at 177.4 (- 1.2 pounds from LIW). I'm settling comfortably into P3. No major sugar cravings. Have held todays weight for 5 days. Day 2 of P3 I gained 2 pounds from Panera Broccoli Cheese soup (danger here), but decided to IF and not a steak day. Ate all fat, minimum protein, and had a cucumber, lime, celery smoothie to shed water/inflamation. That did the trick. Been doing ok stabilizing after that. So far, I've concentrated on increasing fats, slowly introducing white cheese and minimal dairy. Finally able to eat bacon (the perfect food). Staying away from tomato paste and sauces until next week. Did experiment with some organic cashews and had no problem. I dare not go near almond flour or any flour substitutes yet until P4. Enjoying the break from my long P2 round. 43 days is a long time and I found it to be mentally taxing at the end. I did enjoy the better sleep on P2 and found that I'm back to my old sleep patters on P3 - tired and restless. I'm sure I benefited from the hormone, so I'm considering asking my doctor for some bio-identical HRP. Holding off on adding protein smoothies until P4 as well. I would love to have a glass of wine but will wait for 2 more weeks. Boy wont that taste good!

There aren't any suggestions other than just doing it. Cut out the food that's not allowed and get back to eating meats, veggies, and fruit.
